About Forum Rules...

As for no thread deletion message, that's just the way the VB software works. Same thing with post deletes: no message.

OTOH, Mods and Admins can see where the deleted posts/threads were, and the reason for their deletion (assuming the individual doing the deleting left one). We can also open the deleted thread/post, review it, and even un-delete it, if appropriate (which is extremely rare).

Under normal circumstances, the poster who got a post/thread deleted would be sent a PM about it - most likely an infraction PM. ;)
It's possible to make the deleted posts visible to regular posters similar to the the way those posts appear to moderators (except the ability to manage the post or view it, of course), but I don't think it's a good idea because it will make the board look messy, with all those deleted messages.

Can I confirm that I can post 500+ pictures in the Political Cartoons thread without breaking any rules?

I think you need to stop responding to something not directed at you. This has to count as harassment...

Provided you don't try to do it in consecutive posts - Ie. put a reasonable number of pictures in one post, wait for some other people to post, then put a reasonable number of pics in the next post etc.

That's quite enough, Abaddon. You know the rules....if you have a problem with a moderator action take it up with the moderator via PM. If you don't feel it's still resolved, take it up with Thunderfall.

Continuing to publicly post about this will start earning you points.....

But I honestly don't.. I give you three examples of where people did exactly what I did, and when they did it.. it wasn't against the rules, when i did it, big issues.

Fine, PM to TF, I give up getting a rational response since this has degraded to threats.

A while ago I received some infractions, but they seem to have expired. How does that work and are there infractions that don't expire?

1 and 2 pt infractions expire after 30 days. 3 pt infractions expire after 35 days, I believe. Adspammers get 60 which do not expire. There's also a permban level of 80 pts which does not expire either. The last two are more administrative than what moderators use.

My experience says 1 point infractions expire after 20 days, 2 point infractions expires after 30.

Is there a rule saying that if there is a large picture, to put it in spoiler tags? That may be a good idea, for both dial-up users and people annoyed by it. :p

In spoiler tags it still loads the image, I think. Not sure, tho.

Probably better to just resize it. Even in MSPaint, it's ridiculously easy to do.

Talking about infractions and stuff got me thinking :
Would it be possible to mention in a poster's signature or location if he's been banned (and until when) or permbanned ?

Let me explain : In my line of work (the armed forces), we have a reward-punishment system. You all know the rewards, you've seen them on many chests, they're very shiny and send a message to the viewer : This guy (or gal) has done good stuff. Now what do I have to do to get the same rewards.
Likewise the punishment system, although less obvious, is also meant to serve as a warning to all the others : Do what he did and you will (likely) end up with the same punishment.

Now, we don't have rewards on CFC, ok I can understand that (although I kind of regret it). But we also have a very effective punishment system. The little red and yellow cards are fine, but something even more visible would also perhaps be even more effective. It would also lessen posts along the lines of "I wonder where poster X has gone, I haven't seen him in a while" (and ten other that follow until it's been established that said poster is in mod-sponsored vacation).

So, what do you think ?

We do not publicly discuss bans, permbans, or ban lengths. You'll have to resort to other measures to determine those.
