Hello,

After lurking for years on the forum, I'll give a try at a game report with CiV. Sorry my game interface is in french, I'll try to translate what is confusing or mysterious.

First the game settings:
Spoiler :
Options.jpg

Huge Pangea on King at Epic speed and 16 civ/24CS

I normally would not choose those settings but the AI is currently too weak on ocean so bye bye my favorites maps for now. Anyway I end up with the son of Ra whose civilisation does not depend too much on the sea. Could this be a sign?

Dawn of neolithic on the egyptian people:
Ramses_start.jpg

Wheat and wild game to feed our industrious people, ivory and marble to build and decorate my palace and above all the Nile king of rivers. That looks like the perfect place.
Therefore, in the year -4000 before I don't know what yet, the great Ramses has ordered his people to build a city that will soon be the eny of the whole civilised world, the refuge of the weak and the terror of the barbarians.

Our brave warriors are ordered to go explore the western lands while we recruit some light troops to explore the eastern woods. Finally our old wise people are asked to find a way to predict the flood of the Nile, which is so crucial for our agriculture. Strangely enough they answer that they first need the secret of cooking some kind of earth to make pots. We wonder if senility has not caught up with them but have no time to argue.
Spoiler :
Science1.jpg
Turn0.jpg

More wheat and more ivory, surely we have been blessed by Ra.

3975 BIDKWY
Our brave warriors tell us they found more wheat and some other strange plants with puffy balls of white and soft fur. Maybe our wise men will find some use to them in the future. They also find some ruins directly west from them, which they proceed to explore.

3950 BIDKWY
Spoiler :
Ruins1.jpg

The objects they find are brought back in our capitol (and only city so far) and our culture greatly progresses because of this.

3925 BIDKWY
Spoiler :
Doctrines1.jpg

Because of our culture increase, our advisors tell us we can teach some good manners to our people. We tell them to learn Tradition, which will enable them to grow bigger crops at Thebes. On their way, they meet people of a city called Sidon, obviously far less cultured than us. To show their respect of our glorious people and his divine sovereign, they give us a tribute of 30 gold.
Spoiler :
CS1.jpg

3900 BIDKWY
As they continue west, our warriors catch signs of some barbarian tribes north of their path and decide to investigate. But the barbarians seem to be in a strong position and our warriors decide not to waste time with them and continue their exploration as ordered.
Spoiler :
Barb1.jpg

3850 BIDKWY
Our warriors find some silver NW from Sidon and some more ruins to the west.

3825 BIDKWY
In those ruins, we find refugees scrapping moss from the walls to live. Always ready to come to the aid of the poor, our soldiers tell them of our glorious city were they are fed, clothed and put to work .

3800 BIDKWY
Our scouts are now ready in Thebes and eager to explore the vast world. They are sent to the east while our warriors are commanded to move towards the barbarian camp they had seen before and they catch the glimpse of new ruins. Our minister of finances advises us to recruit some workers to build new farms on the rich wheat fields of the western bank. Sounds like a good idea.
Spoiler :
Turn8.jpg

3775 BIDKWY
Our scouts discover another barbarian camp north of the western river and keep a safe distance from them for now.

3750 BIDKWY
Our warriors find gold in the ruins, most of which find its way in our coffers, some being unexplainably lost in the way. Our scout find strange plants, which make a brightly coloured liquid when squeezed. More work for our wise people.

3725 BIDKWY
Our scouts make contact with the people of a town called Copenhagen who show their good sense by giving us a tribute of 30 gold. They also see some other ruins in the NE. Our warriors find the barbarians still fortified in their camp and pass north of them.

3700 BIDKWY
In the ruins, our scouts find strange curved sticks with strings attached at each end, after much thinking :hammer2: they realise they can be used to attack enemy safely from a distance and decide to use them.

3650 BIDKWY
Our scout-archers discover some ruins in which live some more refugee. They are sent to our capitol where they will be taken good care of. Further west they also see some cows and strange insects that make balls of shiny threads. They also discover some more barbarians to the west.

3625 BIDKWY
Our scouts meet foreign people, coming grom the north, who also carry those strange curved sticks, they speak of a powerful leader called Washington who lives in a city that goes by the same name. What a lack of imagination! Back in Thebes, our wise people have finally succeeded in cooking earth and show me some strange objects they call "clay pots". We tell them they had fun long enough and it is time to find out when our river flood occur so we can avoid getting our feet wet. Our warriors are ordered to go north to find this city called Washington.
Spoiler :
Wash1.jpg

3575 BIDKWY
We meet some more foreign people, subject to a leader they call "The great Catherine". After some time, we find out, to our amazement, that this leader is a woman! On the other hand these soldiers are clothed just like women themselves with long coats and tunics while our warriors proudly wear short skirts and beach sandals as any true man would. Surely such people cannot pose a threat to our great civilisation. We offer them shelter and food in Thebes to save them from their obvious misery but they decline.
Spoiler :
Cathy1.jpg

3450 BIDKWY
Our scout meet people carrying strange weapons: long straight wood shafts with a tip of bronze. maybe they are a army of cooks looking for a barbecue? They pretend to serve a peaceful king called Askia but seem to have lots of tales about burning cities. Maybe we should be careful.
Spoiler :
Songhai1.jpg

Our workers are finally ready and are sent to build farms. We now start to recruit some more warriors to defend our glorious capitol. These last foreign encouters plus the looming threat of barbarians are not to be neglected. Our scouts find a barbarian camps and put their new weapons to good use.
Spoiler :
Barb2.jpg

3425 BIDKWY
Askia emissaries suggest that we sign a Pact of cooperation with them. We agree in a spirit of charity. Our scouts continue raining arrows on the barbarians from their hill.

