A tight fit (Prince level BtS SG, tiny, max. AI)

Gah, don't have enough time to play today. I'll take it tomorow.

As for the attack, I'm confused. Did we make peace with Japan? Cause the order (attack mansa, then take kyoto) sort of confused me...

And i just noticed something. Do we have enough seige? I think we might need it on Mansa. The defensive Skirmishers + the high cultural city defense might make it hard.

To start things of, I noticed we could cut through the island and make a canal! Not sure if we will ever need to use it though :crazyeye:

Since i was unclear if i should go for peace and attack mansa or if i finish of toku quickly, i decided, since we already have many troops near tokugawa, to finish him of.
Turn 1: Joao offers OP, i accept, why not? Roosevelt asks us to declare on greece. Zara who is already angry at us makes us stop trading with someone (don't remember) but since we're gonna attack him soon to get rid of his culture, i decline. Carthage asks to trade crabs for iron. I say no. Zara converts to Hinduism. It's a hindu world! This is what's defending Kyoto:

Turn 2: Japan foolishly send 3 units out of his capital to attack bombay, (takes 3 turns), leaving his capital gaurded with only 2 axes and 1 archer. We attacl next turn and now it looks like a victorious attack.
Turn 3: Pillage iron mine. The attack by toku turns around and attacks several of our attackers. Sadly 2 died, including a cat. We have to wait for next turn to finihs toku of.
Turn 4: Literature done. No clue what to do next. so i start feudilism.
870v8ms.png
With the Collusos done, Kyoto will be a great commerce city, Speaking of Kyoto...
72pyi3a.png
Roosevelt makes peace with Alexander. We lost a suicide cat and 2 strong axeman at a good chance for us. Japanese civilization has been destroyed.
Turn 5: Zara wanted us to declare on the Vikings, i say, No way hose! I whip the parthenon in Delhi. Was afraid of losing it.
Turn 6: Alexander declares on Zara.
6lta82c.png

Great engineer born in Cuzco. Dunno what to do with, so i let the group decide. he's sleeping in Cuzco. Began Great Library in Delhi, (our lead research city)
Turn 7: I began National Epic in Cuzco as i think it is our GP Farm. Sorry for not letting the group decide, Cancel it if you don't like the idea.
Turn 8: Joao asks us to revolt to Hinduism. I like the idea, but i don't like the revolting apsect of it. I say no. Making Joao annoyed. GG born in Aksum. In two truns we declare on Mansa.
Turn 10: Apolostic Election for leader occurs. I voted for us. I think Suileman made the Apolistic Palace. It'd be funny if it was a hindu one with all those hindu guys lol. Well the war starts.
Turn 11: We win the apolistic elections! Great merchant born, i bulb civil service cause it seemed the most important giving the situation. What situation you may ask? This one.
87irrly.png

Yap i was scared to knowing not alot of troops were out south, but then i saw this:
6ycfvwy.png

Am i missing something? You declared war on the most powerful person on the planet! Only monty does that, and suileman, your no monty. For safety reasons, i move the Great Engineer up to Bombay. a safer place.
Turn 12: 3 suicide cats die, and the attack on djene begans.
80v290n.png

Besides the suicide cats, no losses =) I decide to go all the way and attack timbukto. I think it's the best case scenerio as i can't ask for peace.it's gaurded only with 2 skirmishers, but we have no cats so a few troops have to commit suicide sadly. Luckily Djenne came with the Kong Maio and the Dai maio,
Turn 13:
6x7y1z4.png

Turn 14: Carthage luckily is sending in a stack to attack timbukto. Mali will handle it, but we'll come and destory the injured units.
Turn 15:
7wp7ozm.png

Turn 16: Nothing much.

I took an extra turn by accident. *sorry*
Wow, the Suileman thing was a little suprising. we have big financial problems, but most of it should go away ounce we get kyoto working, and timbukto is captured. I think we have the Suileman thing under control. Timbukto is ours next turn. Sadly the Carthagian army isn't going our way. I STRONGLY suggest that somehow we convert to Hinduism. For all we know, That carthagian stack is coming from us.

Suileman is i believe getting ready for a big attack. So i think it's best if we capture timbukto quickly and get our stack back to home base. We have a scouting Spy with commando(can use enemy roads) Don't ask me why it is a spy, just continue scouting with it... We need to know what our enemy is hiding, and i met de gaulle and brennus with it, (don't know how, but i did) Besides we can't op with any hindu person at all. And everyone except for Us, Mali and Suilem are Hindu. I forgot to, but get a culture producing building in Kyoto to get it to expand it's borders.
GP born in 1 turn in Cuzco.

