Swedes launch boycott of US goods in response to recent policy shifts

Did the Canadian CFC members do something inappropriate language-related to your cornflakes?

This wasn't funny when Trump started. It became less and less funny as time's gone on. Now he wants to annex Toronto.

Could CFC AT LEAST BE SOMEWHAT CIVIL ABOUT THIS?
Who says it's funny?
I agree it isn't funny at all. I think Canada is for the Canadians.

When you wrote "Its a puppet state at this point", it appears that Valka thought you meant Canada.

Well, if you will pick an argument, I don't know why you'd be surprised when you get pushback.

I take it that this is permission to push back? Thank you.

Then what's this BS about a "puppet state"?

I do NOT have a sense of humor about this, so you're going to have to explain yourself without dancing and coy evasions.

I don't think too many of us Canadians have any sense of humor remaining whatsoever about any and all variants of "not even a real country anyway". They were only moderately funny when someone wasn't trying his darnedest to make them real ; they are now altogether not funny.

The radicalization throughline from "Not even a real country anyway" to "Better off as the 51st state" is not exactly hard to see.

Why is it supposedly not a real country? Because of its short history as an independent country? The United States is not exactly San Marino either...

They never were funny. The first time I ever got involved in a locked thread situation here on CFC was during my first year, where I spent all my time in the Civ forums (hadn't even heard of OT back then). Someone started an argument over whether Canada does or does not have our own culture. The moderator at the time assured me the threadlock wasn't my fault, but things did get very contentious.

There are plenty of other countries younger than Canada, as regards independence.

Some who yap on about the "not a real country" seem to zero in on the stuff Trump and his gang are spouting, whether it's him or some of those obnoxious "newscasters" on Fox.

There's some musing going on that maybe we should join the European Union. We share a land border with Denmark, a maritime border with France, French is one of our official languages... it's an intriguing thought.

I'd take 28th over 51st in a heartbeat.

As to the jokes, I found some funny, but they were *very* dependent on circumstances even then (and most Americans making them not great at reading the room). Now the circumstances are always bad, and so are the joke.

Even Gretzky's not good at reading the room. By this point, he's no better than a Canadian of Convenience.
