After the Launch

No spies given, that is an optional build strategy

Workers, settlers and Great People are given to everyone equally to allow for a faster pace game, whether we decide to just have them given or have them pre-installed or both. As Mitchum mentioned pre-installed Great Engineer can significantly improve build times

Hello everyone

We are moving forward, we will get 3 Great People standing in our Capitol.

Please message Mitchum with your selection, also please include your Civilization choice and Leader if there is a choice.

Choose wisely, these choices will widely diversify you from the other players. It kind of plays into the ideological theme of Planet Fall but with no need to reflect the same ideology here as in Planet Fall.
If you choose an aspect to be random please advise Mitchum, if you have the time describe to him your thoughts or strategy, he feels the use of GP is a very good thing :)

Lastly if you know of anyone you think might be interested drop them a line, I will be doing the same this weekend

My idea: Each of you could privately notify me which flavors of great people that you'd like for the three you're given.

For example, player A may ask for a GS and two GEs with the plan of using the GS for an Academy, GE #1 to rush the Pryamids and GE #2 to settle in the capital for the extra hammers. Player B may want three GSs and use all of them to bulb Rocketry straight away and start on the Apollo program on T0 (not 100% sure the GS preference would buld Rocketry, but you get the idea).

This adds another element of strategy to the game. It also allows you to do this in private as opposed to letting everyone else know what you're up to with your great people.

Of course, the number of great people is up for debate as well as whether this should be private or public.

I already have the perfect idea... Muhahahahahahaha!

GE #1 to rush the Pryamids

Wait, I thought this was supposed to be a Modern start?

I´d like to have America, not sure about the leader yet.

Somehow that doesn't surprise me Imp. Equally as evil.
But keep your selections and strategies private only to Mitchum, this is the first phase of Awe LoL

Don´t worry, I already sent a PM to Mitchum and you won´t learn of my big evil plan until it´s too late anyway...

Btw are we allowed to keep grudges from the first game in the second one? Because then I might change my evil approach a bit, most notably by removing the evil part.

Also my civ choice is kinda sentimental because America was the first civ I ever won a game with, back then in Vanilla, and by Space Race to boot.

What I've seen in the WB is that you must select each player and select under that the Era but note that only for that player not global. After that or from that no buildings or wonders are built, these buildings/wonders like for example "Eath 2010" we're placed by the scenario's creator, I know this because the only thing you can build ing that scenario is modern relevant things. I have recently given advice how to use the WB. It sounds hugely difficult to get these cities right

I don't play around with advanced starts too often, but I assumed that all ancient wonders would still be available to be built in the later eras... a simple test game could verfy it but I'm away from Civ at the moment.

I presume by 'advanced starts' you mean starts with another starting era than Ancient, as in you choose it in the Costum Game setup.
I play some now and then and I can assure you that no, all the old Wonders are not available. If you read the corresponding Civilopedia articles you will see that most say something like "only available on Ancient/Classical/Medieval/whatever starts or earlier", which means pretty much that. Would be kinda weird too, after all you most likely start with a tech that would obsolete an older wonder anyway.
Another thing I should mention in that context is the founding of religions: If you choose an era that includes founding techs in your starting ones, all the religions that should already exist by that point (which would be all of them from Renaissance starts onwards) will be randomly founded after some five turns.

Good to know about the earlier era wonders. As I said, 99% of my games have been with an Ancient start so I don't have much experience with games that start later.

Yes, I had though of this already. Since I'm going to pre-settle everyone's first city, I planned to randomly assign each player a religion and set it as the holy city on T0. That way, everyone is assured to get a religion. It would suck if the AI player(s) ended up with some of the religions and a human player or two didn't get one... I'm not sure that would happen but I can prevent it anyway.

All sounds like good ideas here guys. Yes, just give us each a religion to be fair... in the modern world religion isnt a major consideration anyway ;)

And yes, lots of wonders will be obsolete and therefore not able to be built just by using the later era start. No need to mess around with anything too much, just do a modern start, then worldbuilder the additions and first city or two, whatever the plan is.

Mitchum I will PM you shortly with my selections.

Ok is everyone still here? If so can we get together here and blow some wind in these sails.

Ground Control? Are we reaching you? Ground Control?

Currently we are looking for players, atleast 2 more.

Current players need to select their Leaders and Civilization to start map building

Eclipse: Ragner of the Vikings (The Voyager)

I want the US of A, not sure about the leader yet though. I play the LoR mod so often, I´m not sure of the Vanilla BtS traits of its leaders. Was it Charismatic/Expansive for Washington, Philosophical/Charismatic for Lincoln and Industrial/Organized for Roosevelt? If my guess is right, I want Lincoln please.
I already told the mapbuilder about my choice of starting GPs in a PM some months ago I think.
