Is it just me or does the AI just...not go for the unlockable wonders? I've seen the Pyramids still be available at T120, Djenne's mosque at 150, the Hanging Gardens at 140...in particular the Hanging Gardens surprise me given how often that thing is beelined for in Vanilla. Non-ideology tied wonders however seem to go a lot faster. In particular the Parthenon seems to be an AI beeline target.

Depends who you're playing. Load up a game with Morocco, England and Korea, they'll grab Wonders they don't even need (including all the ones you mentioned). Morocco built the Grand Mosque in my game despite not even having a religion!

AI goes hard after Hanging Gardens and Forbidden Palace in every game I play. The others, not so much; I've had Big Ben at turn 230 once, which is ridiculous (I play on Deity).

Since they are based upon social Policy trees being open, they are more likely (even on Deity) to be available - at least for a time.

If there's an SP tree that the AIs haven't opened yet, then it's sometimes worth just tossing 1 SP into it to grab a nice wonder.

I do see Big Ben being ignored a lot though. Not many Commerce focused civs in the game.

The problem is you can never 100% know if an AI has opened the SP tree. Diplo screen doesn't show the openers, only the 5 actual policies.

The Pyramids seem to pop up pretty late frequently - I was well into renaissance before someone built them. This happened occasionally with G&K as well, though.

In my games its pretty much the opposite, policy-based wonders are built ridiculously fast and I'm left with stuff like the colossus.

Overall wonder-building has gotten a lot harder imo, probably because more AIs are going tall instead of warmongering.

The AI isn't like the human; he's not going to just open the policy but will select a subpolicy out of it.

And there's good reason that Commerce isn't opened as much in BNW: Unless you're on a Pangaea map; Exploration is much better for making money as it has the sub policy for extra gold from sea routes while Commerce only has the extra gold from land routes.

Yes they will, and they may be in the process of going deeper but simply haven't gotten the culture for their next policy yet. I just wasted my SP on Patronage since I thought no AI had access to the Forbidden Palace, only to see India grab the wonder after a few turns.

I don't understand why it doesn't show openers there, it would be useful to know.
