I absolutely can not play with this feature turned off. I need to wait at every turn to make sure I did what I wanted to do. What about you guys?

Sure, why wouldn't you have this option turned on? It's crazy not to unless you're rushing a game.

Maybe some people dislike the slowness of the game if the option is turned on. They might want a quick game...

My gameplay would go down badly, I proberly wouldn't be able to win cheiftain if it was turned off. Most of my important diplomacy/ unit moves/ and general planning is left until the end of the turn.

I think I would have to play until the end of the game too, the end of a turn is the only opportunity to flee from civ - even with it it's hard enough to not play '1 more turn'.

Hmmm... maybe they should just try SID level...those games are usually pretty quick... oh... wait... you mean a quick game you can WIN, right??!?! :crazyeye:

I do the same; that is why having the option turned on is just not a option. :p So far, the poll shows a overwhelming lead for the On choice. There has to be someone who plays with the option off. Whoever that person is, please make sure to post your reason why.

I'll bet you my WM, Iron, coal, saltpeter, and 1gpt that it's because they didn't know the option was there. :devil2:

I leave it off. I must admit, i have never finished a turn when i haven't wanted to. However, it does seem reasonable to have it 'on', so i may put the option on. The turn when it ends before i want it to, i will change for definite!

I don't like having something happen before I have a chance to stop it. Therefore, on. I used to play with it off because I didn't know that the option existed.

I found my game to improve game a lot, because it allow you to have an overview of the map and allow to inspect and mircomange before the turn is up. Most importantly, you can save your game AFTER all the moves are complete, and stop and errand GoTo commands, two big time savers.

And if you don't want to do that, you can always press ENTER or SPACEBAR. And if you are too lazy/impantent to do that, well, Civ is not the game for you.

Always leave it "on" -- even though I mistakenly voted for "off". As mentioned by others: I need to time to plan, examine the map, double check city production, MM, trade, etc.

Like in real chess game or shogi, we always wait at end of turn to think what action we're going to perform next only if our empire and AI get's bigger and figure at the right time at the right place to attack them if necessary.

As a matter of fact, I do turn OFF the always wait option... but only in the early phase of the game.
During the very beginning, you have not many things to think about at the same time, so why bother hitting <enter> every two seconds?
I have a good short and mid-term memory and I play fully concentrated. So I can usually avoid the "whoops! forgot to..." syndrome.
The only bad thing about turning it off is that, when your city pop goes beyond the max number of content citizens, the governor will make an entertainer between turns (during the upkeep phase) without giving you the possibility to raise luxuries. Therefore, you'll loose one citizen's work for one turn, and on harder levels this kind of thing is definitely worth micromanaging.
And anyway I turn the option ON again as soon as the game gets more complicated: especially when I meet other civs.

I am another of those who play with "off". It works like this:

1- When you are starting the game you scroll through the options and when you reach "Always wait at end of turn" you say: "whay on earth would I need to wait at every end of turn?" so you turn it off.

2- After 5 minutes of playing you start forgetting to do things in the corresponding turns and say: "I wished there was an option to wait at the end of every turn"... :wallbash:

Seriously, I have became used to playing with this option turned off, cannot say really why, but I only sometimes forget to do something in a turn. If I need to do something special, I wake some fortified unit and press the wait button on it until all other units finished their work. In the near future I might play with the option "on". Or might not... :crazyeye:

you can hit the triangle thng (near the civilopedia and the advisors) and click on 'preferences' to change it mid-game

PTW - It ic pretty common to see units that are "sleeping", even though they are not in sentry mode. If you did not wait then you could miss moving them for several turns.

On. In Civ3 Multiplayer it's off (don't know if you can turn it on) and it severly damages my gameplay (I like doing trades and stuff at the end of turns, also just a quick double-check to make sure I didn't mess up anything.)
