Am I playing version 2.42?

Many threads mention version 2.42. The copy I play was purchased late 1997, early 98, in the UK. Its title is "Sid Meier's Civilization II" The packaging does not indicate which version of the game I own. Can anyone clarify?

If you hit ctrl+o while playing the title bar of the pop-up window will tell you what version the game is.
