Ank13 - Monty goes into Space

And here it is.
Pre-turn: Took a look of the city.

1710: Factory -> Hoover, cleared forest (it's outside the city radius), automated workers
IT: Russia signs a alliance with Germany against France.

1720: put 3 workers in the city, since they have nothing to do.
IT: India declares wor on France. Lost iron.

1725 [5]: Buy Wines, Incence and Gems from Germans for 130 gold. This is so cheap in OCC.

1940: Remembered this is OCC, so we don't need Hoover. Hydro plant in 2 turns. Workers build fortresses, because they have nothing to do.

1750: [10] Pollution, cleared in 3 turns. Hydro => Inteligence in 9.
Lost furs, bougt dyes and spices from Iroquois for 90 gold.

1754 IT: France peace with Germany. Lost almost all resources.

1756: Radio, Oil and rubber from Germany for 2800 gold. We still have 3700 +153gpt.
Start Combustion at min.

IT: Babylon declares war on France. They only have 6 cities left.

1758 [14] IT: Iroquois war against France, India peace with them.

1760 [15]: Combustion from iroquois for 2390g, sold it to India for horses, iron and furs.

Ok... nice trading. Now the money situation is what it should be: enough for us to trade techs around easily.

I'll play tonight... or not. it's kinda late. Tomorrow I won't get it... neither the day after.

Which puts Tomoyo UP!

I'll swap.

Putting the workers into city was bad because right after that 3 pollutions came. We can only clean one in 3 turns. With 6 workers it would be 2 turns.

Got it. Sounds like we want more workers. Foreign, if possible.

Pre-flight: WHY ARE WE RESEARCHING FLIGHT? FLIGHT MAKES OUR PRECIOUS COLOSSUS OBSELETE.

Set research on MAss Production. It comes in 18. I don't know if we should turn off research, but I'll research anyway...

Due in 18.

1762AD (1): Why is the governor on? Ankka wouldn't let me use the governor in Ank11... :cry:

1768AD (4): Intel Agency --> Infantry

Disband an archer.

1770AD (5): Germany and Babylon sign an alliance against France.

1772AD (6): Infantry --> Infantry

1774AD (7): Babylon and Iroquois sign a MPP. Babylon has a monopoly on Mass Production and doesn't want to trade.

1776AD (8): Infantry --> Infantry

Buy Mass Production from Babylon for 950 gold. Sell it to India, but not Germany. Germany is a Monarch and has nothing to offer.

Turn research off. I think we'll make it on time.

IT: Germany and Babylon sign a MPP.

1780AD (10): Re-buy some luxuries.

Infantry --> Hoover Dam (pre-build)

Babylon has Motorized Transportation already! Wow, they're fast.

IT: We get a palace expansion.

1782AD (11): Finally figure out a good defense strategy.

IT: Catch the Hammer planting a spy in our city.

1784AD (12): India and Germany sign an alliance against France.

1786AD (13): Babylon and Germany enter the Modern Times. Ooh, boy. How am I gonna get out of this?

Break the bank and buy Motorized Transportation and trade it for Flight. Colossus will become obselete next turn. We are so screwed.

1788AD (14): Oh great, we're making 44gpt and down two modern age technologies to Babylon, one to Germany. Ack.

1790AD (15): Russia joins the tech leaders. We are so broke. A gpt deal just expired, so now we make 4gpt. That's f-o-u-r.

To top it off, we have pollution problems. :(

Notes to the next player:
- We want our Golden Age to come when we build the Manhattan Project. Colossus is religious, we need a militaristic one.
- Maginot line style defense is no good. Let's set up a cheese grater.

Here's the defense strategy: if Germany attacks, hopefully they will go around our forts, enduring some free shots. Also, they won't be able to attack in one turn giving us some time to injure some.

Let's see if I get this today..

governors are banned. don't use them, whoever it was. :hammer:

EDIT: Tomoyo, you forgot the save! :hammer:

At least I'm sure I checked all your hides for it... now you didn't even post a link. :p

First IBT: Babylon completes the Hoover dam... so much for that prebuild.

1792AD [1]: Waste 216 shields as we change to a tank from Hoover...

1796AD [3]: We lose oil and rubber... but I don't think we need them now.

1800AD [5]: Renew furs with Gandhi... iron isn't needed as we have all needed squares railroaded.

1804AD [7]: Babylon destroys France...

1818AD [14 - IBT]: Babylon attacks Germany. Great, that should slow the tech pace down...

1820AD [15]: We should get 84gpt back in a few turns... then it will be time to trade. We have now some 200gold and 7gpt... with Wealth in Monti.

Tomoyo - played before Ankka
Cuivienen - UP!
bed_head7 - on deck
Pentium
Ankka - just played

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 48 to post turnlog and save.

I am going to go ahead and post a got it, as Cuivienen seems to be gone. Of course, I waited too long and now can't play tonight.

1820 [pre-turn]: Ok fire the governor. He was such a nice guy!
We can't trade anything.
IT: India attacks Germany. Cool!
1822 [1]: Buy Wines, Incense and Gems form Germany and Silks from Babylon. All for 172g and world map.
Our city can work without entertainers. Computers in 24.
1830 [5]: Renew Dyes and spices, we don't need coal.
IT: Russia attack Germany. Even cooler!
1832 [6]: India starts building UN and MP. Not so good.
We receive 87gpt but can't buy neither Fission nor Ecology.
1836 IT: Iroquois attack Babylon. Everybody is now ot war except us.
1844: [12] Germany scares me with moving panzers through our land.
1848: Iroquois build UN in Cattraugus, before we could even get Fission.
Luckily there is a world war so probably no elections.
1850 [15]: Rocketry form India for 68gpt and 925gold. Useful for SS. Computers in 10.

Who should we vote for if Iro hold elections? We won't be on the list. I think Germans cause almost everyone is at war with them.

Here is the diplomacy:

If you don't want anyone to win, abstain. Always abstain. The nominees need a majority of all nations, not just of those who voted, so by abstaining you eliminate the possibility of accidentally voting for the civ that wins. And, once again, got it.

1870 AD (10) - I won't give all the nitty gritty details, but we got Computers, and traded for about 600g, 120gpt, and tech parity, which includes Advanced Flight, Amphibious Warfare, Fission, Ecology, Space Flight, and Synthetic Fibers. Good news is we have Uranium. Bad news is that even completely funded, we can't get a tech faster than 39 turns at max research. I don't know if building SETI is really worth it. So we are on Apollo now, which I prebuilded for the best I could. We will still be able to change to SETI if that is the group wish, though. Research on min towards Miniturization, which is not a SS tech but we know that no one is researching it.

1878 AD (14) - Germans build SETI, so it isn't an issue anymore. I guess they must have had a GL.

Wow... pretty cool trading. You mean we got computers first? That was a lucky one... great job getting us to parity. :goodjob:

Now we'll have to be careful and build as fast as we can... and some military might make sense, too.

I can't be up now! I jumped in before bed_head7, so this would count as a swap. That means Ankka is up now.

Nice we have parity. Now just build parts and voila! Unless Germans do it faster...
