Welcome to CFC, Valka D'Ur and smh0! [party]
@ smh0: 1. What money? We try to get money to all the provinces (that includes you!). If you talk about JC Jean Chrétien & co., we don't like him too much.
2. Tampa is lmost a Canadian team, they got lots of Quebecers, like Vinny and St-Louis.
@ Valka: Isn't there a junior hockey team in Red Deer?

Indeed there is! :) However, I'm not that familiar with the Red Deer hockey scene, as my preferred armchair sports are figure skating and gymnastics.

Oh, and point of information to smh0: I'm not a "dude"--I'm a "dudette." (female, in other words)

What money?
This money: http://www.cor.eu.int/document/nl/f...a.pdf#search='Canadian equalization payments'
Look on page 6, it's in Euros, I couldn't find a Canadian site oddly enough.
Despite the seperatist mantra that Canada is holding Quebec back, Ontario and Alberta actually keep Quebec from sinking into the Atlantic Ocean (and helps you afford all those fun little social programs).

smh0 despite what it looks like and what alot of people say, us Easterners ain't happy about it either. Blame Toronto... always blame Toronto. But my Maple Leaf (and red ensign) will never stop flying.

sHMo not sMHo ;)

anyways yeah government gives bombardier a lot of money, however i didnt know they made high speed rail stuff. interesting.

sorry dudette ;)

and yes always always always blame the T.O., and ottowa too i guess
if i had my way the country of alberta wud be strong and free im sure the guy from red deer can tell you about the alberta alliance, who i will certainly vote for in teh next upcoming election.

and finally i hate TB, we had about 50 times more people at our loss rally than they had at their "winning parade", even tho the puck was CLEARLY across the line. i wont get over that for 100 years.

I think having a voyageur as a unit is a great idea!

For Canada, I would prefer CEF Infantry, to represent the Golden Age of Canada during the World Wars

Valka D'Ur said:
Now if I were to design one, it would either be a beaver

:mischief:

Calgary had 10,000 more people at their rally. And the puck was over the line [mischief]

Odd thing to say considering most of the people you hate in Ottawa are not actually from Ottawa.
very true

I'll personnally miss Babylon. And there should be a fine editor, don't worry.
@ Brian Mc: Damn! I didn't know we got this much! And it comes from Toronto and Alberta, right? It is just money from the rich going to the poors, and as we are a lot more than PEI, we got more, part of it is kinda normal.

Yes, but when you consider the fact that seperatists claim Quebec gets a raw deal out of Confederation, it can easily be dismissed as phuey. Ontario and Alberta are the only provinces that don't profit financially from Confederation (soon to be BC I believe). One big happy family.
:)

It doesn't come from the provinces ... it comes from the federal budget. A rich person in Toronto doesn't pay anymore than a rich person in Newfoundland.

Who, or what are you, Shm0 ?
You are an embarrassment as a Canadian. You want to be an American, the border is not that far away, and I imagine you can be there in no time. Just think, if you leave right now, you get your U.S. citizenship well before Alberta becomes the 51st state.

I see 3 posts out of you and you start slagging all things Canadian. Contrary to what you believe, Alberta is not the centre of the universe. Nor is Washington, as you fervently asked for a couple posts ago. Nor Toronto, nor Ottawa.

You want to be proud of being an Albertan, that is cool. You want to be proud of the Flames, totally cool. They are a great team and did the city proud. They are also the only team in history to beat my Habs at home for the Cup(in '89), though I bet someone like you is completely ignorant of that fact.

But what pains me so much is seeing some yahoo like you sounding like some redneck, and people all over the world reading your garbage, and thinking you are representative of Canadians.

To all non-Canadians on this forum, please realize that the vast majority of Canadians are not as idiotic as this cowboy who is posting here. Oh, and also the majority of us can actually spell, as opposed to Shm0.

Whomever is moderating this site, I aplogize for going off against this clown. I usually post on things that are topical, and as you can see from the number of my posts, not a lot.

But on an international site like this, when a Canadian fires off against his own country, I feel someone must step in and intercede.

well, i'm canadian.

to make it short:
1- why ever think of including canada as a civilization???

reasons:
Canada never had any political strength.
Canada does not have any political strength.
Canada will never have any political strength.

Canada will always be a "colony" at best.

NB: i live in Québec and yes i'm a separatist.

if canadas a colony....what would a independent quebec be???? i dont think they should be a civ either but a colony...please..on of only a few countries to have a trillion dollor economy. and the smallest with a trillion dollar economy...some colony

Never have any political strength ? Hmm cant agree with that they have some not a great deal granted however i feel they are a sleeping giant. Time will tell.

Canada probably has too small a population (20 mil? that is below holland, and not significantly higher than greece) imo to ever have real political strenght. It seems that it is a very rich country, and possibly life there must be very interesting, probably more than where i live
:) But i agree with most people here that it doesnt fit the type of civs the game has

I think Canada has 30 million. Some of them don't want to be canadians, but Quebecois, others just want to be North-americans. There is a high risk of flipping cities. Ummmhhh.... It seems easy to conquer. Maybe I will land some leaders full of modern armors at Labrador and see what happens...

P.S. There is nothing else appart from winning at hockey to be proud of? Jeeze, It is truly a young country.

Edit: I vote for Jamaica. The Bobsley team that played at the olympic games rocks. That could be a fun civ. Lots of happy faces and weed.

July 2005 estimate: 32,805,041

Canada has had political power. Lester B. Pearson very well could have saved the world from a nuclear war with his work on the Suez Crisis. I'd call that political power, wouldn't you?
