Against the Entire World I

Round 4: 650BC - 25BC

As soon as this round starts, good news strike. Kublai Khan has converted to Islam!! Alright, we got a friend!! Also, I settled Baghdad in the south - nothing major (rice, bananas and a bit jungle that needs to be cleared).

Speaking of religion, we meet one of the fanatics.

Isabella.jpg

A few turns later, I find that 2 civs already have Alphabet (I'm almost done researching) so I dial up Roosevelt and strike a deal.

RooseveltTrade.jpg

Then, I meet another guy who I hate in most games.

Justinian.jpg

This guy is a beast when played by an AI from my experience. Either way, we now make a deal with Churchill.

ChurchillTrade.jpg

We research Alphabet and then pull a few more trades.

JustinianTrade.jpg

QinTrade.jpg

A few turns later, big news!! Islamic monastery finished in Mecca (I can build missionaries but more importantly a Great Prophet is born and ....)

IslamicMonastery.jpg

ShrineBuilt.jpg

Churchill converts to Islam almost immediately and the number of cities with Islam soon skyrockets and my income goes through the roof.

Since my closest neighbours converted, I try to find a new target and I do .. Bismarck's Germany.

ScoutFindsGermany.jpg

We are also the first to research CoL and we found Judaism.

JudaismFounded.jpg

Then, people come with demands which we reject.

IsabellaDemand.jpg

TokugawaDemand.jpg

You may notice that Toku converted to Taoism - this can only mean one thing..

As the round ends, we meet 2 more rivals.

Here's the map overview and our glorious capital.

Mecca-CityScreen.jpg

Based on my situation now and the fact that I build quite a few axemen/horse archers, my next round will involve rapid expansion. I can afford 8-10 cities considering I have not build a single courthouses and am still making money at 100% research thanks to my shrine.

State of the World to follow.

Swap two grasslands to scientists in your capitol. You're at the happy cap at the moment with +4 food.

Hey, this game has been abandoned for a while (I stopped cuz of lack of interest but I've decided to finish it off so I'll be posting the updates about midweek).

I didn't mean lack of my interest but lack of general interest .. I shall post the next round soon .. along with the 4000BC and 25BC saves for those who want to play a shadow game ..

btw, yu should play huge maps. Standard is big enough and takes long enough

also, there isnt any point in sharing a game like this if you dont post a real save for folks to play along and compare strategies

Just keep it coming Danko8. Love these games.

Round 5: 25BC - 600AD

And so this round starts with me having an idea of expanding (I only have 4 cities). While my army of HA's is assembling, I see a new face..

Pericles.jpg

But then my buddy Kublai shows up demanding Priesthood ... I agree and then pull of this trade for some happiness.

KublaiTrade.jpg

So here's my assembled army. I feel confident, declare on Huayna the heretic and move in. I even bribe Churchill to help - Monotheism + War on Huayna for HBR + Monarchy.

Monotheism.jpg

I decide to research theology next for the Apostolic Palace.

SetonTheology.jpg

Mao just converted to Islam and wants to open borders .. cool.

MaoOpenBorders.jpg

My troops in Incan territory .. well they all died .. I bypassed the first city because it had lots of spearmen and went at the capital, but got unlucky .. 2 injured spearmen, a swordsmen, and an archer wiped out 8 horse archers. Oh well.. And I tell Gilgamesh he is not welcome here.

ScatteredTroops.jpg

Gilgamesh.jpg

Huayna wants Medina for peace .. yea ok keep dreaming buddy; I got construction so a new elepult wave is coming.

IncaPeace.jpg

Theology is done, we start on the AP, found Buddhism, and start on Paper so we can get maps off of people and work towards liberalism.

BuddhismFounded.jpg

SetonPaper.jpg

Then, we refuse demands by 3 heretics that come in without knocking.

TokugawaRefused.jpg

JustinianRefused.jpg

PericlesRefused.jpg

I may regret pissing those people off later on.. To make things worse, I have to pay 21 gold to prevent grain losses.