3400 BIDKWY
Our scouts continue killing barbarians, few are left. But some other tribe arrives close to our capitol. They are met with arrows but many survive. Further north our warriors still have not found the fabled city of Washington but discover ruins further on their way.
Spoiler :
Barb3.jpg

3375 BIDKWY
Our warriors find ruins and gather 100 gold for our treasury. Considering that the barbarians are nearly dead, our scouts move to the ruins at the foot of the barbarian camp. There, they find strange signs carved on clay tablets. After much research :wallbash:, they find out this is a way to record words and numbers. Great! Our wise folks will surely be able to put this to good use. Then they finish off the barbarians in their camp.
Meanwhile, barbarians continue to roam close to Thebes despite the arrows that rain from our walls, they start to get dangerously close to our workers.
Spoiler :
Barb4.jpg

3350 BIDKWY
Catherine emissaries suggest we sign a treaty of open borders, we accept fearing nothing from tunic wearing warriors. Our scout find that new barbarians have taken position in their camp, they retreat on their hill and fire at them. Their long training makes them more efficient against troops hidden in difficult terrain. In order to honour them, they are given the name of Horus our falcon God.
Spoiler :
Cathy2.jpg

Around Thebes, the barbarians, obvisouly afraid of our workers, retreat in the woods.

3325 BIDKWY
Horus meet some scouts working for a king called Suleyman, we greet them peacefully. They then finish the second tribe of barbarians, leaving their camp undefended and ready to be plundered. Meanwhile our warriors, still looking for Washington find some more ruins and a huge crater, which discovery somehow fill our people with joy. Simple folks are easy to please it seems.
Spoiler :
Natwond1.jpg

The barbarians around Thebes continue to wander aimlessly while shot at from the town.

3300 BIDKWY
Horus scouts move into the empty barbarian camp and plunder 37 gold. Our warriors search the ruins they have seen and find the same strange weapons carried by the warriors of Askia and decide to use them.

3275 BIDKWY
Suleyman suggests that we sign a Pact of cooperation, to which we agree.

3250 BIDKWY
Catherine asks if we would sign a treaty of cooperation, we agree readily. Our second warrior unit is now ready in Thebes, time for a little exercise, we have stopped shooting at the barbarians those last years so they can provide our soldiers with some training.
Spoiler :
Barb6.jpg

Our spearmen continues north and discovers more barbarians camps and more ruins. In the same time Horus scouts seem to have encountered impassable mountains, they are recalled to Thebes to help our warriors fend off barbarians. In our capitol, we start recruiting new scouts to explore southwards.

3225 BIDKWY
In the north our spearmen meet some archers with a strange accent and a strong cabbage smell. They apparently follow a leader called Bismark. They find some more refugees in the ruins and direct them to our glorious city, where they will be fed figs and honey :yumyum:, before the cabbage eaters can get to them. If they only knew what they just escaped from . In the distant north they see some vast water covered area and decide to investigate this strange phenomenon.
Spoiler :
Bism1.jpg

3200 BIDKWY
The spearmen meet a new city called Hanoï and reach a place covered by water as far as the eyes can see, local people call that "The Sea". Furthermore this water is bitter and undrinkable (but maybe not for cabbage eaters, who knows what such people might drink?). This is too much for our brave spearmen and they decide to get back home.
Spoiler :

The Sea.

3175 BIDKWY
From the north-west of Thebes, come foreign spearmen bringing the greetings of an emperor called Moctezuma, quite an impressive fellow by the look of him.
Spoiler :
Monty1.jpg

Our workers start building more farms on the west bank of the Nile.

3150 BIDKWY
Moctezuma emissaries propose that we sign an open border treaty, to which we agree. Our chief wise man comes back with news that they found a way to count the passing of time by observing the stars. Rather than leave them idle, we command them to find an easy way to capture the animals that leave around Thebes so we can use their meat and ivory. Horus scouts find a new city called Oslo east from Thebes. As it should be, they show respect to our great civilisation with a tribute of 30 gold.
Spoiler :
CS2.jpg

Our new scouts are ready and start their exploration south as planned. Our foreign advisor explains that we should build some huge monument of stone based on our most recent research to improve the culture of our people and the glory of their sovereign, sounds like a good idea, espcially the last part.

3125 BIDKWY
The chief of the cabbage-eaters tells us that he is worried by Washington (probably because just like us he didn't find their city yet) and suggest we secretely agree not to deal with him. We agree with him, despite his smell because we are worried of people able to hide their city so well.
Spoiler :
Bism2.jpg

3100 BIDKWY
As fate would have it, Washington emissaries arrive just behind to ask that we sign an open border treaty. True to our word we decline an explain that now is not the time.
Spoiler :
Wash2.jpg

On their way south, our scout find some more wheat and some more elephants . While in the north, our spearmen catch a glimpse of the cabbage-eaters city and notice that the hills around seem to be rich with gold. Some barbarians appear west of Thebes but our proud warriors are ready to defend our farms should they dare to move close to them.
Spoiler :
Berlin1.jpg

3075 BIDKWY
We meet emissaries from a king called Ramkham...:crazyeye:, how can people follow a leader whose name cannot be pronounced?
Spoiler :
Ramkh1.jpg

After they depart, a travelling wise man tells us that Suleyman and ourselves lead the most industrious nations of the Earth, the people of the great Catherine seem quite hard working as well. Maybe women have a way to put men to work after all, we have to think about that. Washington and Moctezuma on the other hand lead the laziest bunch (maybe Washington peple are too busy hiding their city to do much else). We reward the wise Boèce with a drink recently invented by our thirsty peasants made of grain and water :king:.
Spoiler :
Rank1.jpg

The barbarians west of Thebes move on our farmland (maybe they want a drink too) but they are quickly dispatched by arrows from the city and our brave warriors. The latter improve their training in difficult terrain. As a reward for their defense of our capitol we give them the name of our protector God Amun.

