AK2a - WWII - Pacific -?

To clarify on mobilization:
In c3c, anything not flagged as MIL or a unit will be autoswitched during interturn. Only units with the 'Air Superiority', 'Defence', 'Offensive', 'Naval Superiority' flag (admittedly, dunno about Cruise Missiles and ICBM/TacNuke) receive the bonus. That rules out Artillery, Bombers, Transports, Workers/Settlers, Scouts.

Note it worked pretty different in ptw!

Time to start. I didn't count Dec. 1941 as a turn. It is now May 1942 and we still have all our cities. :)

I did not track all kills. This turnlog would have been too long.

To summarize:

In December 1941, the Alliance was cemented with several diplomatic manuevers. The US gave us spices and 115g for silks. Churchill gave us 800g, 8gpt for silks. The Dutch gave us 519g for silks and coal.

In this scenario we will need one surplus of anything we are going to trade because Japanes bombing takes out our resources every turn and we need to re-road. MM is easy at this time. We're mobilized and doing no research. part rush what you need. Ningsia is a 2 turn worker factory, leave it alone and have fun with the rest of the cities. Anything you build in Nanning will be bombed away in 1-2 turns.

I took a new approach and sent most of the spare infantry into northern china to pillage. 1st, I pillaged the invasion routes, then I isolated the cities. I used artillery to redline intruders and then picked them off.

Tanks are need for counter attack mobility because of our crappy rail/road network.

The airforce needs built up. We need flak. I haven't seen the army.

Whoever grabs it first is up next and will be for the remainder of the game. Just don't play two sets in a row. Five turns each from here on out. Anyone who has previously posted in this thread is welcome to take a turn. Good hunting. (Insert austrian voice) I'll be back...

Sorry all, RL stuff and being up in other SGs (wanted to finish those first to see if Cuivienen would be able to play this, apparently not) kind of held up my turns, but I finished them.

1
Trade 710 gold and 17 gpt to the Netherlands for Amphibious Warfare.(there was a confusion about to and from in another thread so I'll make it clear.) It was the cheapest deal so I chose them, we need Marines anyway.
2
Cash rush an MG Battalion because some Japanese Marines are picking on Taiyuan.
3
Barbs pillage our gems. Next turn some cities riot (since it's IBT I can't scroll to fix it.)
4
MM cities and they stop rioting next turn.
5
Avoid messing around with Ningsia too much. I MMed it to produce a worker every turn. Also building Bombers and Combat Engineers, we need to begin creating a military. Most frontline cities have great defense with MG Battalions and Infantry, and it's hard to whack Japanese cities with Infantry. Also building some Tanks. Once we have control over nearby Japanese cities a naval strike against a little island they have sounds fun with Marines. But not now, we need to focus on getting nearby cities (and we're almost landlocked.)

Nice job viper. To reiterate, if you have previously posted in this thread, grab it. I'm too lazy to do a roster in this short a game. I was thinking of cutting the Japanese in half at Hong Kong, but little islands sound like fun.

I'll post a roster then.
Admiral Kutzov
Cuivienen (skipped I assume, no response and had CD troubles earlier.)
viper275- Just played
Keiji- Up
Bede- On deck, hasn't posted here yet, but romeothemonk says he's in.

I suggest attacking Hong Kong first, along with other major coastal cities right next to us. I almost grabbed a couple but barely lost the attacks. This is why there are lots of build orders for Combat Engineers and Bombers. Besides the fact that they look cool when they attack, Combat Engineers have great attack strength. I'm also thinking about a few MG Battalions to go with them, I think it would be a good combined arms (MG Battalions escort and defend cities since they have 9 defense, Combat Engineers have 11 attack to attack cities, Bombers in the back to knock down major defense.) Light Tanks are nice, but at the moment I don't think speed is a priority. Perhaps that'll change when we get Medium Tanks, but not now.

thought about the bombers, but the zeros appear to breed like bunnies. Thus the tanks and artillery.

Well I see that according to the roster I'm up. Good to see that Bede is up after me, that way he can repair any damage I may have caused :).

Got it.

Pre-flight check:
Change build orders around to create an assault consisting of engineers, artilery and MG's. Set luxury to 10 percent so we can use all laborers in Chunking and Hanchow (Chunking was on the verge of rioting again.)

