Announce your new/updated Civ3 files for front-page coverage!

Nice, there's stuff I'd neve rhave found on my own if it weren't for here.
Thanks BM, looks good.
Thanks guys. One of these months everyone will post everything within the guidelines. The the announcement will be nearly perfect but it won't be my fault. :p

:coffee:

Glad to see you got your sense of humour back ;).

In fact i do not, but i do know that i provided accurate links to the forum page from where you can dl them.

Does it have to do with you wanting a link to the database? Perhaps such consistency is not required (if that is the issue) since most people can follow a simple link from the forum to the database.

In fact i do not, ...
In case you missed it in my post a little higher up this page i'll quote it for you with emphasis added.
Thanks guys. One of these months everyone will post everything within the guidelines.
It's pretty disingenuous to say you don't know why when you and I have done this dance before - over a year ago. I'll make the type a little larger for you so it's easier to read.
Moderator Action: Some people still have trouble understanding the need for standard sized pictures & links without "..." in the middle of them. A newcomer can be forgiven. Unfortunately the majority of remaining headaches come from people who have been around for the discussions.

Be sure to note your response at the time:
I don't see why you didnt include my armenian towns as well, since you didnt bother including pics of any of my works ;)

As for standardised pics, don't think that everyone is reading this thread, it is the first time i am reading such a thing.
So you said in February of 2010 you had read about the problem. It's mentioned in the OP along with the multiple solutions. Over a year ago you knew there were guidelines. You've had plenty of time to read up on them and ask questions about anything you didn't understand. About 30 of my posts throughout the thread refer to the guidelines as well. Quite a few of those reminders - in the bright mod-tag colors - have been posted after - by your own admission - you knew that it is important to look at moderator posts in this thread. This one from the beginning of last month must have been kind of difficult to overlook. (the type style & size are in the original)
Moderator Action: If anyone does a tl;dr on the above post they've abrogated their right to any discussion concerning broken links.
If you don't wish to read and follow the frequently mentioned guidelines that's your privilege. That does not create any special obligation on my part to make an exception just for you.

Its ok, i guess it is enough satisfaction to plague you with my lack of interest about the guidelines, to make up for my work not having a link.

But i am curious: the links i posted do not have any quotations anywhere. So where did i go wrong?

Edit: or did you decide to not include the perfectly working and standard link just because you did not like the complimentary image?

I hope i am wrong, but if that is the case i could understand your decision to not include any preview pic of my work, but definitely not the one to not use the valid link.

You do know that harrassing moderators is infractable just like harassing anyone else, don't you? You've now stated publicly that you are intentionally "plaguing" ( = harassing ) me with these sorts of posts.

It's a curious thing that you have ignored the very post you are responding to.
It's mentioned in the OP along with the multiple solutions.

Oh, wait a minute. This explains it.
... my lack of interest about the guidelines...
You've also once again admitted that you already knew about the guidelines.
If you don't wish to read and follow the frequently mentioned guidelines that's your privilege. That does not create any special obligation on my part to make an exception just for you.
Moderator Action: In other words it's still up to you to post in accordance with the guidelines in the OP. Don't and that part of your post won't be included in the announcement.

I don't care what your picture looks like as long as it does not violate any rules of the site.

Moderator Action: You may feel that your links are "perfectly working" "standard" and "valid" but they are not. Since they do not meet the guidelines in the opening post of this thread they are none of those. According to the Oxford Dictionary American Dictionary of Current English these are the relevant definitions:

  • Working: "Functioning or able to function" & the "manner of functioning of a thing"Detailed directions for the proper way to post a link that functions as needed for use in constructing the announcement are in the opening post of this thread. You chose not to follow those guidelines. Your links do not meet the requirements therefore your links are not functional - which is why they were not used.
  • Standard: "of a normal or prescribed quality or size, etc." The prescribed standards for postable material are in the opening post of this thread. Detailed directions for meeting those standards are also in the opening post of this thread. It is also stated multiple times in this thread that anything not meeting those standards will not be used. You chose not to follow those standards. Your links & images do not meet the requirements therefore your links & images are not used.
  • Valid: "executed with the proper formalities". Detailed directions for the proper form in which to post are in the opening post of this thread. The posting of your links was not executed in the proper form. Therefore they are not valid. The same is true for the images you provided. Invalid material such as that you provided is not used.
  • Perfect: " complete, not deficient" & "faultless" & "suitable". The way you posted your links displays them incompletely which makes them deficient. They are faulty by not following the detailed directions for the proper way to post in the opening post of this thread. This makes them unsuitable for use in constructing the announcement. You chose to ignore the detailed directions in the opening post of this thread. By choice you posted incomplete, deficient, faulty & unsuitable material. Therefore your material was not used.

Moderator Action: Any further argument, dispute, publicly posted disagreement or any other form of harassment concerning this month's post will be reported so that another moderator will handle it. Posting in such a manner will also be considered public discussion of a moderator's action and you will earn a separate and distinct infraction because of that.

Any similar posts, series of posts or complaints by any means of communication concerning future announcements will be considered willfully ignoring explicit direction by a moderator and will be infracted.

Moderator Action: I am sending you a copy of this entire post via private mail with return receipt requested. Therefore there will be no doubt that you have received the explanations and instructions in this post. Those instructions include reading the entire opening post of this thread.

You did not have links for any of the city sets by me or Ogedei, Ares palm resource and the building set by Nick :)

I don't mean to sound smug :smug: but actually, he did have a correct link for my buildings set and that is why it is the only one with a link in the announcemnet out of the entries you listed.

If you check the guidelines in the first post you'll see there are not one but four different ways to make sure your link is in the format that BM wants. It's not difficult. The one I used was simply to add a space at the start of the link. ;)

I feel like i should make it clear here too (i also sent a pm to Blue Monkey) that to me it was obvious i was joking in my first sentence of my response to him. I would never try to annoy someone on purpose like that :)

Moderator Action: Publicly disputing the interpretation of your post violates the directions in that post. The consequences naturally follow.
Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

Moderator Action: I will not debate this any further. Disagreeing with my interpretation of your post is disagreeing. You made it clear in your pm that you dispute my interpretation of the entire post. Your more recent statements in its defense are not humorous.

Do not publicly post on this topic again in this or any other thread. You will receive infractions - not warnings.

Moderator Action: Posts by anyone else about this will be considered PDMA and dealt with accordingly.

Sorry, don't mean to ignore instructions; but just some possibly helpful info that I'll include with the file announcement; might be helpful, might not:

Right clicking a link and selecting 'Copy Link Address' (or the similar Firefox/IE copy link equivalent) correctly copies the whole link address, no matter what it may look like (with ...'s or not). This would be just as fast as copying and pasting the actual link text itself; and then it might alleviate some of the issues with CFC not showing links in full.

Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889
Moderator Action: Let me reinforce that: please, use the thread just for file announcements.

Moderator Action: The debate on the guidelines, including links, was over a long time ago. Your opening statement makes it clear that you know you're ignoring instructions. You've contacted moderators by PM many times - you're well aware of how to communicate something that doesn't belong in public.

Moderator Action: Warned for ignoring moderators' direction & PDMA
