Guided by a set of trusted advisors who will explain game fuctionality and provide counsel for significant desicions...

- from Official Civilization V Site

This statement has me a little excited! While I doubt that they would be as good as the classic Civ 2 advisors, I am sure that Firaxis won't dissappoint. For those that don't know what they are all about, or those that would appreciate the nostalgia, check the following links:

ANARCHY!!!

Gotta luv em!

I hope they include Civ3 style advisers at least. The total absence of advisers in Civ4 was kind of disappointing.:(

I loved the Civ III advisers..."Deal with Catherine lightly, she is a known lair and a cheat." /angry face

Nice find! I miss those guys...

You know what they should do its get a couple of voice actors to do all the voices and then let you recruit from a large ingame pool of characters who have some small impact on the civilization (some give +1% taxes others give -2% inflation). Then we can kill them off if they become too... unruly.

I hope that the models (I assume that they will use models as opposed to the live actors like in Civ 2) that they use will be culturally seperate according to the civilization that you play... like asian for Chinese and Japan, European for England and Germany, Greco-Roman for Rome and Greece, etc. Of course, it would be nice if there dress reflected the era just like in Civ 2 as well.

I miss the CivII advisors. A few weeks ago I re-installed civII just so I could see the wonder movies again and the advisors.

I hope they do not focus on advisors to the point that it would be a detriment to the development of other aspects of the game. I am sure this won't happen.

Neat idea, but I'd rather they concentrate on making AI leaders animated (and give them a large vocabulary) rather than advisors. Advisors get old after you gain experience and don't need them anymore.

There's been a hole in my heart ever since the Civ2 diplomacy advisor left me. No, wait, I left her for Civ 3. Whatever, I want her back.

Yeah, I always had a bit of a crush on the Diplomatic Adviser-she was *HOT* :)!

I like the CivIII advisors, I hope that they are at least that level. I never played CivII. The advisors in CivIII didn't really understand the situation somethimes though. "Don't trust the English, they have betrayed out friends the Russians" (or something like that) while I am at war with Russia.

I never thought of that before. Advisors in a pool who confer a small bonus, not unlike the Managers of Railroad Tycoon 2.

I like the idea that advisors gives bonuses, and I want great persons to become advisors. It could be another thing that great persons could do, and you have to choose to use them as an advisor or do any of the other things they do. Einstien as science advisor and Sun Tzu as a military advisor! Could be too much work of doing animated heads for all great persons but it would certainly add flavor :)

civ2 advisors were fine but I only used them a few times in a game for fun, palace/throne improvement is similar for me.

especially civ2 military advisor was very good. what song was he singing? does anybody remember the lyrics?

They better talk and have personality like in Civ 2, Civ 3 was a little disapointing, and well Civ 4... *sniff*... give me a minute.

I personally could care less if they are back, and actually kind of hope the creators don't waste their time with them, but instead focus more on implementing new ideas into the actual gameplay.

Aesthetic factors like actual advisers, Civ III temple customization, Civ IV space ship customization just don't interest me. I just got more annoyed with them popping up, than this thing.

It would be nice, if there were menu options to turn off such features in Civ V, especially after you learn the gameplay and don't need adviser input.