Nov 1942 AD (1)
The first units of our assault force roll of the bench.
Optimize Sian and Chunking for 2 and 3 turn engineer building.

Dec 1942 AD (2)
Japanese further encroach on our territory, I hurry a light tank and an engineer to repel them next turn. Send an engineer to defend Chunking before it's taken.

IBT
Forgot to check for unhappiness seeing as how 3 cities start rioting.

Jan 1943 AD (3)
Strange, as I look at the rioting they no longer appear to be in an unhappy condition.

IBT
Japanese bomber redline an MG but it still manages to defend against two Japanese engineers :).

Feb 1943 AD (4)
Nothing much.

Mar 1943 AD (5)
Still nothing much...

Those darn Japanese just keep coming. Hopefully we'll be able to take the fight to them reasonably soon. We have 4 Combat engineer in the field and at least five of them coming in the next five turns.

Is Bede in or not? I thought so because of this:
romeothemonk said:
Acutally I checked with Bede, and he is in.
Now I'm not sure.... not trying to pressure him into joining, though. Since it's been over a week since we've heard from Cuivienen, if Bede isn't in, it's down to 3 players. Should we post in the SG Registry thread with this?

Sorry guys. I was unclear. I meant that Bede was in for a higher level challenge. Then when I decided to go with the mirror game, he went with me. I apologize for any confusion. By the way you can check out the Sid game we are running here. I know it says Deity, but it really is at Sid.
Other Game
There are/were many strategic differences in game play.

It's okay, I understand now.
@Admiral: Should we post in the SG Registry thread to get more members?

RL is pressing right now, need a delay or skip. I should be able to get this tomorrow or Saturday.

@ viper - if I'm not imposing, please go find a fourth. Thanks.

Would be happy to get more people. RL is getting more busy here too. I can play this tonight if you want, but I have no problem with waiting and letting you go later. Posted in the SG Registry thread so I think we should get somebody.

No takers on this yet, so I played.

Pre-flight: spent money hand over fist. Rushed various units in 6 of our 10 cities. got Adv fight from US for 100gpt + 209 g. Got better armor from the Netherlands (better than from the mether regions) for 23gpt + 459h + iron.

JAPAN DOESN'T SEEM TO BOMB RESOURCES UNLESS WE HAVE UNITS ON THEM. hint, hint.

No turn log because my turns consisted of killing enemies as they attempt to sneak past to our undefended rear area cities. Keep the planes based where they are and use them to bomb inside our territory. It appears we have enuff forces to contain attacks. Keep plinking with current forces, establish a SoD in the rear area and use that to attack into Northern China. Rush everything when there's enough cash. No use in saving it for trades - we have all the tech we'll ever need. Suggest we build nothing but FB and medium tanks from here on out (except in Nanning) Nanning builds nothing but arty and uses that to plink away at japanese roads. We have 53% of area and 66 of pop. need 13% more territory.

Got it. Will play soon.

I'm having lots of fun with this scenario. We'll have to try USA sometime, and perhaps Japan (Sid?) None of this now, though (too much going for me right now anyway.)

I think we're getting close to Japan on victory points from destroying all their units in our territory. Options seem very open.
Preturn-Moved a few things
1
Kill a few Japanese units in our territory. Scared away a stack of guerillas.
2
MMed Lanchow so that excess food is converted into lots of shields. Going to with Hankow. We need lots of units to defend ourselves from Japan, so micromanaging for maximum shields sounds like a good idea for more units.
3
MMing...
4
PRNG is very strange, lost a full health point elite combat engineer to an unfortified guerilla. Later I destroy one in a city without losing any health points. Nice little SoD at Nanking. Japan captures a couple workers. They will pay in February though (it's January this turn.)
5
Nanking captured. Killed some Japanese tanks. Hankow is getting there in micromanagement, Keiji can take care of that. Just try to get as many shields as possible and get about 24 fpt (more is okay if there's nothing else to improve sields.)

Got it. Don't know when I'll be able to play though, I'm still up in Monarch Training 2 and I don't want to rush it.

@Viper - why do you say 24 spt? Medium tanks require 130 shields, so 26 would be better.
