In each *unit* directory there should be a file with the .ini ext. IE if your in a unit directory called musketeer then the should be a txt file called musketeer.ini

That's your "ini" file
 
Hi there, first poster.
Colonel, I've gone through the tutorial, trying to add both the longboat and shadow warrior units from the units graphics downloads.
I've gone through it all but when I set the city production to either of these units I get a
"..\Art\Units\Longboat\LongboatDefault.flc" Not Found. Game will Exit
Or something along those lines, the not found file changes now and again.
I can't figure out what's wrong or what is missing. My scenario search folder is set to "..\conquests\scenarios\mymod\art\units"
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but this is the first thing I've ever tinkered with before. :crazyeye:

I am trying to add a unit, but you probly already knew that.
I get a error when ever i try to put him on the map in debug mode.
has a error saying something is worng with my animiname file.
I have check for spaces in the names....just dont know what im doing wrong.

wiht the INI file it has to have the same name as the folder it is in right?

a non related question...is it posable to add a 5th tech tree page after modern?

here is my 2 entries on the pediaicons.txt

got it working
i dont know what i did wrong but i just started over and it worked fine....

Try placing only "mymod" in the scenario search folder in the editor. See if that works. Make sure your scenario folder and the editor file (for your scenario) are both in the scenarios folder.
 
Okay, here we go. Step by step what I have done. I believe the only things I've left out are the "optionals"

1. Created "mymod" in Infogrames/Civ/Conquests/scenarios alonf with an Art/Units and a Text file
2. Unzipped Longboat to mymod/Art/Units Files: Longboat (config), LonboatAtt.flc, LongboatDefault.flc, LongboatRun.flc in Longboat file.
3. Editor-Custom Rules
Edit-Units
Add Longboat
Galley Icon
Availability Scandanavia
Sea unit
Civilopedia: PRTO_Longboat
4. Scenario Properties
search folders: mymod
apply, close
5. Save mymod
6. Pedial Icon copy to text
#ICON_PRTO_Longboat
art\...29galley (trireme) large.pcx
" " " small.pcx

#Animname_PRTO_Longboat
Longboat
And I'm still getting "LongboatDefault.flc Not Found. Game will now exit"
Why does it hate me so much???
 
Brian, make sure the name of the default flic in the INI file matches the name of the actual flic EXACTLY. Try that. :)


Thanks, Sabro. I had forgotten to check this for a long time because I've been away from here so long: waiting for Civ4 and currently REALLY INTO Hearts of Iron 2!
 
Blah. Freggin' newbies eh?

The INI text was missing the "g" in Longboat and there was a LongboatWidget, that didn't exist. Thanks for your patience Colonel. :goodjob:
 
More problems!

I downloaded a unit called "Roman Pikeman", and i went through ur instructions, but then realized i had no INI file whatsoever. I couldn't find it. Its just not there. Nada.
Unless it is the Configurations Settings file, i can not find it. Any idea where it might be?

I still have more problems after that. It says it cant find the Animae file for some reason, i dont know why.

I've added ANIMNAME's, Civilopedia entries, icon names and saved my scenario to DEBUG. The scenario upload w/o a problem, but when I try to place new units, a message says the Art/Units/[Unit Name]/[Unit Name].ini file cannot be found. I checked the Configuration Settings name and the folder name, and they're both the same, like you said they should be. Do you know what the problem is?

Hi all. I feel myself stupid and angry. I spent over 4 hours trying to make my old civ3 mod working with PTW with no result. It's same old known here problem - game just won't found animation for new units. I put it in both Scenario and standard unit folders, but it brings nothing. I can change only animation for any standard civ3 unit to custon one - then game found folders well, but once I try to add new unit on try to place it to the map game crashes reporting that there is no entry for animation of this unit...
Please some one check any new unit in this files in attachemnt I'll be happy to find what is my mistake, cause now I'm just have no ideas what the hell happening with this game...

scroll down to bottom of file. see files called animname? thats you problem.
you must put in a prto file, and folder or unit path, and unit name in editor too in prto section.
