Aliens as a different faction

It would be great if aliens is a unified civ in BE, not just a bunch of random units scattered throughout the map. The aliens start out as a low-consciousness life form that react to threats the way animals do. But as they interact with humans, their consciousness begin to expand. As a result, they start to develop intelligence, and evolve new capabilities which can either make them a threat to us human players or a worthy ally partner. Diplomatic interaction with aliens can become possible. Alien nests would become their cities. We can trade with them, ally with them against other factions, or go to war with them. We can even play as the alien faction.

For aliens, the victory conditions would be to:
1. Evolve their consciousness into one that is equal to that of the humans with fully developed cognitive and intellectual capabilities
2. Subjugate and force all human players to adopt their development based on the harmony path. After all, this is alien's native planets, so they have an interest to preserve the ecological integrity of their home planets instead of letting the humans do whatever they desire.

I agree that aliens should be made into a separate major faction although I don't think that alien's victory conditions should be that much different from human factions.

Just make sure that there is a proper storyline and lots of alien-specific quests, improvements, units, etc to make things much more interesting.

Another interesting idea would be to have robots as another separate major faction :)

Yeah, and maybe we can have purity as a playable faction too!

Oh, wait.

A robotic civ would defeat the point of having supremacy as an option, and an alien civ doesn't make a lot of sense, especially if it's playable.