2975 BIDKWY
We meet scouts and warriors from a leader called Alexander.
The situation at this time

2950 BIDKWY
Emissaries of Bismark suggest that we sign a treaty of Cooperation, they bring us a keg of cabbage as a present. The heat during their travel seems to have affected the cabbage but once cooked it actually tastes quite good, especially with our new national drink which the cabbage-eaters also seem to enjoy. It seems these cabbage-eaters are quite wise indeed and we quickly sign their treaty. A little later, emissaries from Alexander propose to agree not to trade with Augustus but we see no reason to agree at this point.
During their studies, our wise folks find some sturdy animal east of Thebes we had not noticed yet. maybe we could put them to good use.
Spoiler :
Horses1.jpg

2825 BIDKWY
After clearing another barbarian camp, Horus scouts meet the people of the city of Warsaw.

2750 BIDKWY
Suleyman emissaries ask us to sign an open border treaty, we accept.

2725 BIDKWY
The great monument is ready in our capitol, our people culture and more important their sovereign glory is greatly improved. Our best leaders are raised into an hereditary aristocracy as a reward of their service. We start to look for brave volunteers among our people to build another city.
Spoiler :
Stonehenge.jpg

Doctrines2.jpg

2600 BIDKWY
More exploration and fights against the barbarians, we plunder two camps. Washington emissaries again propose an open border treaty but we decline once more.

2575 BIDKWY
Our wise folks finally find a proper way of hunting the animals that live close to Thebes. We order our workers to start collecting ivory to improve the morale of the citizen and decorate our palace. After this, our wise men start to study something that they call "Philosophy". As we try to understand what this mean we quickly get a headache, which we cure with our national drink.

2525 BIDKWY
Ramkhblabla suggests that we sign an open border treaty, which we accept. Meanwhile the city of Oslo seems to have troubles with barbarians. We order Horus scouts to move to their assistance. It is time we win some friends.

2500 BIDKWY
Now Hanoï seems to have the same barbarian problems, but they are too far north. Bismark will surely come to their aid.
The overall situation looks like this, looks like everybody is more or less at the same level our lead in score is due to the building of Stonehenge.

Looks like we should improve our production and our finances and maybe slightly boost our military. Fortunately our settlers are almost ready to build a second city.

2450 BIDKWY
Our settlers are ready, they will be sent south-west to build a city on the Nile close to the place where the strange puffy plants grow. We start to recruit new warriors in Thebes.

2400 BIDKWY
Memphis is settled on the banks of the Nile. Now we have a true empire. Their priority will be to raise new workers to harvest the riches that surround them.
Spoiler :

2375 BIDKW
Ramkh... suggests that we do not trade with Washington, we agree with this wise idea. Meanwhile our scouts meet emissaries of a king named Darius. Finally in the east, Horus scouts find that roman warriors also seem eager to come to the assistance of Oslo. We will need to find a way to out manoeuvre them.

2350 BIDKW
King Askia suggests that we sign an open border treaty. Ramkh... seems much more annoyed by Washington than I am and asks me if I would go to war against him, this time I decline. My scouts then see some persian spearmen only they seem much better equipped than our own. We need to be careful. In the north, our own spearmen finally find the city of Washington.

2300 BIDKWY
Horus scouts have started attacking the barbarians that pose a threat to Oslo, apparently the romans have given up. With our cultural progress it is now time to put the emphasis on Honour, which will strengthen our soldiers morale in their fights against the vile barbarians.

2250 BIDKWY
Things are stirring up, now Bismark would like us to go to war against Ramkh... We decline politely. We see a barbarian capture an american worker close to Washington, maybe our warriors and spearmen can free these poor guys.

2150 BIDKWY
Another travelling wise man comes to our palace and informs us that the egyptians are the most unhappy people of the Earth. What a bunch of ungrateful rabble! We have this so called wise man thrown out of the palace. Then our domestic advisor reminds us that indeed we delayed the gathering of ivory and maybe this was not such a good idea.
Spoiler :
Rank2.jpg

Washington has freed his workers without our help, maybe this is why his people seem so happy.

2075 BIDKWY
Apparently the city of Copenhagen would like to see Warsaw destroyed. This is none of our business.

2050 BIDKWY
Our wise folks have finished their philosophic studies and our great mages proudly tell us that we are the first civilisation to enter the Classical age. We don't quite understand what this means but they seem happy. After some celebration we order them to study how we could collect the smooth white stone south-west of Thebes in order to improve our palace. As it seems they must first discover how to collect minerals from the earth.
Spoiler :
Era1.jpg

Meanwhile we get the word that "The Great Lighthouse" has been built in a faraway land. What is a "Great Lighthouse"? For now that remains a mystery. Our wise people explain us that since we are now a philosophical people, we can conduct research we other people. We propose such a research treaty to Bismark, who wisely accepts. We will learn to prepare rotten cabbage and we will teach them how to prepare our national drink (we decided to call it "beer").

