America's flag is wrong!!!!

I think the star is fine, but it might have been a little better with a circle around the star, to make it look more like a simplified version of the symbol they had on WW2 fighter planes. A full fledged American flag would be nice, the US flag is unique and I think it looks really cool. But if they were to do that they might have to do the same for everyone else's flag, and some nation's flags look quite similar, with just one stripe being a different color and it would be difficult to tell them apart.

Why not crossed swords like you can see on American Civil war suit?

I think the problem doesn't really comes from the star but from the blue used. a deeper blue would have been better, but there is French who get it p)

Easily confused with Russian Federation, France, etc. R/W/B is a very common combo. US Army's Crossed Cannons might work well.

I know, but it's not used in the game. IIRC France is B/W/R and for Russia is goes top down Wite Blue and Red... Russia is easy to remember with this following little trick a Russian friend taught me:

White (North Pole)
Blue (Artic Ocean)
Red (Red Russia... formerly at least)

FYI, I'll post an alternative flags mod, soon after the game is released. It's more cool if you can choose between more variants for each civ

Mind including a few flags for civs not in the game, or civs that could be (in terms of geography) be called a diffeent one, Rome-Italy or Aztecs-Mexico qualifty. It'd also be cool if you had a few for: Switzerland, Zulu, Iroqouis, and some other popular civs left out for the core game?

That needs to be changed too. America will get it's deep blue and France will get it's beloved pink back

Seriously though, as this thread goes on... I'm beginning to like the flag included in the game. Simple, yet eloquent.

maybe. For now I've done a wide range of variants for almost each civ.

Well, I'm modding it to 13 stars anyway, it's just a texture.

Isn't that very close to the EU flag?

EDIT: Never mind, already been answered. I think its probably best to keep it simplified, though, so I have no problem with leaving it as is.

The number 13 is important, the order is not that important, because the rectangular shape is also used today

Incidentally, at the time of the American Revolution, that pattern was a more popular design for the flag than the circle of stars.

The one on the right might be confused with Russia, who, iirc, also has an Eagle.

Corn, do a 13 star in box alignment... I haven't got any graphic tools on this home pc at the moment, gotta wait until I'm back in my dorm to use it, but I'd like to see a preview of that (which I think is most suetable)

I think the thirteen stars would be more symbolic... and seeing as Washington is one of the two leaders... could be more argueably preferable then FDR's era of 48 stars (aside from 13 looking cooler/less busy).

I'd say the circle is probably better, due to lay out, history, and easier to spot in a way... as a boxlike pattern would make them kind of blend too much IMHO.

I've already made the 13 flags pattern, an eagle head, and stars and stripes flag. I can't post any screenshot, but I assure that they'll be released immediately after the game.
