Ages' Beginnings - An Arrow/Immaculate Reboot

From Aelrich
To Arthendal

Dear King Deargwin II,

Faced with dwindling manpower and factions back home, our King formerly withdraws his political campaign and will withdraw all complaints against the nations of Arthendal, Tareen, and Namidas.

However, we do not see how we have been so utterly defeated that a swearing of fealty and regular tribute would be necessary.

We are willing to negotiate a one time payment of 12 gold from paid to Arthendal, negotiable in the diplomatic table, for a peace treaty between us six nations: Tareen, Aelrich, Kshlah, Treiscos, Namidas, and Arthendal.

To: Aelrich
From: Arthendhal

Although it is manifestly clear that should we will it, your ruin would come to pass., and we have said that should you refuse us we would bring about your destruction For you see clearly that against us you cannot stand such is the power granted to us by the gods. We are not an unmerciful King, nor one that lusts for blood, we are not averse to granting unto your realm our clemency. Yet terms agreed too must acknowledge your defeat, for we are not so blind as to think that a trifling one time payment will rectify the damage done by your intransigent hubris.

Hence we are prepared to accept peace with Aelrich if it renders unto Arthendhal a tribute of 12 gold in addition to Aelrich making a payment of reparations over the next three years accounting to the same amount to Tareen that the damage wrought by your hands may be to some degree rectified. Likewise Aelrich must renounce all claims to the lands belonging too Tareen, Arthendhal and Namidas and renounce all complaints directed towards them, pledging perpetual peace with its neighbours alongside its allies Kislah and Treiscos. Furthermore as a token of submission in lieu of fealty to us, we require that Aelrich grant us the secret of sailing upon open water (magnetic compass).

These terms are generous, and fulfil likewise the terms demanded by our ally Namidas. We advise that you take them if your house wishes to remain mastery of Aelrich. For as we have said and as you have acknowledged no foe can stand against the armies of Arthendhal and the might of the old gods, and there are others who may be more inclined to accept peace with us on more fitting terms should you persist in making yourself and your people an enemy of ours.

King Deargwin II.

ooc: Summary of terms

1) pay Arthendhal apology tribute of the sum of 12 gold
2) pay Tareen reparations to the sum of 12 gold over three turns (4 gold per turn)
3) renounce claims and complaints against Namidas, Tareen and Arthendhal, and pledge perpetual peace to said nations
4) gift Arthendhal the secret of the magnetic compass, as a token of submission in lieu of fealty.

PS: Fear our legions :mwaha:

From Aelrich

Perpetual peace is pure nonsense-such a peace treaty would be broken by any successive generation who would deem it some old piece of paper from a bygone era. Nay, better to have a clear peace term. 15 years of peace terms, negotiable to be lengthened at the end of the term, is more than fair.

Also....err.... secret of sailing on open water? You mean our compasses? I mean, we can give you a few compass but err...

We are not sure what you are talking about. (OOC: IC wise your demands make no sense to us. The secret to our ability to sail on open waters is not just the compass but the training, mathematical knowledge, and navigational charts required to use them. There is no 'secret' because it's a myriad different thing, not necessarily under the command of our nation to just 'give away.').

We would also like to make one thing clear. We are not surrendering to Tareen-we are surrendering to Arthendal, which we acknowledge as the war leader. As such, we refuse to pay the reparation cost to Tareen. Nevertheless, we think we understand what you are talking about and will agree to draft a much fairer peace treaty.

12 gold of tribute to Arthendal, one time payment.
16 years of Guarented Peace Treaty, sworn to whatever god or gods or spirits or demons or names or families or kings that you name between both sides of the conflict
2 EP of gold tribute continuously paid to Arthendal over 4 year period.
And some compasses to Arthendal.

Between Tareen, Arthendal, Aelrich, Kshlah, Namidas, and Treicos, you mean.

If Kshlah and Treicos withdraw their forces upon the peace terms we have negotiated, than peace they will have.

I believe that it is still prudent to put that in the official treaty.

Us three nations will, of course, withdraw from the lands of Artendal, Namidas, and Tareen. In exchange, you will give us peace to all three of us nations. Is that agreeable?

In addition to the aforementioned terms of...

a) 12 gold in immediate tribute to Arthendhal from Aelrich
b) 8 gold paid over four years in regular tribute from Aelrich to Arthendhal
c) 16 years peace treaty
d) the granting of magnetic compasses to Arthendhal from Aelrich
e) The withdrawal of all forces and renunciation of all claims to land pertaining to Arthendhal, Tareen and Namidas

We can agree to peace with Aelrich and its allied nations mentioned.

For long the Brotherhood of the Cowl has been content in maintaining peace and tranquil in our kingdom. Our peasants prospered, their fields full with hay, corn and barley. With the influx of villagers migrating from all over the country, the towns got rich as well. A look at the market would reveal the different wares that were for offer; and the exotic things that the wealthier population could afford - wines, cheese, venison, colored clothes and other decorations.

Our religious leaders had focused themselves on the more important things that needed to be accomplished : pleasing the True Lord, understanding the ways in which HE might give us an insight into his realms. The Brotherhood of the Cowl was actually regressive, with the leader absent from the public space, and hence from the memory of the general populace, to pursue their own goals.

