I was under the impression that libertarians were all for minimalist government? Which is really the only reason they want legalization of drugs. Most libs are actually non users...

That and I believe that you should have the right to kill yourself however you like.

Yeah, it's kinda ironic - if someone really wants to do drugs all the time, they would of course want the drugs to be legal, but they'd also want a socialist government that would ensure they had an adequate quality of life despite doing drugs instead of working...

Now, it comes down a bit to the exact definition of "drug" and "user", but I'd like to place a considerable question mark at the implication that most drug users don't work for their living.

I said "all the time". Drug usage doesn't automatically make you a burden on society, but wanting to use drugs all the time makes you want to be a burden on society.

I don't think it's possible to have a full-time job and a content boss if you're a heroin addict. It just takes over your life and consumes you. The physical signs and consequences are also obvious. So, most addicts of heavy drugs probably don't work for a living.

That's precisely why I said it depends on what drugs and what kinds of users we look at.

And so the irony remains, as they will want a social system to guarantee a certain living standard and free health care, even though they advocate the right to destroy their lives. A libertarian would have people bear the consequences of their own choices.
