Anarchy Game discussion thread

hey i have to live in that town who's pop is probaly higher than the real one's

Wait, IronMan2055, your signature says "first and second ever...". Where's the second ANARCHY GAME (tm)?

and now it is the only anarchy game

Just want to point out that while I 'left' the thread and didn't get involved with more decisions I still read the whole thing and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to future AG's.

Hello, I'm back from my christmas break.

I'm just trying to shake off the effects of food poisoning that I got on Christmas Eve (yay, lucky me!), then I'll start my second Anarchy Game. That may be some time this evening (28 Dec, GMT).

I'll use the rules I posted earlier (with subsequent amendments made after some discusion).

I will be picking a random Civ, and I will be playing at whatever that flipping difficulty level below Noble is, whose name I can never remember.

I will try to keep slightly better track of past and future orders this time.

Someone said try not to include rules in the anarchy game until I have to. I think the ones I have selected (see a few posts back), are ones that have already been shown to be needed.

Okay, Anarchy II, starting soon......

Edit: Oh, and I'll be using the new patch too, in case that bit of info is important....

Edit Two: My prediction is that on that difficulty level, you'll all get bored to easily, because it will be a walkover.... :) You'll be screaming at me to restart on Noble (but not Prince, oh no, never again...the horror!).

Whoops. I didn't realise SamE had started a new Anarchy Game.

I won't steal his thunder, I'll wait to start a new one when his is over.

Good luck SamE.

Appoligies if I'm stepping on toes, but I started another Anarchy game. I'm trying to institute an order list so things don't get out of hand. Slightly modified rule set, should still be chaotic. We'll see how this set of rules work. Hopefully, the differences in timezones will keep the active games from clashing. Perhaps a free-for-all save handoff could be initiated? That would be suitably...anarchic :D

Anyway, go here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=150540

WHAT HAVE I DONE!? :)

Four Anarchy Games, and one in Civ III....

I have created a monster (I shall call it...Dave).

I really won't be starting another now until things die down a bit, lol.

Good on ya everyone who starts one, or plays in one.

How about taking several offers and then picking one of them randomly?

Nothing is closer to anarchy then set of random orders each chosen for a different strategy...

Well, anarchy means after all "rule of the most powerful" and not "rule of the luckiest". And speed represents power in the AGs. ;)

Can you please add this rule:
DO NOT POST FULLSIZE PICTURES.

It just makes reading the thread a total disaster (unless you have a 21" monitor).
I suggest a standard size (like 800 x somehintg).

I immediately close any thread that needs horizontal scrolling.

A very good example of a well documneted game is this one (nice story too :) ):

Please consider this as a rule.
Presentation is half the fun :)

Cheers.

Actually Anarchy means "Rule by all," which is pretty much what we're doing.

Hmm, I've been trying to limit my image size to 1024 x 768 or smaller. I guess I'll resize images down on more level. I understand your concern. Problem is, smaller images make it harder to tell whats going on. =\

Someone had said this before, but I like to reiterate that in order for Anarchy games to succeed, there should be some handover mechanism. Else a game-master (or game-puppet if you will ;) ) would get tired of it very soon, making anarchy games more of a passing faq than anything.

It will be better to have two or three game-puppets handing over the anarchy game, so that the game gets run throughout the clock. This way will be more anarchy, because then it will involve more players giving commands at different time of day.

That's not a bad idea, could get a little complicated handing it off though if you want to maintain the flow of the game. In the succesion games it doesn't matter how long it takes to get handed off as much, but the whole point of the anarchy game is that it keeps flowing and people have a chance to make dicsions. It would get annoying having to wait for the next puppet to pick up the save..

That's my 2 Canadian pennies worth. Which is a bit less then 2 American cents worth.
