Radio Belfast reports that the government of Britain has fled shortly before the Nazi soldiers entered Liverpool. They stayed breifly in Belfast, before once again departing. The details of these travels have yet been revealed, but however the Prime Minsiter left a recording in Belfast to be played upon his departure. He insisted that though the Home Islands have fallen, the Empire and the Commonwealth must stand up together to support their mother country, who had so long supported them. Only in this way can the British citzens be liberated from the Hitlerites. With the government in flight, and without any sort of organized command, the most senior British general working in Asia has declared him the Emergency Commander, and set the temporary capital of Free Britain to Bombay, India. Most parts of the empire have already confirmed their allegaince to the Free British movement unitl such a time when the members of Parliament and the Cabinet can organzie a new governmental seat.

The preceeding paragraph, if you do not feel likk reading it, can easily be summed up in one sentence: Holy ****, I am in deep trouble.

German report Week 42

The Germans continue their advance through Turkey and on to the middle east and down through Spain. The following cities were captured: Adana, Damascas, Jerusalem, Bagdhad, Amman, Suez Canal, Cairo, Basra, and Tabriz, and Bilbao, Barcelona, La Coruna, and Belfast. A few ships were sunk near Plymouth and a lot of US destoryers were sunk in the Mediterranean.

Well the British are a proud people, but are beaten very badly. However, we will go down with a tough fight. No cities in Egypt could be retaken, but both Malta and Tripoli are in British hands.

Is Soviet Russia up for grabs? I didn't see anyone playing her....

Germany captured El Alamein, Luxor, Mut, DOngola, Tripoli, Port Sudan and Gibralter from the Brits. It notices that the Straits of Gibralter are getting awfully crowded with British, French and US ships. Germany also captures Teheran, Trabzon, Erzurum, Riyadh, Valencia, Madrid, Antalya, Izmir, Lisbon, Athens, and Coopenhagen from the Neutrals.

Destroyed US & British ships. Attacked Manilla by sea -- almost had it but ran out of men. Stupid cannons with hit points. :crazyeye:

I wish Germany could loan me some of them fine tankity tanks he's got. :king:

Well things look bleak for the Commonwealth. Launched an amphibious assault of Sardinia, though, and the city easily fell to British occupation. I must admit, Spartaca, this has been a well-played game. I have played previous games as Germany, but was never able to masterfully conquer so many territories in such a short span of turns. Before, I thought you must be an excellent civ player, who's skills far outmatched my own. However, I have recently done some thinking. Germany brought an awfully huge number of panzer 3's against France and England. Honestly, i do not remember having such a large amount of these great panzers availbale until much later in the game. This led me to think about how you could possibly have gotten so many Panzer 3's. The only possibility that game to mind, I do not much like. It seems possible that you might have taken your huge number of ships, and disbanded your destroyers and submarines in cities. These are unneccessary, as a nval victory would surely depend upon your larger vessels. By disbanding these ships, you could have gotten the extra shields needed to pump out a panzer 3 in nearly every coastal city every turn. This would obviously explain the complete lack of ship-to-ship combat, and the huge volumes of amazing tanks you now possess. Though it is technically not cheating, I find this to be in poor taste, resulting in a hollow victory. It seems a very selfish decision, as the game was made to be fun and you could have achieved victory in the long run by using convential means, and enjoyed it much more. I am severely hoping that I am wrong, and would like very much for you to truthfully tell me that my conclusions are mistaken, and call me whatever names come to mind for thinking you would stop to such levels.

It was not stated at the start of the game that disbanding was not allowed. I don't do it with Japan -- but I need my ships. It's within the rules of the game and if there is a problem with the tactic it should be stated at the start of the game as a house rule.

Spartaca kicked my butt with this strategy in our one on one game -- I didn't complain. But I am going to state it on WWII games from now on -- especially WWII Global -- but only because the war is over in 1939 and no fun for everyone else because of their lack of disposable units.

With the situation the game is in now, I don't think it's worth continuing. Even though I was enjoying the chess match we had going on in the Pacific. :) Maybe we could restart with no disbanding as a house rule?

Yeh that was my fault. I didn't state it as a house rule, so I really have no grounds to complain. but i am also going to start remember to put it down as a house rule in my other ww2 games.

Hi Bill.

Yes, I disbanded some destroyers and subs in my coastal cities in my first 2 turns. This gives me a very strong attack right away, especially since I start with 3 armies. It cost 6 naval units to build each panzer so I made a conscious decision to abandon the seas to the allies. There is a big cost to disbanding units. I always thought this was part of the strategic options available to a player.

WVCivnut and I are playing the multiplayer 1.1 version of the game against each other which is very different. It isn't worthwhile to disband ships in that game as it takes 15 ships to build 1 panzer.
