Ank13 - Monty goes into Space

Why is there no link to the save? :nono:

Got it by digging through the upload folder and will play soon.

Pre-flight: We need four techs and all the parts to get the Spaceship. I don't know what will be harder, but I think the building of the parts will be very hard.

IT: Iroquois and India sign peace.

1882AD: Moscow builds the Manhattan Project.

1884AD: Apollo Program --> SS Engine

Everyone has Satellites. We can afford it, however.

1892AD: Pollution strikes. Notice a gpt deal expired. Yay.

IT: Germany and Russia sign peace.

1898AD: Pollution cleared, other pollution appears.

1904AD: Everyone knows Recycling now.

1908AD: SS Engine --> SS Docking Bay

We have not had our Golden Age yet, have we? We need to declare war on Russia, sign people against them, leave our city and a space next to it open, and then try to use Jaguar Warriors to kill a landed unit.

Ok... triggering the GA would be good... and the link to the save is there. :p I just checked...

I'll play today unless something radical happens..

1910AD [preturn]: Ok... time for action. Declare war on Russia. Try to sign Hiawatha against Cathy but we have no embassy... make one for 125 gold. Hiawatha wants 190 gold for war. Not bad. Signed.

Hammi joins the plot for 330 gold. Bizzy is a snob and wants 430 gold. The peacemaker, Gandhi, wants only 380 gold...

We're running out of time... we're at almost 16000 culture and at 66cpt... about 60 turns until cultural victory... not that bad, I guess..

IBT: India and Babylon sign a treaty against the Iro. Looks like I may have triggered a world war... :mischief:

1914AD [2]: Got some space stuff done... there's a part we can't build. I'll have to investigate what we're missing... A jaguar now would do good, if the first one fails. We have no arty, so winning is hard without killing the unit first if trying to weaken it...

1916AD [3]: Jaguar assasins built. Start Some space stuff (I'm hopeless at remembering their names... )

1918AD [4]: Gandhi declares war on Bizzy... now this is what I always suspected he'd be really like.. ;)

1920AD [5]: This war was of no use. Russia is just getting fried like a sausage in a barbeque party...

1922AD [6]: Another spaceship part is ready... and we need a ship. And Rubber to get that one spaceship part done... trade time.

Buy rubber from Bizzy for 510 gold.
And oil from Gandhi for 480 gold...

And do some upgrading now that we have the resources to do that.

1924AD [7]: Babylon and India signed a pact against Germany.

Hammi tried to steal our troop plans, but failed.

1926AD [8]: Now that we have a transport, I start another spacepart. Not the exterior casing, which would take 11 turns, though. I'll hope to get a GA and build that then... the other two parts are 6 turns. Start one of those.

WHATTHE...!!! We're at war with Babylon... I guess the spy thing was too hard for him to get down his throat... so he blows everything up.

Sign RoP with Bizzy and start the march to Babylon... this will be easier than against Russia, I hope. Russia is down to 2 cities on an island that used to be French, btw.

Looks like someone nuked Hamburg...

1928AD [9]: Germany just captured Babylon... they're pretty powerful.

1930AD [10]: Kill an inf and a rifle in Uruk with the MA. one jag retreats and the other gets killed. Why didn't it retreat?

I'm out of ideas. Let's hope you aren't.

Pentium or Cuivienen is up. Which ever gets this first...

Hm. I'm going to join the hiding contest.

1930 [preturn]: Where's the love? Total war everywhere. Some artillery could be useful.
IT: Ur fell to the Germans
1932 IT: Germans raze Babylon.
1936 [3]: Cockpit -> Transport
1942 [6]: Transport -> SS Stasis Chamber (6)
Send some units to babylonians.
IT: Russians are destroyed. Lost some luxuries and renewed them them. Germans give 5 luxes for 150 gold.
1946: Babylon wants me to pay for peace. NO! Transport is on way to Herakleia.
1948: India declares war on us! Buy some aliances (all of them) and paid 40gold for peace with Babylon.
Now every AI is at war with every other AI. But we have war with India.
1950 [10]: Miniaturization -> Stealth. Sold it for Superconductor to Germans.
1952: Stasis chamber -> SS Fuel cells (3) Germany peace with India, paid 470 to get them back.
1554: Fuel cells -> SS Life support system (6). Pollution.

We still need 3 techs and 4 pieces. But we have time, no one is building the ship.

Ok... the reason we can't see if the AI is building the ship is because we don't have spies... although I don't think they are, they're at war.

Try and trade us the techs the AI have...

Cuivienen or bed_head is up.

Really? Or was it in unpatched version, where they told me for every part they builded, without spies.
The problem is that we can only trade with Germany and Babylon, and Babylon didn't give Satelites for Miniaturization.

If you care to take a look

1955 AD (0) - We seem to have ruined our rep since our turns. Wonder when that happened.

1956 AD (1) - A transport that had something in it moved before I noticed it or had a chance to do anything, I guess attacked a submarine because I didn't see anything, and sunk.

1957 AD (2) - As our rep is shot already, make peace with India and get Satellites for Miniaturization and most of our gold.

1960 AD (5) - Pick up Recycling from the Babs. Not any good, but it only cost us 100g and Miniaturization.

IT - Germans demand 99g and territory map

1961 AD (6) - I take that back. Build some SS part, start on Offshore Platform. Sell Library and University, as they do us no good at this point, but it does help rush the platform.

1963 AD (8) - Disband a couple cavalry, and finish Offshore Platform. Begin SS Thrusters.

Some IT - Get the message that our sources of wine, gems, etc. are gone. I thought for a few moments that the Germans had declared war on us, and the game was over!

Some later IT - Get a pop-up looking like this:

Oh no! I thought for a few moments that the Germans had declared war on us, and the game was over! Well, I guess the game is over, but because they went to space. Like that makes any sense. That just means one fewer rival. Plus, we have the greatest city in the world. How could someone else be the winner?

A final picture of our empire, unfortunately with pollution.

And, the newest entry to my CivIII HoF, sitting proudly atop a list of one games.

ank13_highscore.jpg

It was a fun game, though we didn't pull it out in the end. I think I'll give it another shot in Conquests, maybe solo on Emperor with the Byzantines.

Ah well... the start was rather challenging, and so was the civ. We almost did it. The only problem was that we weren't able to get enough gold from the AI in the IA to get to buy the expensive MA techs.

But, good game team. :goodjob:

:(

Oh well, I guess the cards didn't play out. I suppose somehow the Germans, the underlings when the game began, somehow, somehow, became a runaway AI. Stupid runaway AIs...

That's why I always play Germans. I don't want them in the game. But we are the moral winners. A good game!