GrainEvent.jpg

Just as my elepult army assembles, I see a batch of spearmen of Huayna and I decide to pay him monotheism for peace - it's an old useless tech now.

Strong Points So Far:
- Excellent Religious Economy - I'm researching at 100% with 0 courthouses thanks to shrine income
- Excellent Tech Situation
- Lots of Allies - 6 Nations have adopted Islam out of total 14 we know and the top 2 civs after ours are one of those 6

Weak Points So Far:
- Few Cities
- Below Average Army (result of that wipeout by Huayna )
- A dangerous Christian Block is in town - Huayna, Ceasar, Gilgamesh, and Justinian

you might want to think about improving your land...I mean working a dry grassland tile...pure waste. At least make a cottage. You only have one other city which isnt a total non factor. 3 out of 5 cities arent useful in teching or cashflow. You really have to improve your tiles.

Just adding my support. Not much to contribute, but I am following the thread. Even that the game is out off my league. Myself is just struggling on the Noble level.

Glad to see there is some support ..

I plan to have the next round by tonight.

Here are the saves ppl asked for:

Looking good so far....
Good idea to go after Huayna, he could be a monster later if you don't chop off his head now.
I will be following too.

ROUND 6: 600AD - 1060AD

I start of the round by making a trade with Gilga and discovering Paper - I go on to Aesthetics to enable Literature for the GL.

GilgaTrade1.jpg

Paper-Aesthetics.jpg

This is something you don't want to do if you're Ceasar .. the guy has many time more archers and axemen than praetorian. :crazyeye:

Whatnottodo.jpg

But then, someone poisons my well in Mecca and that causes a lot of pain..

WellPoison.jpg

I then do 3 more trades and complete Aesthetics and start Literature.

GilgaTrade2.jpg

BismarckMapTrade.jpg

PericlesTrade.jpg

Aesthetics-Literature.jpg

Christian Gilga just started a way with my religious buddy Bismarck and he wants my help .. sorry man; no hard feelings, k?

I meet 2 more civs..

Willem the founder of Taoism, the largest religion.

Willem.jpg

And Hatty - also a Taoist.

Hatty.jpg

Meanwhile, Christian Justinian declared war on my buddy Mao (or vice versa) and wants my help.. buzz off.. I already told you I hate this guy.

And then that bastard Huayna demands.. nope, try another time.

HuaynaDemand.jpg

Literature is done and I start CS for macemen and I also complete ..

Aesthetics-CS.jpg

APDone.jpg

And I get elected president.

APPresident.jpg

Caesar demands a world map .. meh you can have that .. have fun.

CaesarDemand.jpg

CS is done and I start on Education for Liberalism .. I figure someone will trade me Machinery soon. Also, the GL is done.

CS-Education.jpg

GLDone.jpg

Gilga demands that I declare on Bismarck .. dude, no means no.

Gilga wait, I do want to trade though..

GilgaTrade3.jpg

Then, Bismarck demands I cancel deals with Gilga - I thought about this but decided not to .. Gilga is the most advanced civ after me and I want him as a trading partner + he's got a good army.

I make the National Epic in Mecca.

Tough situation .. I can't decide whether to attack the Incas or Bismarck. Inca are stronger and more of a threat, but they'll put up heavy resistance.

Bismarck is weak and also at war with Gilga who actually captured one and razed another of this cities so if I DOW on him and captured a few cities, he would capitulate. The only downside is that my other friends might hate me for that + I wanna keep my rival Gilga is a war.

That does look like a tough situation. The Incans and Romans look to be good buddies going by the Foreign Advisor screenshot so you would probably have to fight both of them if you attack Huayna. A horde of praetorians coming down on your depleted troops sounds like a scary proposition and Justinian would probably dogpile you too for good measure. Your territory has nicely boxed Huayna and Caesar in, the Incans might attack later but a defensive war looks easier than an offensive one in this case. I say defeat Bismark to increase your land and cities and then turtle up and rebuild your economy while waiting to defend the Incan onslaught should it come.
