Age Of Empires II

i like ti to sadl yi've never playe dit online as my router wont let me but i watch lotsa replays and i practice against my little bro (he usuallly ends of crying and yellling that he'll never play it with me again because i use "cheat weapons" like trebuches and pikemen)

What happened to the spelling in the first sentence? Trebuchets are an important part of the game and by the imperial age, if you don't have them then you should have cannons...

Trebuchets are much better than cannons. In regular AOE2, you'd have to research two extra techs (chemistry and bombard cannons) to get cannons. Trebuchets are there automatically in the Imperial Age. In addition, trebs are much harder to kill, cost less, do more damage, shoot further, make great archer killers and cannont hurt your own and allies' units. Plus, they are also demoralizing to the enemy if you got about 20 of them and they make great paladin lures when you have trebs protected by pikemen and throwing axemen or hand cannoneers. :D Since I generally play deathmatch and most people play no siege games (no Siege Workshops allowed), trebs in this case become the only sensible way to destroy castles and cannon towers.

I've got Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which is the same game as AOK, but then all the units are sw make overs. So, monks are jedi's and so on. But now there are also air units, changes the game a lot.

Oh yeah, the music is much better too.

And the villagers should be more easy to identificate: they seem like troops to me and Imistake too many times... :(

And then what? You kill them?
Well, most units look better in AOK.

Ummm you can use villagers as troops anyway... :)

When I suggested cannons, I just meant they were an alternative and they are useful if the enemy has a large amount of towers...

Even for towers trebs work better.

I said towerS so if there were lots of towers it would make sense to use cannons that can move quickly between them. Also there is a suprise element as a treb could easily be reveiled whilst it was bei9ng built and when it was ready to fire the enemy cavalry could have reached it.

Dell trebs destroy everything twice as fast...maybe even faster. If you are trying to destroy multiple towers have the trebs unpack at a location where it can target multiple towers. If you are worried about enemy cavalry keep pikemen in front of the trebs and some ranged units behind. Also the location of the trebs aren't revealed when they are unpackING, only when they are attacking.

Look in about 100 mp games I've never ever built a cannon and only ever build trebs. I was just trying to give some examples where they might be useful...

One last point though. To build trebs you need a castle but you only need a siege workshop for cannons...

Canons are just usefull to destroy trebs when horses and canon galleons are not an option. Period.
Too expensive, low attack, low HPs,...

Trebs can also attack cannons and trebs have more range and will kill a cannon in one hit.

Has anyone done the galley trick when attacking a cannon galleon or a catapult etc where you move fire move fire etc. Its very difficult to do with a large amount of troops but it does make it easier to kill strong units.

Yes I have done it before but it doesn't always work well in multiplayer because there is always some lag that delays my commands. I also use the same tactics to avoid attacks (i.e. when someone is attacking my units with a treb).
