Has anybody else ever noticed this one? Under Democracy, with cities trapped at a 12 pop level, and waiting for hospitals, etc., you can conscript units and dissolve them immediately to accelerate your construction projects. There's no side effect as far as I can tell, as the cities are able to immediately re-populate. I use this mainly in captured lands, where pop grows fast and corruption is high. When you're conscripting Mech Inf, it's a nice little bonus - you get 25 shields.

it probably doesn't make much difference.

and welcome! may you have much fun on this forum! It's much better to contribute than to just read.

well it depends try and contribute good stuff not spam and such like which is pretty obvious i know but people still do it

Welcome.

Just be careful that you don't overdue this. Your population will become discontent with you if you use the draft too much.

Do you know any stats on the discontentedness factor? I use pop rush occasionally under despotism, and not a lot in communism, but would be nice to know.

Thanks for the responses, and the welcomes. I thought overdoing conscription might have side effects; I also only found this useful if I happen to get the Pyramids effect as a reult of "war spoils". Seemed to be a way to speed up hospital, police station, etc., although it's also a great way to deprive oneself of even more sleep than the game takes anyway :)

Hi Hard Charger!

Your strategy may be useful for those captured one shield cities but I agree that too much will make your citizens unhappy. I suspect the unhappiness caused when using this will outway, say, the happiness then gained by a cathedral got in this way in the short term.

Anyway, where abouts in Köln are you?

Paul :D

Hi,

I'm not too sure but I think that I read in the latest patches release notes that pop rushing, even only once per city, causes 20 turns of discontent. I assume this holds true for drafting as well. Thus overdoing either can lead to massive discontent rather quickly.
