The bug

I've looked in the WB and cannot see a reason why these two AI workers are building a road here. They were building a road in a diagonal (north east) direction and then shifted north west. There's nothing up there at all.

I have a save game and a screenshot.

Trigger

No trigger, just requires observation.

edit: I figured it out, it's creating a very, very long road in order to connect its other cities. I'll leave it to the AI developer as to whether this is actually practical in this particular situation. It's probably not a bug though.

Theyre commisioned by an alaskan senator?

lol. even we (in germany) heard about these alaskan senators. one possible explanation would be that there was once a town that got razed.

The AI uses a scoring function to choose most actions. When the score for connecting a city is higher than any other improvement available, a worker will be assigned to build a road to that city.

If there is nothing up there, then most likely it is a defunct city that was destroyed (or captured). I have found roads like that on the frontier of AI civs that lost cities to barbarians.

No, read my edit: It's building a road right, right around to link up to its other cities (ie, Lyons, in the upper left). Now, although not a bug, I gotta wonder whether the AI could've found better things to do considering the cities connect via the coast, plus its safer.

I was playing a game when I noticed a automated worker was building a road to uncolonized areas to no where. I clicked the worker and the mapped line was going toward unexplored areas, all the way to the end of the scroll. It was definitely a bug.
