samildanach: I honestly did not know about the news. I don't have access to the news all too often given that my television is broken and I don't normally take an active interest in the news as I have too many things on my mind all ready. I apologise for the bad timing of this thread but I can't do anything about it now. I'm not a troll and meant no offense. Judge me how you wish but please understand I was only trying to get some help with my future career. I'd rather not start off on the wrong foot with you (or anyone else for that matter). I did not come here to argue only for advice. I simply did not know about what had happened. I don’t want to get in to trouble about this so perhaps it would be best if a mod closed this down. If anyone can help me out please PM me. If anyone is reading this from the RN then I’m sorry about my conduct, I had no idea. Joining the Navy ? Interesting idea...

Each time I hear people talking about the navy, I think about all those days spent on the wide sea with only boys around...

Well, actually, now that there are girls in the navy, it should be pretty hard for them to not felt assaulted all the time. Unless if they love sex in which case it could be the paradise...

Oh boy! Do I feel bad now. I'm not in the Navy and I wish I could help you. I wouldn't worry about it since my impression is that there are not many if any RN guys here. A good friend of mine who actually had what for me would be the dream job as a weapons officer aboard one of our nuclear subs told me that key to getting on ( and surviving ) in the RN is to be sensitive to what is going on around you and courteous to your crew mates. As one poster has already said you will be living in close proximity to a lot of other guys and that things can get a bit tense at times.
What I suggest you do is go and do a bit of research yourself, find out about the restructuring and why the MOD is doing it and then hit the Navy boards. But don't bring up asking for careers advice for a couple of weeks- they are likely to be all doom and gloom at the moment anyway and won't present a fair picture of what the Navys future is and it would be bad form to bring it up.
