abandonware (no links please dont delete)

About the subject of abandonware, i have heard a lot, but i still cant really figure out if it is legal or illegal. It seems that microprose (or hasbro) or all other game companies for that matter, would crackdown a bit more if it were really illegal.

***Know that i am not promoting or disparaging abandonware, in fact my copy of Civ I happens to be abandonware. I just want to know if i am a felon or not.

It is illegal. You are a felon.

*I* am supporting abandonware, with much enthusiasm, and have been involved with it in a major way for years. Most of the people who run the largest abandonware websites are my close friends.

As for the companies, well they aren't really pursuing it because it isn't worth it for them. They would have nothing to gain financially from criminal or civil cases because they do not sell these games. That doesn't make it legal, however.

Yup...it's illegal...

And I've been a very,very bad boy...lol

I got so much abandonware,I couldn't play all of it if I sat behind my computer for a whole week...
