America's flag is wrong!!!!

I've already made the 13 flags pattern, an eagle head, and stars and stripes flag. I can't post any screenshot, but I assure that they'll be released immediately after the game.

:hmm: how can you make the graphics for the game when you don't even know what size the image needs to be and what type of file it is?

Strhopper - Don't get bothered about those sorts of comments.

THIS POST IS HUGELY OFF-TOPIC....

No-one is really anti-USA or against the American people - but there is a hell of a lot of frustration out there about the average person not having a say about our own foreign policy. 'How you deal with the Americans' is an important issue in every single election across the world.

Recently some idiot who is currently treasurer in Australia and soon to be the PM said that teachers were teaching kids to be anti-American. This comment only further proves how unsuitable and out-of-touch our own leaders are with us. The statement is a complete lie - but it seems that he is asking for unquestioning acceptance of American values (that is whoever is in power at the time) and American culture - which believe me is all-pervasive here in Australia because its cheap to buy and put on TV/radio. Being friends and working with the US is a good thing - but not blind obedience. So some frustration spills over...

ON TOPIC - Rhye, it seems it will take less than 25 seconds between the games release and a posted change. I take my hat off to that.

Whats with the USA bashin  ..............Bet you were excited when you came up with this one  ...................Man, there alot of (cant say that) people on these threads  not good

Some days I wish Americans understood sarcasim (as used worldwide) and the Aussie humour. It's the Aussie way to poke fun at our bigger friends, the US & English included. ;)

No ill meant, just pokin' a lil' fun at the US. :)

As long as can return the pokes with friendly pokes of our own, all is good. :)

The eagle would have been a good choice too,
Too many civs have prior claim to the eagle: Rome, Austria, Germany (and Russia???).
I learnt that the US used the eagle quite late in my life and I was surprised that they claimed a symbol that most recently was so associated with Nazism

The true Eagle is the Byzantine one, which passed on to the Russian Monarchs and now to the Russian Republic. The rest are all sad wanna be eagles... :p

Seriously though, I think the white star is OK. I wonder how they will decide on the other flags. Ancient Egypt with the Arabian Egyptian flag or an Arabian symbol would be quite silly, even though the name of the country is the same... IIRC, there weren't any flags only colors in the earlier Civ-games I played.

Egypt has a hieroglyph (what exactly it means I do not know but Rome: Total War used a similar hieroglyph).

The flags seem to be the most reasonable things to this date (in comparison to what leaders they chose for example).

The Russian Double-Headed Eagle flag is the bombdiggity of the Civ4 flags. IMO, it's the best fit of the national symbols, and looks just plain cool. ;)

Agreed. Most of the flags make perfect sense. The only one that really confuses me is the symbol for the Mongols. Why a horse head, when Mongolia has the soyombo right there in its modern flag?
