Adding/Removing Techs

On starting a mod i deleted all the techs in the CIV4TechInfos.xml and left 1 tech in the file, i loaded the mod but it still had all of the other techs in the game and it worked as normal.

What am i doing wrong?
 
I've even added my own CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml to my mod and removed all of the starting techs but when i run my mod i have starting techs.

It's as if civ4 is ignoring all of my changes.
 
Sounds like you probably have some files in the wrong place(s). The location of the CIV4TechInfos.xml should be Civilization 4/Mods/[Your Mod]/assets/xml/technologies/CIV4TechInfos.xml.

If that's not what's wrong (and I can't imagine it wouldn't be) then the problem could arise from not having edited other files in the game, like the civilopedia files and such in assets/xml/text.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, hope that helps.
 
Ok i've sorted one problem...i had my mod in the install directory, and i was told there was a problem with it, so i moved it to my documents and it now loads.

I now have a completly different problem, i've added some elements to the CIV4TechnologiesSchema.xml file and added the new values into the CIV4TechInfos.xml file, it does load the CIV4TechInfos.xml file, but ignores my new additions and says it's expecting some thing else, so now it looks like it's ignoring my CIV4TechnologiesSchema.xml

afaik you can't edit the schemas atm.