2000 BIDKWY
Finally Horus scouts clear the barbarian camp that was threatening Oslo who immediately become our friends.

1975 BIDKWY
A messenger arrives exhausted in the palace, bringing news that the traitrous Washington just completed the Great Library and immediately entered the classical age. We were so close to the goal (2 turns). This will be paid in full sooner or later. We immediately command our architects to build a great Oracle following the request of our wise folks. Using some of the gold spared by the halt of the Great Library project, we settle the fields of cotton south-west of Memphis, soon our workers will be able to work this land.

1950 BIDKWY
Alexander and Catherine emissaries propose to share our research efforts. We agree with both proposals. Now that the Library is lost we need to find other ways to improve our knowledge.

1900 BIDKWY
We hear word that Augustus has now entered the classical age also. Askia emissaries propose a research treaty to us but we decline. We do not want to empty the state coffers.

1800 BIDKWY
Our spearmen earn some more experience fighting barbarians. They learn how to heal the wounded and are renamed Reshep in this honour.

1775 BIDKWY
Washington emissaries have the audacity to come to our palace and suggest be stop trading with our friend Ramkh... We decline, this time politely. Bruxelles asks for help destroying a barbarian camp... that Reshep spearmen are currently attacking. More friends in sight.

1725 BIDKWY
Sidon sends words that they are getting harrassed by barbarians. Our workers start to harvest cotton near Memphis. We sign an open border treaty with Catherine.

1700 BIDKWY
Ramkh... propose that we enter a research agreement, which we do. Darius suggests that we agree not to trade with Washington, which we gladly accept.

1600 BIDKWY
This time nobody completes the Oracle before we do. The culture of our people and the glory of his sovereign greatly increase :D. Our people now start to build a small library instead of The Great One.

1575 BIDKWY
Ramkh... suggests we go to war with Washington, we ask for a small delay to ready our armies. Time to spill the traitor's blood. We decline Moctezuma's offer of a research treaty since it would leave our coffers empty.

1550 BIDKWY
It seems that Augustus is looking for some help to wage war against Alexander but we are not inclined and we already have our hands full.

1475 BIDKWY
We hear word that Washington has built something he calls a Pyramid. Although we did not plan to build it ourselves right now, we feel something is not right with this. Another sign we must chastise the insolent. Our wise people start to study how to build roads to connect the two great cities of our empire.

1425 BIDKWY
Travellers come to the palace with news that "The Collossus" has been built in a faraway land. Closer to home Alexander emissaries ask us to agree not to trade with Washington, who is obviously not very popular. We of course agree.

1350 BIDKWY
We receive emissaries from a queen (another?) named Elizabeth. The people of Oslo seem to have forgotten what we did for them in the past, so we send them some gold to keep them sending fish to our hungry cities. The same goes for the people of Bruxelles, but we do not have enough money to keep both cities good graces. Helsinki requires some help after it has been attacked by Askia but we cannot do anything for them.

1325 BIDKWY
Queen Elizabeth seems unhappy with Alexander and would like us to agree on a secret treaty but we decline at this point.

1300 BIDKWY
Time for war! Ramkh... and ourselves declare war on Washington. The situation at the end of the first battle is

Meanwhile, Boèce the wise comes back to the palace to inform us that the egyptians are among the best fed people in the world. Juging by the position of Bismark, beer is better than rotten cabbage.

We decide to get rid of the barbarians who threaten our rearguard. With one warrior unit killed and most of his land plundered, Washington does not look like an immediate threat.

We learn that Elizabeth has made peace with Nobunaga.

Augustus goes to war against Bruxelles and Catherine goes to war against Askia. The second american warrior is first attacked by Horus and finished by Anubis.

Our wise men has finished studying Mathematics and start to look fro stronger metals in order to improve our soldiers equipemnt. Catherine makes peace with Askia.

Our great people celebrate the end of war with extended festivities our wise people call a "Golden Age". Probably because we earn much more gold due to our citizen zeal.
We also decide to sell our surplus ivory and Washington marble for a nice profit. Both customers are hard bargainers and we have to discuss quite some time to secure the deal.

Our wise folks discover the Administration (it looked like a good idea at the time). Meanwhile our new recruited settlers are almost ready to build a new city far in the east where they will grow silk to provide rich clothes to our population. We are told that we just entered the Middle Ages (do we really look THAT old?). A war chariot has been built at Thebes (just after barracks) to bolster our military.
We decide that the world should know about the great egyptian civilisation and we develop Patronage, Philantropy and Scholastics.

We immediately make a gift of 500 gold to Oslo to show them it wasn't just nice words. They show their gratitude by sending us much better fish than before. They also provide our markets with dyes, which makes our population (especially the female half) very happy.

The people of Warsaw now want to get rid of the city of Kuala Lumpur. They do not seem very peaceful neighbours. Anyway the great kingdom of Egypt does not make war to petty city states so we will decline their request. Below a view of our glorious war chariots in patrol around Washington.

All good things have an end and the celebrations of our victory are now over.