Next player... Good luck, i think you'll need it!

looking at the save a few questions come to mind:

1) why are we not fielding gazillions of catapults?
2) why are we not building gazillions of catapults?
3) why are there no courthouses built/ordered?
4) why are there no markets?

It seems we totally missed the point where we should have changed from 'rush thy neighbor' to a 'build up thy empire' mode.

I take a look at the fighting odds with Mansa - appalling! I make peace ASAP.
The stack of units threatening us near Cuzco can use some abuse - and why was that swordsman left uncovered next to an enemy axe?

Next turn, I kill the stack for one axe lost - thanks to a catapult withdrawal that gives all units in the stack -0.5 strength. Also, march on our enemy - two archers explore his forests, hoping to survive long enough to cut a few roads. I engineer 'Chicken Itch' - we may need the defense bonus some day. Also join a new GG to our military center Bombay. Order cats all around, just 'nople gets a court as there are chops due.

next few turns: lose one archer, the other kills the offending axe and blocks the Otto iron :) bring cats into play at Stanbul and later Edirne. All in all these two cities fall within 10 turns with only 1 unit lost! :hammer:

Courts are finished all around, too, as well as markets ordered. I deal for Theo and revolt:

Police State
Bureaucracy
Serfdom
-----
Theocracy

While expensive, a few turns at 0% science, the courts, some markets, Kyoto online and the money from city captures can keep us a float a long time. Also, we got some happiness issues, but the markets, a temple in 'Nople and the reduced WW fixed things nicely. MMed cities to reduce growth where needed.

I trigger a GA with a Great Spy.
I culture bomb Yaswhatever.

FP in 'Nople, researching Divine Right so we can place Versailles in a good spot. Cuczo, maybe, which will pop a GL next turn - if it is an Engineer I'd keep him for part-rushing Versailles.

Notes for the near future: cats are on the way to Mansa. Troops are healing in Cuczo. Zara is in three wars, having picked on Roosie. Prime target, I'd say :D Mongols loosen a spy at us, just to loose him for no gain. They look small, weak, and ripe for the picking :)

yah that's my #1 problem when playing civ. When i'm in a war, all i can think is, Build troops! and i forget about micromanaging... Otherwise, Great turns, Fixed up all my mistakes :) and a save would be nice ;)

Nice turn, Simon. Very informative maps, BTW.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!! Well, those who are Americans at least. ;)

:aargh: :aargh: :hammer2: :wallbash:

I must have closed the attachment window too early!

Idiotically, I am AGAIN not able to access the computer with the savegame on it - I am at the other end of the country! Tomorrow evening at the earliest...... sorry!!!

*bump*

this thread was almost at the end of the page! just a minor bump. Anyway it's 10PM EST. Simple Simon your situation?

If we build FP where it is currently being built I would place Vaersaille further east probably in future held territory.

I know - but it takes eternally long to build and I do not wish to lose it to an AI with marble and an engineer. Rather, I'd delay FP.

But in my experience, it does not make so much of a difference anyways, unless you place either of the two really far off.

Oops forgot to bring my notes with me, I'll have to do this by memory which isn't going to be that accurate, I was up in 3 games last night. Felt a lot like homework  .

Right.
Saw our tech rate, not so good. Witch back to Representation now that we haven't got any war-weariness issues, sell our people into slavery.
Not sure about Divine Right research, I'd have gone for machinery, but I'll trust our leaders decision :p

Our next GP was a scientist, he built an academy in Delhi. The other option was to bulb Philosophy, but we're so ridiculously ahead of everybody in score and tech we'll have this finished soon.

We had a huge amount of catapults all over our land, split them into 2 groups and postioned some outside of Mongolia the others went to Mansa's backdoor.

Declared on and destroyed Genghis.
Declared on Mansa, but had to go the long way to avoid attacking over a river.

Good luck next player.

Divine right for Versailles and i think Spiral Minerate for the money.

So we eliminated Genghis completely? Is it just me or is it whenever a turnset completes we destroy atleast 1 civ?

Let's just hope we do not get constant revolts...

My mistake: I sent more of them south than needed
