Rome for next month.

I would suggest BrazilCIV, due to the requirements of Wonder(Wembley, Hoover Dam and Christ the Redeemer) for UHV2, as it would serve as a good thermometer to evaluate the technology transition that the game takes at the end of the industrial era and the beginning of the modern era.

so it would be useful for the purpose of balancing tech costs in this part of the game.

in addition to allowing you to follow, in parallel, how the USA is developing, that EnglandCIV and Holland CIV are sometimes very OP in the tech tree and check the dates and speeds at which the wonders of this part of the game are "captured" by the AI.

The poll closed and it looks like the Celts are the surprise winner I am going to play as in July. I was checking this poll a few days ago and the Rus were still in the lead at that point, so I assumed everyone had already voted and expected them to be the civ to play. This is the power of democracy (besides the GPP boost).

So yeah. July actually means July so it will be a bit until the AAR starts. Let me know if you want to get anything specific out of that playthrough. At around the same time I will open up the next poll. You can still submit requests for civs to be included!

I voted Swahili but I guess we're gonna see instead just how crazy these Romans are.

Let me know if you want to get anything specific out of that playthrough.
For new civs, would it be possible to have some elaboration on what your goals and reasoning were when designing their UHV and overall play experience? That could be interesting.

Seconding this one. I'd love to know where the ideas for some of these UHVs came from. Some are obvious, like the three grand mosques for Java (spread of Islam to the various states Java represents) or Burma having to conquer SE Asia twice (because it happened twice). Others elude me, like the Hittite production goal.

I wanted a challenge that represented the Hittite innovation in the area of metalworking. You could argue the UP and UB already reflect it, but it was still an interesting choice that is different from the conquest, culture, population, and science goals that other civs in the era have. Originally the idea was to require creating/settling a great engineer but that wasn't really feasible with any reasonable deadline (except for insane strategies like getting the Pyramids etc that I did not want to encourage), and also not that interesting because it amounts to building a Bloomery, getting an engineer and waiting. So I settled on the production goal because that still incentivises building the UB.

Wasn't there a bug that prevented hammers from chopped forests from being counted toward the goal? Should definitely be doable now.
