Acken's Minimalistic Balance for singleplayer (and AI improvements)

There seems to be something wrong ever since I took the mini update. I cannot load a game save directly anymore, I have to load the mod first and then the game save. Any ideas how I can fix this?

I have always loaded mods first before loading a saved game; I had read long ago that loading a modded game directly risked ... problems, that the mods would sometimes (often?) not load correctly.

It's just a couple extra mouse clicks and probably a lot of saved time to follow a recommended procedure. :)
 
I took a copy of version 6 before I let Steam update to version 7. I may delete that Steam version and manually apply version 7. Any chance that will break my existing game? Really don't want to lose it as this is the best Immortal start I have had so far.

I have been playing this mod for months, always directly loading the game without issue. Just this last week it started hanging/crashing on load. It's just a QoL feature but if I can fix it, so much the better.
 
I replaced the Steam version with that from Drop Box and I get the same issue, a run time error if I load directly but loads fine once I load the mod.
 
Do you guys get the free great person at end of liberty? It doesn't work for me.

I built the oracle but I don't think that would affect it.

Works fine o my end. Have you tried to use ige for further testing ? You can also try reinstalling the mod. Also sometimes civ5 bugs and doesnt load mods properly. Quittig and reloading can solve this issue.
 
Yeah was conflicting with another mod, thank you for helping and for doing this, I feel like its the most polished mod so far!

EDIT: New question:

Sometimes the AI will send 1 unit to another one my cities while at war, and just move back and forth out of city range. Sometimes will go in on top of improved tiles like academies, but wont pillage them even tho I have no army nearby.
This happens also frequently if the AI got a scout near my borders while at ar, it just stays there not moving while I shoot it down with an archer.

Another situation I'm curious about (attachement). The AI left a spearman near my troops (blue line) while retreating with the rest of his troops. Do you feel like this is intencional as to prevent me from advancing further while retreating, thus sacrificing a unit? Or just AI weirdness.

Also catapult retreating into water tile, instead of garrisoning in city to attack me next turn.

I understand some things are very difficult to do, just generally curious about how one goes modding the AI to make it smarter.

Do you feel like this happens often in your games?
 
On v7 I'm getting a few times where the AI offer a trade and when I click accept they're like... naah just kidding.

Also, I'm in progress of a game where I started on an island on myself. How do I get gold? I've previously managed by using caravans but there's no one in range
 
jobloggs, I'd just reroll. Isolated starts are no fun whatsoever, IMO.
 
I don't know if this is a bug or I'm just extremely lucky, but I started a game with this mod and I've seen an inordinate number of goody huts available. Even some that were right next to other civs.

Does the AI deprioritize popping huts? Or explore less?

These are just normal poor ai behavior. All these are also vanilla issues. I am not good enough to modify the tactical ai. I probably will look into adding some more of AUI mod in the future.
 
Darn, now the game keeps crashing. :(

I'm just using this and the Extended User Interface. The first game I made it like 75 turns or so, but then I couldn't advance the turn without it crashing. I started a new game and I made it around 20 turns or so before it crashed. It crashes after I finish the turn.

Any ideas?
 
I've also seen more Ruins but nothing too over the top. Play a few more games to see if it still happens
