I like to play with it off. It forces me to do the advisor activities at the beginning of my turn. That way if diplomacy turns bad and war is declared, my troops have not moved.

Playing with it on is so much easier, because i have horrible memory, and i sumtimes hav to go to war cuz i forget to move a unit because im too busy trying to move all my active units.

I must always play with it on like you BrutalGod because it means that I can check the placement of my units before I declare war on someone so I know where all of my units are and see if part of my plan is flawed

Ha, I've played it since it came out, and if I ever knew this was a feature, I've forgotten it. So now I just make sure I get all the important stuff done while I have a unit with a move left.

But now that I know it's there, I'll turn it on. :)

Well, why not read their posts? They may have reasons other than absolute stupidity, don't you think? (I'm touchy at times).

...Or you could just do everything at the beginning of your turn anyway. Diplomacy won't turn bad, if you are half decent at it.

I would guess that keeping it on gives the game more of a 'real-time' feel....

With "absolute" being the key word? ;)

That seems to be a problem with Civ 3 - the defaults for important settings like this are the opposite of almost everyone thinks they should be.
