For me, Blake's AI improvements brought back my Civ addiction. Before, the game was too easy and the AI was too stupid to make it a challenge. But now, I have went down to Prince from Monarch and I still face a challenge because of the more intelligent AI. With that said, however, the AI remains to have some significant problems that need to be addressed.
For instance, they still make poor decisions with their great persons. Who, besides the AI, creates a Golden Age with their great persons? Even worse, I played a game with Mao on my borders, and he founded Judaism right near my capital. Mao spent the game spreading his religion to various cities throughout the continent. Almost the entire continent was Jewish and so it would have been a huge bonus to get the Jewish monument (Temple of Soloman? I forget...) in his holy city. Instead, what does he do with a Great Prophet when he one is finally born? He starts a Golden Age! Clearly the Holy City's special building will generate more commerce over the game than the Golden Age. What do I care? Because I was his neighbor and I intended to eventually take that holy city, but it does me no good because I didn't have any great prophets.
So, that's my rant about the improved, but still not perfect, AI. Their military campaigns still leave a lot to be desired too. I would like to see them make more aggressive attacks and go for cities instead of just pillaging everything.
What else about the AI is still lacking?
