NEED HELP!

This was a special request of mine for Chuggi to do, and he did indeed create this unit (all thanks to Chuggi)... this is something I would normally ask the author to fix, but as busy as he is (and hard at work releasing v2.1 of CD sometime in the future), I don't want to burden him anymore.

This unit looks really cool, but something is weird in the animation sequence...

The unit stands correctly, but very often (about 90% of the time) 1, 2 or all 3 of the units in the formation will reverse their spears and attack with the wrong end of the spear! Now I know the Germans were barbarians in ancient times, but I'm pretty sure they knew which end was the pointy end of a spear! Yet these guys always pummel their opponents with the blunt end... it'd be obvious if they held their spears upside down in the normal stance, but they don't, so I don't know what's wrong.

These guys use the "normal" Spearman animation (or is that what is wrong?).

Anyways, see screen shots to see what I mean... can anyone fix this either in the NIF file or the default spearman animations?

standing just fine on the left, but wrong-end of the spear in combat on the right!

Here's the file (uses standard spearman animation):

Wolfshanze you said it in the middle of your topic ;) , these guys don't use the spearman animation.

They use the HeavySpearman.kfm animation, chuggi did an A+ job as always.

BTW, I lol @ this

Won't you guys STOP making FUN of Chuggi's hard work??? He clearly stated the month of the release, but cleverly he did not, and I must emphasize this, HE DID NOT SET A RELEASE YEAR!!!!!!! So please stop this bashing campaign. Period.

;)

Well there you have it... DUH...

I always thought if you used the wrong animation they'd look all dorked-up in the normal stance... well... learn something new every day!

Thanks DWOLF!

Well, how could you say I was making fun of Chuggi's release date? Note I clearly stated "sometime in the future"... I did not specify a year either! :deal:

Idiots like myself, of course! :D
Includes me too... my own spearmen don't even know which end is the pointy end.

That was odd.

You can't always assume what animations they use. ;)

Also, I remember stating recently that I'm gonna upload CDM v2.1 this year, but I don't give out months anymore. :mischief: So be patient! :p You may be surprised to see it in the database soon.

I don't know how/why I missed your reference as to which animation to use with this guy, but I was always under the impression that if you used the WRONG animation, it would look all screwy in the default "at rest" pose, so it would be clear if you needed to find another animation... obviously I was wrong about that.

This guy looks perfectly normal in the at-rest pose, and sometimes even fights correctly... but one or two guys would always switch their spear around... it never dawned on me to try a different animation because the default pose looked correct... oh well... learn something new every day!

I figured Murphy's Law would kick-in and you'd have to release your mod since I just released mine (of course, I thought the same thing about your mod the last three times I released mine!).
