As many of you will know, I with the help of particularly EmperorFool put together a little mod for BtS called Advanced Combat Odds, or ACO for short. Basically the idea behind the mod was to provide the player more detailed information about the possible combat outcomes when hovering the mouse over an enemy to attack.
I'm wondering now whether it's worth doing something similar for civ5.
Some questions:
Is there any demand for a better combat odds UI for civ5?
Are there any discussions or articles out there that detail how combat works - particularly how the outcomes (loss of hitpoints, damage dealt etc.) are determined? With civ4 I basically used Arathorn's Combat Explained article as the basis for building the mod. There's this thread of mine from about a year ago but at the time it was all speculation - something more concrete would be ideal.
Will it be necessary to wait for the DLL?
Personally I'm finding the vanilla civ5 UI a bit lacking for determining things like how likely my unit is to die or how likely it is to take more or less damage than the predicted most likely outcome.
Just like was the case in civ4, the UI for combat odds is very basic.
Any other comments welcomed.