However, the period of the mighty calm got a crude awakening when our Brothers of the Faith decided to battle against one other. What the mighty kingdoms do for the renown and glory of the Kings is beyond the control of the peasant folk were there to fight and die.
Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die.....

And so our very own brother fought among each other, while the leaders say in their horses, the peasants suffered. Thankfully, the war was short. It seems the greatness Deargwin the Zealous, our founding father, the one of the most respected members of the Order of the Cowl, has passed onto his young one as well. The war ended shortly, with much lesser bloodshed and loss of life than it could have been. The next decade and half would see no more wars, among the brothers of the same faith.

However, the Order of the Cowl itself was ambushed by the infidels from the South, the lowlifes lead by their King Wels IV. The fight at the narrow pass on the hills, locally known as the Sitka Spruce, proved that, while we are a peaceful nation, doesn't necessarily mean we are weak. There was much argument, especially from Grand Master Magnus Vorel, who wanted vengeance.
Ulfric, the Pious, who outranked Magnus, in the hierarchical order would not listen to his arguments. "Magnus, the entire brotherhood is angry at the cowardly attacks of the Ciadians. However, do not forget we are a religious order, and as long as I am alive, our armies would be there to guard our borders. The world has seen enough bloodshed already. Why do you want to steal someone's father, husband or son ? Our troops would not cross the Sitka Spruce, and that is final."

Declaration of King Donan IV of Tareen

House Uradel, even in defeat your inflated ego can be perceived, but after so much war and destruction we do not have the slightest desire to extend this conflict. We do not require a payment of compensation, although a man of honor would have offered without thinking twice.

About honorable men, I would like to thank the illustrious King II Deargwin for his invaluable help, which undoubtedly brought an end to an unjust war, bringing peace to the whole region of the isthmus. You have our gratitude.

Regarding the peace agreement suggested by Arthendhal, we agree.

We celebrate peace in your lands! Your sacrifices have brought great honor to your kingdom. However, we cannot help but notice that, despite the great victory you have wrought, the United Republics of Tridia were not compensated in any way during the war, certainly not with the land you promised us when you brought us into the war.

Because of this, we are afraid we either must have some form of payment as per the original contract or you, unfortunately, will not be able to take advantage of the considerable benefits of the United Republican banking and trading system. Such an embargo would be crippling, most likely.

Thank you!

We rejoice in the peace between our people, and feel nothing but sorrow at the bloodshed and violence which has marred the relationship of a people who should be nothing but friends. As such, as a gift to tie us together, I offer you and the people of your lands preferential treatment by the Orchid Bank.

(OOC: Forgot to reply to this)

House Treicos and its vassals recognize this peace treaty and will withdrawal our troops.

Sons of the Malcador : The cults of the Xa'nath

The Sons of Malcador are of the three factions of the Order of the Cowl. Historically, the Malcii have been looked at with much distrust, by the two older members of the Cowl, especially because of their much suspicious practices, some of which included sacrifices, including humans.

The Malcii, have been under the rule of the family Malcador, that is passed down from generation to generation, from their stronghold at Xa'nath, the province of Traevit; A castle so imposing, that it can be viewed from beyond the borders of the Traevit, locally known as "the Bulwark".

To any builder, the Bulwark is a piece of art, with the carefully planned features to prevent any unfriendly units to ever get access to the fort as well as to provide all the earthly needs and wants. Inside the fort is a well developed town, that could easily host a thousand men for several moons.

Others however, called it the Pit of Malcador, considering the number of men that have died tried to siege the behemoth and the atrocities, that supposedly happened inside it. Based out of this stronghold, the Malcii used to raid the villagers of the Brotherhood, just to capture slaves for themselves. The Brotherhood did try to reach a peace process, only to receive the severed head of the diplomat. This arrogance of the Malcii, proved to be their downfall.

Senior Sergeant Magnus Vorrel, enraged at the loss of his elder brother, had personally lead the army to end the fiends of Malcii. Even Brother Ulfric, the peace loving monk knew that the "Fel-handed" Vorrel would not listen to reason.

How many men were lost ? The count had stopped long before the siege finally ended, the Pit of Malcador, succumbing to disease and starvation. Such an event was unthinkable, for the Malcii, for the Behemoth had never fallen. The then King, Gintar Malcador, falling to Vorrel.

Magnus wanted a "cleansing", in which his men excelled at, however, Ulfric managed to convince Magnus that with the fall of the king, the common men should not have to suffer for the mis-deeds. Another factor that prevented the purge of Xanath was the fact that the Malcii worshipped the same gods as the BrotherHood did, and Ulfric wouldnt have a fellow brother come under the hammers.

Yet over the centuries, the Malcadors have always had a deep seated hatred for Magnus Vorrel. To have to sit in the same room as the beast, the Fel handed Vorrel, was ignomious. The times ahead would be dire indeed if Magnus ever managed to be in charge of BrotherHood of the Cowl, after Ulfric the Pious.

The Malcadors, to be on the diplomatic good books even considered supporting the warmonger, in the Halls of the Elders. As long as Ulfric was in charge of the Brotherhood, there would be peace and tranquility. But would the Brotherhood of the Cowl transform into an army of fanatic beasts under the command of Magnus remains to be seen.
