Again???

OMG, are you serious?? Or are you just getting news late??

He's completely serious. :(

It crashed on takeoff at Kenedy Airport, More indicative of accident than terroism attack, but we shall see. Exloding engine at takeoff souds like it sucked in so debries.

CNN reports is was American Airlines A-300 on the way from Boston to New York to Dominican Republic.

BTW CNN.com is down, so don't try to access it.

240ish people and 9 crew

Hit Rockaway section of queens heading for Santa Domingo

It took off at 9:15 crashes at 9:17

Engine supposedely blew up and fell then plane just slammed down. Explosion at center of plane where wing meets.

NYC is in lockdown all airports, bridges, and tunnels closed

It was AA flight 587

It looks like an accident. Not a very 'interesting' place to hit. Then again, it's a heck of a timing, and a our 'friend' in Afganistan said it'll rain planes.

But I suggest watching CNN or another news sender. It just happened. And let's gather info here.

Nothing new to add, reports that the engine blew up make me think it was mechanical. That rules out a bomb in the fusilage. If it was terrorists, it could have been sabotage or ground fire, but thats not too likely. A huge loss of life nonetheless...

To everyone in NY, you again have my condolences.

Dear God, not again. My thoughts and prayers are with NY at the moment.

I think it's worse if it wasn't the terrorists (not that it could get much worse), as if they said they were going to rain planes they are going to think its a sign from Allah and become even more fanatical. It'll make the war much longer.

God, I hope none of my relatives in the US were on that flight.

Same here. It said about the flames on the news but there is still a possibility that it could be terrorists.

did anyone on the ground die?

Yes, it landed on a bunch of homes in Queens. Something like half a dozen homes burned to the ground, another bunch damaged, and one gas station that had one of the engines land on it.

Although it most certainly is a little early to speculate, I wouldn't count out another terror attack. After all, Al Queda loves to mark aniversaries of terror attacks with more terror attacks and saying as this is one day off of exactly two months from the last f-up terrorist attacks are more than merely a possibility.

...As if it would be so hard to get a job at the airport as someone with maintainence access. Loosen one bolt or fuel line or electrical system and its just a matter of time untill a failure occurs.
