Amazon.co.uk: When Will We Recieve Civ IV?

Certain accounts mention that Civ IV is already in the UK, and we are just waiting for the official release. For those of us who have pre-ordered off Amazon UK, do you think we will receive the game by Friday? Or will it take all weekend to reach us? I hope not, because it is my birthday on Thursday, and I would love to receive the game on Friday as a belated (but amazing) birthday present!!!

When I told my girlfriend, she said she will probably have to dump me!!!

Also, there have been a lot of people complaining about issues with Civ IV in America. If they release patches to fix this, do you think these patches will work on the European editions of the game? Or will we have to wait even longer for patches? I hope not.

I've currently got mine on order from Play (only £17.99! or $31.91 including P&P). I'm hoping that they will post theirs in time for delivery on the release date, but I somehow doubt that they will work like that.

Play.com always try and get the game to you on or before the day of release. They operate from Jersey so they tend to dispatch it quite early (like Tuesday), although this will depend on whether they have been given any stock...

Amazon.co.uk are hit and miss - sometimes great and sometimes awful. I can't vouch for play.com but it seems to have a good reputation for delivery and is cheaper than amazon.co.uk. I'm a long-term amazon.co.uk customer but I've switched to play.com for Civ 4.

I just re-ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk as their price dropped to 19.99. I guess they were aware of superior competition from Play.com..

Anyway, they state estimated dispatch date as 2nd Nov so I'm sure we'll all be in Civ4 heaven by the weekend I might as well get the divorce papers drawn up now...

I followed your example and roeordered Civ from Amazon. Pity they don't just change the price for you isn't it? They are sneaky! Well, I saved more than £3 and should have it before the weekend now because I chose 1st class rather than FREE super saver delivery this time.

No one has replied to the second point in my post however, 'will European players need different patches to those used by American players?'

I'm with you all the way on the 1st-class delivery - well worth the extra cost I reckon.

Regarding the patch, I'm sure if the existing fix doesn't work they will put out a European version. But I stand to be corrected...

My arrival date from amazon is still displayed as 24th-25th October, I think it's pretty clear that isn't going to happen so i wish they'd update it, makes me think they've forgotten about it.
