Narz
keeping it real
Is a standup guy!
He's the best Under 21 (he's 19) player in the US and is a GM elect (will become a GM in October, IIRC).
He did a simil at the club I joined in New Jersey (All the King's Men) and analyzed a few of the games therein afterwards (including mine
). The next day was a big tourney which he entered (and helped some of the guys analyze between rounds even though he probably would have rather been left alone to study his Russian Karpov Endgame book).
On Sunday I figure he would have left to go back to New York but he suprised me but staying on 'till mid-afternoon & played a bunch of blitz games (giving 5 to 1 time odds & crushing all comers, including six or seven games with me) with club members. He clearly wasn't getting anything out of it personally (learningwise) but it gave great enjoyment to club members & for this (and the sense of camaraderie) he engaged us.
Here's our simil game he analyzed with me. Despite my poor opening play I managed to be the 3rd to last guy left standing!
(the other two were a 1950 and an expert)
Here is a YouTube video of him analyzing our game!
The whole game is not shown because he stopped analyzing where I was basically busted, I managed to play on for about 25-30 more moves after this though before finally resigning. He didn't mind & gave us the advice to "not resign unless you think your position is so bad that you could beat me in it if we switched sides, if that's not the case you should play on so you can see my technique" (that could sound cocky but he said it very matter of factly & I believe it's good advice)
