Acid_02: Cyrus, CC

I would settle third city and claim horses.
Intelligence is crucial in this game, we are not guarantied that Toku is greater treat in this game than Sahaladin or Elizabeth. We should always scout their cities just to see if they are building up military. If we could open borders with Toku this ealry, i'd think about attacking sahaladin first.

I have a couple of discussion points for this turnset.

1. Realised we do not have The Wheel yet. We need this before IW otherwise I cannot hook up bronze ?
2. We are building warriors. I would maybe leave this as barbs are off and build spears when we get bronze online ?
3. I will chop second worker at capital and then look to get pasture on pigs before mining the bronze by which time I should have roads.
4. Thinking of letting Captial grow while building barracks after worker before we produce next settler, or do we want to get one out earlier ?

1. You are correct.
2. I agree, but build axeman instead of spears :).
3. I generally dont like to chop stuff without math unless absolutely necesarry. Dont chop the plains forests in the capital if your going to chop though.
4. Depends on how long it takes to grow. If you can MM to build rax and growth at same time in like 8-10 turns, I would go ahead and do that. But thats your choice...

Also we should build some farms on those wines until we get monarchy, they will be stronger than most of the other tiles in the capital.

why did i tought cyrus starts with the wheel? n/m
just switch to wheel [9], then go back to IW, and use slavery to our adventage :whipped:
we need to connect that bronze...

2. Was going for 2 cheap spearman for defense only, but I'll look at the difference in cost. Axeman all the way after that :)
3. Just the second worker I was going to chop, advantage of having it early is worth it at the moment. I wil chop the forest on grassland though.
4. I think it will take 5 turns for 2nd worker, then 10 turns to get growth to 4 with barracks. If I let it grow we can send axeman with settler rather than warrior and make use of the whip as acid says (we are not in slavery yet though).

I will risk building no units then until we have the bronze hooked up.

T1: Swapped from warrior build to barracks in pasargadae. No barbs as agreed we build units later. Swapped research to The Wheel (9 turns).
T2: Start chopping 2nd worker.
T3: Pasargadae expands, switch to work the pigs.
T5: scouting south. Forest chop complete.
T6: Send both workers to the pigs. Want it online quick as it will give 6 food :).
Decide to grow rather than make next settler. Settler would take 15 turns, to grow and complete barracks will take 10 turns.
T8: Start scouting towards saladin. Start building pasture.
T10: Pasture complete. The Wheel complete. IW will now take 13 turns but makes sense to get it early to clear the rice at pasargadae and make more use of slavery.
T12: Both workers sent to mine bronze.
T13: Find Saladin has Horses hooked up. Persepolis will now grow and finish barracks in 3 turns, we wont have bronze hooked up though for 6 turns yet.
T15: pasargadae grows to 3. Could do with slavery really but dont want to lose a turn yet.
T16: Persepolis grows to 4, set to build a settler (will need to whip this later).
TOKU BUILDS CITY SOUTH OF HORSES!!!! This is not so good, but there is no way we could have got a settler there before him.
I don't see many other good places for cities that will help our cause.
Bronze mine completed.
T17: Workers set to hook up the bronze.
T20: Bronze finally online.

We have 9 turns to barracks in Pasargadae and 11 turns to settler in Persepolis.
IW is in 4 turns.
We are 2nd in power graph, not too bad with no units.
Saladin still leads comfortably.

The Toku city is a real pain, but we will just have to be even more aggressive than planned :)

I would maybe consider another worker rather than settler in persepolis as I do not like city positions and we will have to take Toku city for horses. As is stands we could really do with more improved tiles but movement is taking forever with jungle everywhere.

Should now consider slavery switch at start of next turnset and whip barracks and settler/worker then build axe for war.

I'm not sure how we can get a handle on the AI peronalities, only indicator so far is that the AI are all pleased with each other. This means we will upset 2 AI the minute we declare war on someone. Maybe writing will help us get more of an idea about what the AI are like.

Pasargadae need to work that rice, and we shuold hook up that elephant. The reason is that we are going to whip all the axes there, since it's much more efficinet with all that food. Settle south from capital since we are laready producing setler. And then whip those axes to take out toku. I dont care if he's next ghandi or not

Iron is discovered in abundance and a new city is founded in a prime location. The next player may want to switch Persepolis over to a settler to more quickly hook up the gem site. We are also in need of a road network. Note that Pasagardae is about to grow into unhappiness.

Turn1: Adopted Slavery. Workers head for Ivory.
Turn2: Ivory began
Turn3: Discover that Saladin has a city with Copper.
Turn4: yawn
Turn5: yawn
Turn6: Iron working complete, Pottery underway. Iron discovered near Persepolis. Workers head for Rice.
Turn7: yawn
Turn8: Pasagardae Barracks complete, Axeman underway. Rice started.
Turn9: Pasagardae grows to 4, Axeman pop rushed.
Turn10: Another Axeman started in Parade.
Turn11: Yawn
Turn12: Settler completed in Persepolis and heads south, Worker underway.
Turn13: Yawn
Turn14: Settler discovers iron near intended city site.
Turn15: Workers head back to Persepolis
Turn16: Pottery complete, Writing underway. Suza founded, begins warrior.

Acid-02 Suza founded.JPG

Turn17: Pasagardae completes Axeman (heads to Suza), Axeman underway.
Turn18: Iron mine began.
Turn19: Persepolis competes worker, starts Granary while growing to size 5. New worker starts road to Iron.
Turn20: yawn

i think better position for susa was 1W, so it grabs rice and doesn overlap with toku's once we get it.
theRat, once you conect that ivory, whip both capital and Pasa for Swords and axes :whipped:

ok got this as well, yes early aggression is good :mischief:

save
played 20 turns as agreed

we get writing, started alphabet though it takes pretty long, but trade value will be immense and we can
extort techs from Toku for peace if he still lives

we should whip a few more units to take out Toku's capital

Ok turns completed.

Saladin offers open borders, I agree. Also whipped some more swordsman/axeman to take out strong Toku's very strong capital.

Osaka is captures is 610 BC, lost 1 swordsman I believe.

Alphabet comes in 520 BC, I check the techs other civs have, here is the situation.

I put research on mysticism to extract some of the deeper religious techs out of Tokugawa when we declare peace. He also has 4 archers and 1 spearman inside of Tokyo, our stack is 2 immortals, 4 axeman, and 3 swordsman.

I wait for reinforcements and another stupid move by the AI... He moves 1 spearman and 1 archer out of Tokyo, leaving it with only 3 archers, and my huge stack was just getting ready to attack also...

Tokyo is captured easily after that, only 3 units lost I believe, it would have been much more units lost if he didnt move that archer/spearman out.

After I captured tokyo, decided to declare peace, extract fishing, polytheism and masonry out of Tokugawa for peace. It will be very easy to finish him off a bit later on, no point in finishing him off now as we can get those 3 free techs ;)

So anyhow, I have not traded much so far, acid, I didnt want to trade alphabet to anyone yet, and we have only Iron working on Elizabeth. Ill let acid decide what to do with that. I have also started research on literature, it will be of good use for GL and the epics as we have marble in our borders.

I would personally suggest going down the construction path after literature, we have ivory.
