About Forum Rules...

Talking about infractions and stuff got me thinking :
Would it be possible to mention in a poster's signature or location if he's been banned (and until when) or permbanned ?

People's signatures disappear when they are banned. So the best thing to do would be to look and see if they still have their signature to determine if they have been banned or not.

However, there are some people who elect not set their signatures.

We do not publicly discuss bans, permbans, or ban lengths. You'll have to resort to other measures to determine those.

But nothing refrains Moderators from discussing the suggestion in private, i.e. off forum. Results, if any, can then be made public if deemed necessary.

Okay, thanks for the swift answer. But why the taboo ? Wouldn't it be more effective to advertise these things ? (See what happens when you behave like him).
I'm not promoting discussion of moderator actions, quite the contrary, I just wish they'd be more public.

EDIT : @Azza : Good point. I hadn't considered that.

Some people would consider it a badge of honour, rather than punishment. Glorifying them would only increase such behavour from the already problematic posters.

I have a question to both the Administrator and all Moderators:

- is there some way that you consider the Forum Rules could be improved - or do you consider them perfect as is? (Assuming such discussion is not a violation of the said command structure, i.e. not along the thoughts of the Administrator.)

- are the Forum Rules the privilege/discretion of Thunderfall, i.e. the Administrator?

CFC is an evolving place, and we realize that. We understand that the rules that were in place when there was 20,000 members may not be as ideal as when we had 75,000 members. The rules have been through several updates, four I believe. So, no, we don't consider them perfect. But we do regularly speak about updating them.

We operate by the Golden Rule here. He who has the gold, makes the rules. So, yes, the forum rules are ultimately the privilege and discretion of TF. He does accept input on them, but the final say, as with all things here, is his.

Well, on behalf of CFC members, thanks for the reply. (Though I'd prefer a more individual response from the Moderators...):shifty:

BTW, how many members are there and might I suggest adding this as a feature to the site (total number of members, that is, not this question)?:crazyeye:

I doubt you're going to get an answer from any mod different than the one Turner gave you. Certainly my own response would be pretty much identical to his.

OK then.

Just wanted to mention my PC is down, so I'll be able to post but not much of anything else...:(

Might I suggest that Q&A on this (and other Site Feedback threads) will be incorporated into the Forum Rules FAQ?

Got a new question (so that makes three):what's a spam thread?

(Sorry for quoting this post from a few weeks ago, but I really do not understand the topic because everyone is posting this unreleated to the topic in different forms so I'll just answer this question since it's the only thing I understand out of this whole thread)

Spam Threads:When the poster of the thread or the threads posts are ALL spam in either letters, numbers, symbols, or smilies.

Spam Posts:When one member spams using either letters, numbers, symbols, or smilies in a unreasonable order or for no reason what-so-ever.

Hope this answers your question JEELEN. :)