470 BIDKWY
We notice that Askia empire is spreading like wildfire and and we ask him politely not to settle too close from our city, he accepts but does not seem too happy about it. We preventively acquire the pastures south of Heliopolis but we refrain from doing the same with the horses north of Teghazza as we feel it would become a casus belli.
We hope that time will prove that our peaceful attitude has been rewarded.
Spoiler :
Songhai2.jpg

455 BIDKWY
Askia seems unhappy about our request and decides that it is time to end our cooperation pact. We fear trouble is coming from this side anyway and Ra be thanked, immediately after the Songhai emissaries depart, those from the Great Catherine come to propose a secret pact against Askia. We accept gladly. Next time they come we should have a silken dress ready for their queen, this we are sure, would considerably bolster our status at the russian court.
Spoiler :
Cathy3.jpg

The garrison of Heliopolis (named Menthu after some successes against barbarians) is upgraded with iron weapons and armours as a deterrence. This and the presence of Horus nearby should be enough to provide first line defence should Askia become hostile.

440 BIDKWY
We hear the news that Warsaw is attacked by Russia, we don't know why, but somehow this just seems normal. We will not ruin our good relations with Catherine to protect a bloodthirsty city state. Our wise folks have finished studying Theology and now move to Education.

395 BIDKWY
Horus discovers the city state of Seoul just north west of Oslo, they do not seem very friendly so we move along quickly.

A travelling wise man named Ptolemy arrives at our palace drawn by the many tales about its riches and tells us we are the most wondrous people of the Earth. What a wise man indeed!. We also notice that many people do not seem to care about the glory of their sovereign, what a pity.

We hear that Askia has attacked the city of Copenhagen, this is becoming serious as the latter is close to the heart of our empire. We cannot go to war against the Songhai now but we will send Horus to monitor the action and we might have to give some units to Copenhagen to help them. In Washington we buy supply and pay citizen to prepare settling another city north-west, where our scouting has revealed rich lands free for the taking. In order to fill our depleted chest we sell surplus marble to the Great Catherine for her palace.

350 BIDKWY
Catherine has declared war to Warsaw, who is helping Askai against Copenhagen. This might help the latter withstand the assault.

290 BIDKWY
News come that a young "Old wise man" is born in Thebes. He has crazy ideas about something he calls "Engineering", which he prentends can bolster our cities production. We leave him and his friends to their studies. At least while they do that, they do not drink our beer.

Elephantine is built in rich lands, we sent our trusty Reshep to protect the new city as we fear Ramkh... had his sights set on this plot :D.
Spoiler :
Elephantine.jpg

Askai is assaulting Copenhagen, maybe it is time to help them. We also now get silk from Heliopolis, which greatly pleases the people of Thebes and Memphis. Considering the main outcome is a boost to population increase, we wonder what kind of clothes the silk is used to make. Finally Bruxelles send word that they are looking for Rome, so are we. Which is strange since we have been told many times that all paths lead to Rome.

260 BIDKWY
Well it seems that Ramkh... really had his sights on this plot of land because him and Alexander declare war on the glorious egyptian empire. But as this causes our research treaty to prematurely finish we unlock the mysteries of Mechanics. We are thus at war against Greece, Siam and Sidon. Maybe with a hefty bribe, we could get Hanoï to fight on our side in a few turns.
Spoiler :
War9.jpg

Our generals are concerned by the extension of our empire, Siam will attack from the north, Greece from the south and Sidon from the west. If we juge by the last war, Siam might be slow to gather their armies, we will therefore face the south-western threat first and bide our time in the north. If we can get Hanoï to fight for us maybe we won't have to do anything on this front but defend our two cities.
First thing is to quickly raise crossbowmen in Thebes. Then now that we have spare ivory, sell some to good old Bismark. Some more will come within 30 years when a new camp is ready close to Memphis.

The crossbowmen recruited in Thebes and our great general Hernan Cortez move to the west of Memphis to scout the area for greek and sidonese forces.

230 BIDKWY
Around Whashington Amun and our chariot finish the two siamese archer. The warriors of Amun are now experts in fighting against archers and should suffer less casualties in their future battles. Another siamese archer appears north of Elephantine, the garrison fires on them from the town, they are then killed by the pikemen of Reshep who se in the north-west a wounded warrior and some settlers. Tempting target, but is it a bait? Note that out of precaution we claimed the land where the sugar cane grows.
Spoiler :
War10.jpg

215 BIDKWY
Ramkh... builds a city just north of Elephantine, they immediately start firing at Reshep. Our soldiers again learn to better fight against archers, then retreat to Elephantine as attacking the city seems too risky.
In the East the Great Catherine has declared war to Askia, may her armies triumph! We now have some more ovory, which we sell to Darius.

185 BIDKWY
Siamese workers venture out of their new town, almost within range of the pikemen from Reshep, it is too tempting to ignore.
Spoiler :
War12.jpg

South of the woods of Memphis we see some archers threatening the workers that build sawmills there. Our crossbowmen move to protect them, while Hernan Cortez remains in town. We then raise a swordsmen unit in Thebes, which almost empties our coffers. Fortunately our income is quite good.

170 BIDKWY
The siamese workers retreat north, another warrior arrives from the west and we see still another settler. Our pukement go back to Elephantine, there is nothing useful they can do here.
In the south, greek units arrive in greater number. One archer unit is killed by our crossbowmen.
Spoiler :
War14.jpg

How many more are there behind?

