I bring the treaty of 1507 to your attention. In which a treaty was signed with the Aztecs. Not the Portuguese. Do not use this as an excuse to grab Spanish lands which we know you have coveted for many years. The only other treaty we are party to involved containing the Dutch aggression.

We are simply claiming the land that our explorers claimed for Spain many years age. The Portuguese ripped down the Spanish flag to build their huts.

We have killed the Portuguese longbow and withdrawn our troops.

We would like nothing better than a peaceful life but will not abide other nations claiming Spanish land.

I think Eclipse was refering to the other treaty where the European nations aggreed not to lead war against each other in the European homelands, only over in the colonies. By capturing a worker near Lisbon you have violated that aggreement.

In any case, the Aztec people is still enjoying a period of peaceful prosperation and are praying that it will last for years to come.

BTW: I noticed that meanwhile both Mayas and Incas have converted to Catholic Monarchy... Who sold them Theology??

there is no agreement (or not with all nations)... just reaction to your attack

France have good relationship with Portugal , attacking them did not please the king of france.

In other way, i can't stand that explorers declare that a land is owned by the one who discover it (and it's hard to proove !)
So the only fair way to own teeritory is to settle down, as Portugal have done.

You can't justify this attack like that... and no more because of salpeter.
If you really wanted salpeter, you would better had to ask me to sell you one ressource


For the possibility of treaty, sending back a worker to Portugal is not enough i think .

Dear Queen of Spain I will admit my error. The Aztec Cheif is correct, it is the treaty in which we agreed to not wage war amongst ourselves here in our Homelands.

I care not for these petty skirmishes over New World claimed land in fact I have the same idealism except I secure the area I claim with England's finest.

I join this alliance today because you clearly broke that treaty when you became aggresive in the Lisbon region.

Now because these nations will be attacking your where you started this fight (in Europe) I have no choice but to get an equal share of land I never wanted.

I can but will not propose an admiral solution to this, my earlier misscall on a treaty added a log on a fire. I can only say that I believe this can be mended but if it can not I will arrive as I stated, and get my equal share

LoL i was telling somebody just recently this was the best scenario of the originals. it was very smart to crowd everyone together and send everyone out to find new areas to fight over. It reminds me of when I was very young I had an old car I used to drive around real fast, smoke the tires and all I needed to do was put a bit of oil in the engine everyday, I thouhjt it was worth all the fun. No one ever told me that I also needed to replace the oil filter even if it always had food oil in it. If that made no sense to you, consider one of the objectives here, thats is to take treasures found in the New World back to your homeland. those treasures is my oil filter(have you seen one yet?), and your expansions are like driving that car fast without knowing all the details.

That's how I see it - unless you've settled, the land is unclaimed. How do you prove rights to claimed land otherwise?

Yes, indeed. This is already the third PBEM in which Eclipse and me both play. muzbang is also in Hinge of Fate (kicking my a** badly ), Hawklord is also in Rise of the Daimyo, and Eclipse and Hawklord know each other from at least 3 other PBEMs as well.

So we know each other a bit. But still the game is much harder to predict than with the AI... I try to play in a different style every game.
