AI cheats big time

Hi,

Since the last patch I had the opinion that AI cheats. And I am not referring to high money or happiness but on strategic resources. More nukes that the total amount of uranium, (more than triple) more oil and aluminium units but I was thinking is the policies and any bonuses.

However on the current game, Washington has no iron at the start. I can see him on the map too.
He declares war on me, and almost on every other civ.

When Iron comes on the map, I can see all the resources (pangea) since I have explored the whole map.

20 turns later, he find a city next to me, with Iron deposit (2). No mine on it, because hadn't managed to expand the borders.

When he finds the city, same turn (no iron mine built yet) 6 swordsmen appeared. Just from thin air since I had all his cities in clear view (no fog).

Checking all other civs, none had approached an iron yet and still their armies were consisting of barbarians. So none made an agreement with him.

What the heck? We said to make AI harder in tactics, give huge money & happiness and production bonuses. But this? Game is going to be put on hold, until such clear cheating is being sorted. It's a shame.

Heading back to CIV 4 I think.

Also found few bugs with where the position of units are (AI) and where the units actually are (invisible or some times shows only the unit icon). Which makes AI archers shooting 3-4 hex away against other AI. But is not for this post. Is submitted to Firaxis.

City states?

Perhaps he founded a city ON iron?

or got the social policy that doubles the amount strategic resources...
on the other hand i would rather them cheat than suck :D

@pyccos: he said washington does not own a mine where iron is present.

@Greatsword: he said no other civ has iron available.

A save would be good.

Everyone knows that AI always plays on chieftain level, which is bad enough. IF it turns out that it also cheats with resources it's really getting ridiculous. But - a save or it didn't happen.

It is easy to miss that an AI can have contacts with a civ not yet met by a player. I have also seen that an AI sometimes build a city miles away (tiles away) from his core just because of a resource. So perhaps the the AI has a city that is not yet visible by the player.
If you have reach the "iron age", I hardly believe that you have the entire world discovered and also covered with units to void FoW (otherwise you will not see any changes that happens there).
These things could be easily checked if a save was available. If this bug is true then it is important to report it, if its not then, well I have also shouted at my computer "oh, your cheating son of a ..." when certain things isn't going my way.

There is no cheat here... America is the only God blessed civilization! What you saw was an act of God! DIVINE INTERVENTION!! WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?! HA HA!! Our god-blessed army will pound to dust, burn to ashes and rip to shreds your barbarian encampment you call civilization! Now cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war you infidel scum!!

lol I've seen that bug where ranged units fire like 10 hexes. I think it looks awesome  I think it's just a graphics glitch so I don't get my knickers in a twist about it.

Also regarding the iron thing, post a save or it didn't happen. Maybe he founded a city on an iron resource. You are just another "I'm going back to Civ4" whiner at the moment and it's getting really old.

If you have read all my posts you will see I support CIV 5. So I am not a whiner.

Can someone tell me how do I check how he got the iron by using the saved game?

The only 2 cities that he could have built on top of iron (before I see it) was NY and DC.
If that's the case then fine. (Didn't thought about it tbh).

Yeah sorry my words came off a bit harsh. Can't you turn on the resource icons and they should display an iron bubble above the city if it was founded on iron. If not a workaround could be to kill a swordsman then check to see if Washington has iron in his resource list on trades. You would have to make peace for this though.

Please post your save game so that we can try to discover the issue.

Now when I played, I saw the Chinese fired 4 tiles with their xbows. He fired at the Danes so I don't know if it was real fire or just graphic. I haven't seen it before. He fired from a city (FoW) over my unit and to a danish polearm (also FoW). Hmm.