155 BIDKWY
South of Memphis, our swordsmen are nearly killed by the charge of a hoplite unit. This is not what we had in mind, a quick change of strategy is needed. We rely on Memphis garrison and our crossbowmen firepower to cripple two units but beware of the retaliation.
Spoiler :
War15.jpg

140 BIDKWY
The battle south is getting tense. Our crossbowmen have suffered serious losses and have retreated in Memphis, from which our swordsmen and Hernan Cortez are now gone. We need shock troops now, the only way is to borrow some money from Augustus to raise a pikemen unit in Thebes.
Spoiler :
War16.jpg

125 BIDKW
Our swordsmen have been brought back to Thebes to recover. Memphis has withstood a first assault and two greek units have been seriously damaged by our troops. The newly recruited pikemen are in position west of memphis and we have brought back the chariot unit from Washington. In the middle of all this war planning, emissaries from a foreign leader called Hiawatha are almost unnoticed.
Spoiler :
War17.jpg

110 BIDKWY
So much for our war chariot, the unit has been destroyed by an almost destroyed hoplite unit. Which is promptly finished by the garrison of Thebes. The fighting around Memphis goes on, our pikemen bravely clear the west bank of the greeks, all remaining units are now on the other side of the Nile. The greek army prevents our workers to work several ressources around memphis, this causes unhapinness among the population.
Spoiler :
War18.jpg

In the north, Ramkh... now has two cities close to Elephantine but no military action since the early skirmishes. So far, so good.
Spoiler :
Northfront.jpg

95 BIDKWY
On the southern front, the greek army retreats out of range from Memphis. We will use this pause to heal our units. Oda Nobunaga has declared war on Elizabeth

80 BIDKWY
Strange greek tactics: his armies are now back in place but the respite he gave us has allowed to increase our fighting strength. In the middle of the military activities, the people of Thebes have completed the pyramid of Chichen Itza.
With the help of our crossbowmen, our pikemen manage to destroy one greek warrior unit on the eastern bank of the Nile. Two other greek units are now in danger of being destroyed.
Spoiler :
War19.jpg

65 BIDKWY
In he south the greek army is routed. Our pikemen destroy an archery unit, they train to be able to heal the wounded and are renamed Nekhbet as a mark of honour.

In the north, siamese warriors come too close to Elephantine, they are attacked by the garrison and finished by Reshep.
Spoiler :
War21.jpg

50 BIDKWY
We hear word that the Great wall has been built in a faraway land. In the north, Reshep retreat to Elephantine while in the south the two remaining greek units are destroyed. Despite these losses, Alexander refuses to enter into peace talks.

To be continued...

You might have said it somewhere amidst all the screenshots, but what difficulty is this?

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. :P

35 BIDKWY
We hear that Augustus has declared war to Darius and that the ottomans have signed two research treaties, one with Moctezuma and one with Alexander.
On the northern front, siamese units surround Elephantine, the attacks from the garrison seem to have little effect. We will let Reshep heal so they can deal with this threat.
Spoiler :
War22.jpg

Our swordsmen destroy the barbarian camp west of Thebes and learn to fight better in difficult terrain and are given the name of Sekhmet.

20 BIDKWY
The Great Catherine, Suleyman, Nobunaga and Augustus enter the middle-age but we enter Renaissance (very appropriate for a pharaoh).
On the northern front, the siamese armies go back towards their cities. Not much action there, which is exactly what we want for now. There will be action soon enough when we are ready.

5 BIDKWY
England has been conquered by the japanese, Suleyman declares war to Hiawatha who is likely to go down fast.
On the northern front, a siamese army comes very close to Elephantine. It is harassed by the garrison and quickly dispatched by Reshep.

10
Our wise old folks explain us that we have crossed the year 0 and seem to attach a great importance to this fact. We did not notice any difference.
Hiawatha emissaries ask us to agree on a secrecy pact against Augustus. Although the latter has been rather hostile recently we decline as we hope to improve our relations with him later. Then Oda Nobunaga suggest we go to war against the Catherine. Attack our russian friends? Never!

25
The citizen of Thebes and Memphis have grown accustomed to silk, they now want silver and spices respectively. Spices grow close to Elephantine and silver can be found in the hills close to the treacherous Sidon allied to the no less treacherous Ramkhblabla.
A barbarian camp is reported by travellers, north-west of Heliopolis. We send the swordsment of Menthu deal with them. They could use some exercise.

40
The ottomans have lured our friend from Oslo to their side, we send them 250 gold to remind them who their true friends are.
A look at the turkish expansion, I fear war will be coming from this side soon. We must finish business on the western front.
Spoiler :
Eastfrontier.jpg

55
Maybe we were worrying too much as Askia emissaries come to our palace asking that we declare war on Suleyman. So the Turkish-Songhaï alliance we feared seems unlikely to materialise soon. We of course politely decline, we have work at hand in the west. Soon after Suleyman's emissaries come to ask us to declare war on Askia, they are definitely not the best of friends, all is well under the Sun.

On the northern front, Ramkh... continues sending his units peacemeal, to be easily slaughtered.
We offer to make peace with Alexander in exchange of a tribute of 18 gold, which he accepts. We might have squeezed more out of him, considering he has the smallest army of the world now but we must show magnanimity in victory.

