it implies that he wasn't democratically elected which he wasn't. nothing about his policies, ideals or anything of the sort.

You know, if you repeat a lie enough times it does not become the truth.

Can you please specify why you don't believe he was elected? Perhaps point to us the circumstance underwhich the electoral vote can be ignored, or the law that specifices that popular vote is more important, or maybe you can show us evidence that he got less votes in the states whose electoral votes he took?

You see, if you did any of THAT you'd be making a legimate complaint. But instead you're just repeating a tired, old lie enough times in hopes enough people will get upset and yell at you, and a flame war can begin over some crystal clear American electoral laws.

That is why this thread will be closed, and you'll spend a few days on vacation. You can get away with saying ANYTHING on these forums that aren't against the rules, the problem is you have to make a compelling arguement as to WHY you're saying it. That is the difference between a point and a troll. This thread makes no arguement as to questioning Bush's legitimacy, so it is just a troll.

i shoudn't be banned nor the thread closed. i'm not flaming or anything!

he WASN'T democratically elected.

the election was a joke. so many unlawful dealings throughout the course of the election, coupled with the fact that if there actually was a fair recount he wouldn't be in the white house!!
Wrong. There are plenty of threads in the archives on the subject. This much is indisputable. If the recounts had progressed as Gore wanted them to, then the margin in Florida widens. Gore should have followed Richard Nixon's lead and bowed out gracefully, hoping to win a different election.

And Bush WAS Democraticlly elected. In fact, My family voted for him.
This can easily be debated and argued. The ballots, the system of the electoral college, etc. However in the end it will prove no point, so I shall refrain.

Moved to site feed back

The thread was ten worst dictators, no normal definition of the word dictator could be applied to Bush, and the post was judged by the moderator as a troll for the purpose of upseting posters.

You guys were scarring phoenix_night a bit, be a little gentler on the young ones please.

hmmmm....
Bush isnt a dictator hes just has a ugly face.
Thats why poeple say hes a dictator
Ever seen a pretty dictator? :D

;)

My history teacher once told me that autocracy is the finest of all goverments: as long as the dictator is a good one. History has proven that even when a dictator is a good one, he will become a bad one, BEFORE he will see so himself.

I believe it was Winston Churchill who said: Democracy is a louzy kind of government, but unfortunatedly, I do not know a better one.

I don't think anybody in this forum seriously thinks GWB is dictator. They just can't bear the fact that he has and uses his great power to do something they do not agree with. Making a bit fun of it, won't harm IMHO.

About the elections: Shouldn't a modern country like the USA have a electronic voting system?

Yes, me!

Anyway,

I should like to tell you fine types, that when I put the august Mr Bush's name on the list of dictators, it was strictly humour.

I know that the USA has a long-standing and time-seasoned electoral process and government system
that prevents any one man misusing the awe-inspiring might of the great nation.

Haven't you?...Tell me you have!!!

(only joking!)

What the hell is this doing in site feedback?

Someone wanted to get a last word in, how intelligent.

And finally, why the hell is this thread even open?

if you are not listening what whole world is saying, not giving peace chance, but just listening yourself and your generals.. i don't know if that is dictator or not, it is just wrong.

still we should listen moderators. they make this site for us. we have to obey rules. Spending days debating Bush is major waste of time and it goes on and one, endlessly. so banning that is good thing.

I don't like thing that moderator is on one side, activelly defending Bush, and saying that is "nonsense" that US is aggressor ( not 'agressor' like AoA said :) )

You start with :wallbash: ...

...follow with a breathtakingly rational statement...

Switch, I know you hate me. You don't have to show it on every post.

You are very conservative. Not even letting alternate thought to get into your mind. In this case, notr trying to see my and others view of things.

*sigh*

I don't hate you. I don't hate anyone on this forum, or any other for that matter. Hate is too personal an emotion to waste on people you'll never meet.

What I actually do is despise your attitude and viewpoint. I am not hampered by a need to spare anyone's feelings if they say something I see as being ignorant, uninformed, or just plain stupid.

Frankly, I'm being worn down by the virulent anti-americanism I see here. I used to be a much more polite and reserved poster. Now I no longer see the point in being nice when those on the other side of the argument almost never are.

I have been thinking about abandoning this forum for several weeks now. What keeps me from it is the feeling that if I do so it'll be a defeat. When I stop caring about that, I finally will leave.

Don't give up the forum Switch.

I guess it is easier for me, as I completely disagree with our government, to handle bashing of our government and not even notice it as somehow "rude". I don't tolerate blanket Anti-Americanism though, but I also don't actually think I see it very much- except in obvious cases which get purged right away like last night's anarchic thread.

I have thought about it, whether I'd like to see those who argue against me just dissappear from the forum, but came to the conclusion that that is when I would leave it- it isn't interesting to me to sit and say stuff and everyone just agrees. What makes this forum appealing is the diversity of views- a diversity within north american viewpoints and a diversity from overseas.

And you Switch are one of the treasured few moderate, rational centrists.

Arguments are there, you just dont see them or don't want to see them as you have pre-formed opinion. don't give up. while americans are proud of their country and its success and power (inside picture), others have different (outside) picture of US.

I can also despise you because you despise me and you don't know me other from this shallow posts.

@Civddict- I despise you for the racist jokes you posted that were erased from a thread back in December.

That last sentence is kind of ironic, considering what I just posted in another thread:

I'm feeling like a bitter, far right-wing, unconcionable b@st@rd at the moment.

Here is the bitter dreg of irony in all this: I'm not a Bush supporter. I didn't vote for him in 2000, and neither will I do so in 2004. But! The fact I think he's right about Iraq, believe he was legitimately elected, and also that I don't want to see baseless insults thrown at him (like dictator or usurper), makes people think I'm, in Civddict's words, "very right-wing!"

Oh yeah, and that I hate him (Civddict).

I've been slogging through these p!ssing contests for about a year now, and I'm just about worn out with it.

The faces change, but the bile remains the same.

I'm sick of it.
