Sons of the Malcador : The cults of the Xa'nath
The Sons of Malcador are of the three factions of the Order of the Cowl. Historically, the Malcii have been looked at with much distrust, by the two older members of the Cowl, especially because of their much suspicious practices, some of which included sacrifices, including humans.
The Malcii, have been under the rule of the family Malcador, that is passed down from generation to generation, from their stronghold at Xa'nath, the province of Traevit; A castle so imposing, that it can be viewed from beyond the borders of the Traevit, locally known as "the Bulwark".
To any builder, the Bulwark is a piece of art, with the carefully planned features to prevent any unfriendly units to ever get access to the fort as well as to provide all the earthly needs and wants. Inside the fort is a well developed town, that could easily host a thousand men for several moons.
Others however, called it the Pit of Malcador, considering the number of men that have died tried to siege the behemoth and the atrocities, that supposedly happened inside it. Based out of this stronghold, the Malcii used to raid the villagers of the Brotherhood, just to capture slaves for themselves. The Brotherhood did try to reach a peace process, only to receive the severed head of the diplomat. This arrogance of the Malcii, proved to be their downfall.
Senior Sergeant Magnus Vorrel, enraged at the loss of his elder brother, had personally lead the army to end the fiends of Malcii. Even Brother Ulfric, the peace loving monk knew that the "Fel-handed" Vorrel would not listen to reason.
How many men were lost ? The count had stopped long before the siege finally ended, the Pit of Malcador, succumbing to disease and starvation. Such an event was unthinkable, for the Malcii, for the Behemoth had never fallen. The then King, Gintar Malcador, falling to Vorrel.
Magnus wanted a "cleansing", in which his men excelled at, however, Ulfric managed to convince Magnus that with the fall of the king, the common men should not have to suffer for the mis-deeds. Another factor that prevented the purge of Xanath was the fact that the Malcii worshipped the same gods as the BrotherHood did, and Ulfric wouldnt have a fellow brother come under the hammers.
Yet over the centuries, the Malcadors have always had a deep seated hatred for Magnus Vorrel. To have to sit in the same room as the beast, the Fel handed Vorrel, was ignomious. The times ahead would be dire indeed if Magnus ever managed to be in charge of BrotherHood of the Cowl, after Ulfric the Pious.
The Malcadors, to be on the diplomatic good books even considered supporting the warmonger, in the Halls of the Elders. As long as Ulfric was in charge of the Brotherhood, there would be peace and tranquility. But would the Brotherhood of the Cowl transform into an army of fanatic beasts under the command of Magnus remains to be seen.