85
Alexander emissaries ask us to agree on a secrecy pact against Augustus, we decline.

130
Seoul declares that they would like to see Oslo conquered, we immediately swear to protect the latter should any empire attack them.
Ramkhblabla seems to have understood that he was outmatched, his emissaries come cap in hand with a peace offer. We show our magnanimity and agree to these conditions. We are now only at war with Sidon.
Spoiler :
Ramkh3.jpg

In the east we use our gold to claim valuable lands to block Askai's expansion.
Spoiler :
Eastfrontier2.jpg

We also meet emissaries from a leader called Gandhi.

145
Gandhi's emissaries come back with an offer of cooperation, we see no reason to say no. Our cultural progress enable us to adop Aesthetics, which awes the CS around the world. from now on they will befriend us more easily.
Spoiler :

The egyptian war machine, led (from behind) by the illustrious Hernan Cortez, marches towards Sidon.
Spoiler :
War23.jpg

160
Soliman emissaries come to our palace and ask us if we could give them 648 gold. We politely tell them where to go. Gandhi's emissaries are back once more (maybe we should keep a room for them in the palace) and suggest that we agree not to deal with Askia whom their leader if wary of, we of course agree to this excellent idea. Finally we receive japanes ambassadors and sign a research treaty with Nobunaga.
Our armies progress towards Sidon and we see some of their forces.
Spoiler :
War24.jpg

175
Askia emissaries ask us to sign a research treaty with them but we decline. Then guess who's back at the palace? Gandhi's emissaries once more (beer-loving folks these guys), their leader want us to go to war against Oda Nobunaga. This time we must say no.
A travelling wise man called Pline arrives at the palace and tells us that we command the fifth more powerful army of the world. The Great Catherine commands the strongest army as it seems, which is rather a good news. Another great news is that the armies of Suleyman does not look so strong.
Spoiler :

190
We hear news that the persian capitol has been conquered. Augustus war machine seem quite impressive indeed.

205
Two armies of Sidon assault our troops who were resting in preparation for a new attack. One of them is destroyed by our crossbowmen, the other succeeds in inflincting serious losses to Nekhbet. But they cannot win such war of attrition.
Spoiler :
War26.jpg

220
Sidon send some more forces but all are detroyed.

280
We heard news some time ago that Copenhagen was no longer allied with Russia. After a few turns to make sure we do not step on their toes, we send a gift of 500 gold to them to make them our allies. Some more fish in our markets.
Our forces are now ready for an assault on the city of Sidon itself.
Spoiler :
War27.jpg

295
Nekhbet and Sekhmet take position in front of the walls while our crossbowmen attack the garrison. Much depends on how strong the latter will retaliate.
Spoiler :
War28.jpg

310
Our first attack on Sidon is repulsed but the garrison has been significantly weakened. their catapults have not inflicted many losses.
Spoiler :
War29.jpg

325
Augustus emissaries arrive at our palace and suggest we sign a pact of secrecy against Nobunaga. Although are relations with Rome have improved, we must decline. We also hear news that Oda Nobunaga has declared war to Russia.
Sidon falls to our forces and is annexed right-away to our empire, to which they start providing silver. Peace at last reign over the kingdom of Egypt. But for how long? Ra only knows.
Spoiler :
Sidon.jpg

340
The conquest of Sidon has made a few neighbours uneasy, Bismark emissaries tell us that our pact of cooperation has come to an end. No one seems openly hostile though. The citizen of Thebes rejoice about our acuisition of silver.

355
Bismark now wants to cancel our pact of secrecy against Ramkhblabla, which is fine with us since he does not pose a real threat for now.
The grandeur of the egyptian people and the glory of their sovereign manifest itself in their creation:

Another "Youg-Old wise man" is born in Thebes, he has revolutionary ideas about something he calls "Physics".
On the eastern frontier we see that Askai has settled a new town south-east of Heliopolis. We also notice some strong Songhaï units close to our borders. Menthu swordsmen are sent closer to the border and Horus is equipped with crossbows as a precaution.
Spoiler :
Eastfrontier3.jpg

370
Things could hardly be better, Askia has indeed declared war on Suleyman. That will keep them busy. Both Catherine and Nobunaga propose that we sign an open border treaty, we agree to sign with Catherine but decline with Nobunaga out of respect for Russia.

400
Gandhi's emissaries are back, this time they would like us to declare war on Suleyman. Quite a warmonger this Gandhi ;). We decline, which seems to disappoint them.

415
In order to keep good relations with Gandhi (and to fill our coffers), we sell him some marble. A good part of the money is spent to improve the weapons of Menthu, which soldiers are now equipped with longer swords. While trying to sell this marble we noticed that Bismark really seems annoyed of our taking Sidon. We will have to sweeten him in the future, our people have grown found of their sauerkraut.

430
We build Alexandria north-west from Heliopolis and close to (still) unexploited gold deposits.

445
Moctezuma would like us to agree to a secret pact against catherine, we of course decline.

460
Due to our expansion, the overall hapinnes of our citizen is getting low. We send a hefty sum to Hanoï in order to make them our allies. They should be sending us some whale oil soon.

535
Another wonder is built by the industrious egyptian people (and his glorious sovereign)
Spoiler :
Tower.jpg

A new wise man named Isaac Newton is born in Washignton and since Physics has already be invented, he proves how potent gunpowder is by blowing his laboratory and himself up. We need to remeber to build a monument to honour his sacrifice.

700
Egypt is enjoying a long period of peace and prosperity. We decline a research treaty offer from Suleyman and an open border treaty from Nobunaga. In the far north, our scout make contact with the city state of Tyr.

