I'd like to know why the AI Amurite's aren't using Firebow units who've got Fire II promotions properly. With the change that allowed units to cast a spell and attack in the same turn, I would think Firebow units with an enemy in range would cast thier fireball spell automatically and use the it against the enemy units/wall, but they don't...ever.
By not using their Fireball spell, they are just a crippled LongBow unit. It would be more just for AI Amurite's to have Longbowmen, than to not be able to use thier Firebowmen.

Thanks

Perhaps if that's to hard to code let any unit with fire 2 cast their spell (or others as applicable..) at the beginning of turn. Regardless of enemies near... That should work out fine (fireballs should attack if they possess the right Unit-AI...) and the AI seems to cope rather well with unit-upkeep...

Well, the AI doesn't really even use fireballs with mages either. At least I've never seen one.

I think that the team does it that way because it would take to long to try and code magic into the AI, so they leave it out until they've pretty much finished the mod.

I've seen Sheaim mages spam my stacks with fireball, no idea why firebows would refuse to do it.

Maybe it's cuz the AI is jus really stupid?

Wasn't there, at one time, something that forced the AI to cast a spell if they could cast one? Was that changed or is it only coded for mage units?

I found the problem. The ai was only using fireballs to attack cities. It was actually summoning the fireballs correctly, it just never attacked with them. I made the change and tested it and it works much better now (and it should make the AI more aggressive with all summons).

Hmm...AI more aggressive with summons? Sounds scary. Better watch out, man.

Edit: Thanks for the fix, man.
