So, how come this DemoGame is as good as dead? Nearly no RP activity, ten days or so between the last two turnsets. I am especially disheartened by the first subject; even the regulars in RP such as Vandal Warlord and KWarriorPoet seems inactive at the moment.

I have decided I will give this Demogame another chance to get running and active again, since I am going on a vacation for a week from the 28th June through the 6th July, and again from the tenth July and atleast a week from then. If the Demogame does not move without me in those two periods of time, I am likely to quit the Demogame for good and spend more time on my Succession game and Concurrent succession game as well as the strategy article I am working on.

So, the cryout is: Please, be active, people, or atleast firmly state that you do no longer have time for the DG. Letting it die like this is silly.

This is always a problem at this time of year, people do and then finish their exams and other people go on their holidays, so activity suffers as a result.

I am active though alot of my time right now is spent working on the RPG economy and land grant system with Cyc. Though I have resigned from my Sr. Diplomat position I will try to get in on the gameplay discussions a little more.

Well, to be honest with you, Diamondeye, IMHO the slow down came when religion put the stopper in the drain. When the POF halted the progression of the Land Grant System for so long (and then finals held up the final approvals), people just faded away. I HAVE seen times when there were 16 guests signed onto the Citizens sub-forums while I was the only member, but they never signed on and posted. Also as I don't own CIV, it's difficult for me to make maps for the ALG. King dutchfire has done so for me now and I can proceed, but it has been difficult for me.

I can understand your reasoning, and I don't want to make this a flamy thread. But frankly, I think there are plenty of people like me, Ice and Vandal who care mostly for the RP part of the game. Since the activity in the citizen forum is in steady decline, we will ofcourse be less interested in visiting the forums.

On your point about religion; please dont specify it as religions fault. Specify it as my fault or as POFs fault. As I have said before, blaming religion for what its followers does is a no-no. On top of that, I am completely nihilistic in my relation to religion, so I take your comments about by zealotry as :thumbsup:s for good RP. Thanks.

But yes, perhaps the POF-Landgrant discussion got a big annoying for the rest of the lurkers. But that is just one aspect of it. Combined with the fact that there was no real RP activity apart from it and the game was not really moving gameplaywise, and that most people are on vacation/Exams (I have my last exam tomorrow :woohoo:), it might have slowed the DG down. THe point of this thread is ssto combat that tendancy. Checking the forum and replying to a couple of threads takes a couple of minutes. Along with checking SGs and other threads, ½ an hour max... My point is that it is depressing logging in and finding that the last thing posted in the citizen forum is what you posted yesterday... :p

The Netherlands have been knocked out of Euro '08 , and there are only 3 matches left. That'll increase my activity here :)

I sure hope so, it's the only way I might win some of the bets I made

I did not intend to flame you either, or head in that direction.

And myself included on that list. And I agree.

Thank you for once again sharing your view of our universe, but that is not a point of contention here. If you were able to expand your view to encapsule the entire game, then you might see that it is indeed about religion. In our RP world, it was a religious group (the POF) the the entire delay was about. They initiated the discussion with a complaint about what was happening to their religious group's dignity in the face of promises made. Please consider some of the recent DGs, where citizens have complained about the problems of politics getting in the way of the game and holding it up. How about all the citizens who complained about the Judicial system holding up the game. To those people you would also say that it wasn't politics or the Judicial system that was the problem? That it was the followers of those two entities. Then I would have to side with you there, my friend. It is not the politics or the Judicial system that held the game up, it was what the followers did that was a "no-no". I'm so glad that any more claims about the Judicial system holding up the game will, from here on in, be looked at as invalid. Thank you.

I've been there, it seems I'm always there. The last posts recorded just below the pinned threads have been mine many times. You would like me to respond to my own posts? I get tired of being the only one who posts.

And if you wind up leaving after your two week vacation, we will miss you.

Germany is going all the way!!!:p

We have a (rather depressing) saying in Denmark that states the following:

Football is a game where 22 players play with a ball in 90 minutes and it ends with Germany winning... It has not been proved wrong nearly enough to decline the truth in it.

I did not intend to flame you either, or head in that direction.

Good. I was not thinking so. :D

Hard to find a snip in that block of text, but I'll do here.

The discussion was about the dignity of a group, not because of the religion of the group, but because of certain promises that were or weren't given to the group. I would be exactly as offended if my group was based on war or economy rather than religion. That the group being or not being mistreated was religious only had minor influence in the RP side of things.

I have no experience from former DGs, so this passes right over my head, but it looks as if we agree anyway. That's nice.

I thank you for your kind words, and, as stated, I will only leave if the game slows to a halt for too long. However exciting the game has been/is, it is, as you state, boring to do a RP story alone :wallbash:. I hope we will see some more activity from the rest of the RPers soon :)

Football is a game where 22 players play with a ball in 90 minutes and it ends with Germany winning...

Gary Lineker was the first to say it :p, probably after the 1990 semi final England v Germany!

Still, it is a very true phrase at present

And my friends in Germany will never let me forget it.

I am rather inactive, or inactive, by two reasons:

1) I can no longer open the saves.
Once again has been said before that the Mod shall make no harm and, then,
when something changes, it's shown that the Mod does harm. And the cycle
goes on.

2) It is sad, but I must say that the game (if there is one) is very boring.
The game it's almost stopped and always has been like that.
Even the "Gameplay" forum is full of everything, but the game.
It's like people votes for a RP game, organize it, avoids the Civ game, and
then leave.
This is not a criticism or complain, you are on your right.

Best regards,

I will start some buzz in this game in a bit. You need my controversy to make the game vibrant again. Some here may loathe me for some reasons, but people need both a patron and a nemesis to energize something as 2 dimensional as a forum game.

I agree completely, especially the loathing part!:D

Good to hear from you, Provo. We may be needing a new King soon.

Well we got 11 votes this time, although Furiey is inactive (Hi Furiey!)

That means we lost 6 from the Roll Call poll. I'm getting pretty bored myself.