715
Nobunaga emissaries propose that we join them in a war against the SonghaPi but we decline. We also hear word that Persia has been vanquished.

730
Now Gandhi's emissaries come to suggest the same thing. Askia is obviously very unpopular in the east. Pline is back in our palace and tells us that Egypt is the most wonderful country of all.

Great read mate, keep up the good work! ;)
One question though, what kind of victory are you aiming for?

Well, that is the question ;). In all good logic, Ramse, protector of the weak and glorious pharaoh should aim at Cultural (but I think it is far beyond my reach now) or Diplomatic victory. So I currently aim for the latter.

760
Augustus suggests that we go to war against Ramkh... We politely say no thanks.

860
Emissaries from the Great Catherine arrive at our palace to suggest we go together to war against Nobunaga. We say politely no.

870
Ramkhblablaa and Gandhi suggest we should go to war against Nobunaga, we decline in both instances. Our scout in the south make contact with a city called Dublin. Its inhabitants seem very interested by our national drink, wise people the lot of them. At the same time we learn that they are under attack from Moctezuma. Beer-lovers of the world, unite! We will give troops to the dubliners so they can protect their land against the invaders. We raise a troop of volunteers in Thebes, arm them with our new gunpowder weapons and send them to Dublin.

880
Emissaries of the Great Catherine are back, they now suggest we agree on a secrecy pact against Nobunaga. Considering the recent japanese warmongering, we accept.

910
We see siamese settlers and warriors pass just north of Thebes and mention to their king that any city built too close from our borders would be considered casus belli. Of all people he should know. He is obviously very unhappy about our warning.

940
Askia and his vassals declare war on Copenhagen, which I had sweared to protect. We prepare to go to war again, a unit is raised at Heliopolis and another one in Thebes, both are equiped with firearms. Hernan Cortez and his troops are summoned from the western front.

950
Messengers from Askia mention their attack on Copenhagen, we tell them that this will not stay unpunished, they seem ready.

Our eastern troops will quickly move back to protect the town after they helped mopping up the sonhhaï forces around Copenhagen. A songhaï unit is killed by our crossbowmen and Menthu captures the workers left unprotected afterwards.

1020
Our troops move south-east but the enemy has retreated out of sight. The bulk of our army closes on Kuala Lumpur to clear their forces before they take Warsaw. Horus and Menthu move back to Heliopolis with the captured err liberated worker in case Askia attacks there.
Spoiler :
War34.jpg

1030
Askia emissaries arrive cap in hand and ask for peace, offering a generous tribute. Our main objective, to keep Copenhagen free, being achieved, we see no reason to continue war against the Songhaï. On the other hand, we are still at war against Warsaw and Kuala Lumpur. In order to permanently secure access to wine, we plan to befriend Warsaw, using Askia money to bribe them. Kuala Lumpur will give us a little exercise and a worker. We don't plan to annex any cities to avoid being seen as a dangerous warmonger. The wine given by Askia rejoices our citizen in Elephantine and our friends in Venise and Hanoï. These Songhaï can't fight, but they sure know how to live.
Spoiler :

1040
The wise people of Warsaw have switched their alliance and are now our friends. Some more wine for our tables.

We hear word that Suleyman entered the Renaissance era. Our troops plunder around Kuala Lumpur and will head home with another "liberated" worker.

1060
Moctezuma has made peace with Dublin. Hurrah for the beer-lovers! Let us hope the troops we gave them were useful. We finish plundering around Kuala Lumpur and offer them to make peace. A wise man from Warsaw named Aristotle decides to offer his services, impressed by our grandeur. He suggests that we could improve our farming using horse dung. We wonder if he did not have too much of the local wine but his idea seems effective.

1080
Our culture is thriving and we use it as a diplomatic tool. Thanks to this our allies provide us with more ressources, which improves our people happiness.

We propose a research treaty to Alexander ambassadors and even fund some of their investment as the greek do not have the full 450 gold. They will be useless as allies if they go to war with Rome with hoplites and hetairoi.

1380
So much for our strategic insight, while we were worrying about roman ambitions, our chinese neighbours were secretly working at our undoing. They drop of the mask with a formal declaration of war.
Wu1.jpg

She managed to draw Ramkhblabla in her plot, he apparently learned nothing after his first attack on the glorious egyptian empire. Not to mention the fact that he has already a war with Rome and another with Moctezuma.
Heliopolis will be the main theater of our war against the chinese. We start by upgrading the equipemnt of the soldiers of Menthu and position Horus so as to block the pass, while keeping our forces out of reach of Ningbo catapults. The crossbowmen in Heliopolis are positioned behind in support and their equipment upgraded also. This looks like a good defense except that we notice none of our units there has been trained to heal the wounded. That will be next on their "to learn" list. Our intention is to first bleed the chinese army dry by letting them attack us on a very strong defensive position, then counterattack to finish them off.

Chinese emissaries come to our palace begging for peace and offering a mighty tribute to win our clemency: gems, coal, incense and 93 gold per turn. They have drawn upon themselves the rightful wrath of the egyptian people. We have taken their towns, we have slaughtered their armies, we have burnt their farms, we have eaten their cattle, we have drunk their wine and barfed in their wells but we will show that we are also merciful and agree to their proposal. Right behind them are the siamese emissaries who offer, well almost everything except their capitol and their underwear. We have little use of these filth-covered pits they call towns, so we just take their tribute and peace again reigns on the egyptian empire.
