Any Flag Makers Out There?

And below are the rest of the proposed flags. Didn't mean to split pages, but oh well. Please post questions and comments below.

Am I missing something, I can't see any images in your post.

I have no problem seeing any of the 14 flags, montizzle. Don't know what to tell you.

Is anyone else having problems seeing the flags? I see them clearly.

Nonsense, you're not stepping on anyone's toes. This is a competition, after all, and competition is healthy. It allows more growth and experimentation in the designs. I just wanted to know how you made the waves.

Cool  Photoshop is pretty much my tool of choice for this sort of thing, I made the images quite quickly though & produced the wave & shadow effects rather crudely. I'd re-work them if any of the images were actually chosen/used.

nice Longus :) never knew you had those talents, mate :p

on a sidenote, perhaps the flag file(s) could be animated into flc files? if so, we could plug them into the game and have them viewable in-game...just a thought.

Cheers El-J, converting the files into flcs is no problem & something I'd probably do anyway just for my own enjoyment so if people do want them I'd be happy to convert any flag the public chooses.

Can't see them either Cyc... how have you attached/posted them?

Ok, I had them saved to a different post so the thumbnails wouldn't show up at the bottom of the page. Looks dumb. If I wanted to post thumbnails at the bottom of the page, I would. Anyway, the saving in a different post will work, but I guess it has to be in the same sub-forum or the same thread. Didn't test this.

Here they are now. I never had a problem seeing them. Hmmm. Maybe the medication....

@Longus
oh do definitely convert them :) and we could rename them exactly as the Celt leaderhead files are named and create a Flics folder within the scenario folder...sounds daunting to set up for non-modders. but in reality, it is rather simple :)

voted for Longus no. 7 and Longus no. 8 btw. couldn't resist the Zeppelin influences :mischief:

Aye, the fabled days of Led Zeppelin drew me to Longus10. But the tree and the deep roots of Longus9 got my vote. Hurry, El Justo. Invent an ale for the likes of me....

You can vote for both if that's what you wish, Furiey.

I'd vote for 6 if the green and white were vertical (white dragon/green dragon). As it is, 5 is the best for me.

- Easily doable.

Voters might also want to remember that waves & shadow can be added to any flag that doesn't already have them, if desired.

Maybe I'll wait until the poll closes & then tweak w/ the winner.

The National Flag poll has closed and he decision was made NOT to have a runoff. Therefore the winner of the poll "Longus9" is the Hibernian National Flag!

As of this post, we can start concentrating on other flags for Hibernia, such as the War Flag, the Naval Flag, Diplomatic Corp, etc. New entries or resubmission are welcome.

I would like to submit the following flag for war flag:

This is a battle standard in the Medieval tradition. A short explanation is in order. The background colors are the livery colors of our national flag. The dragon (a new one, more late middle ages -ish) our national symbol, is given in green, the traditional color of the Celts. Standards like this were used to show badges, a symbol associated with, but not necessarily part of, one's coat of arms. Badges were worn by the retainers of lords to show allegiance. The Tree of Life, as used on the national flag, fulfills this role nicely. They were also used to display mottoes, though ordinarily words should not be anywhere near flags or coats of arms. I arbitrarily chose "Hibernia Go Bragh" as our motto, but that is subject to change. I am personally pleased with this design, as I think it shows a strong relationship with the national flag, while still symbolizing "don't mess with us, we mean business."

An unrelated flag that didn't fit into the national flag contest:

This was meant to be an alternate flag for if/when we transition to communism.

Yes, a great war flag. A great design. Love the colors, the layout, the motto, and the new dragon. Bravo. I can see these carried by the Horsemen (once we learn how to ride Horses).

Can you tell us about the other flag?

Well, the second flag was inspired by the flag of the Soviet Union. I made it on the suggestion of Zearo shortly after he requested it, but didn't introduce it because I wanted to keep some tricks up my sleeve. We could call it the flag of the Hibernian Socialist movement. The dragon symbolizes the Celts and their heritage. The dragon forms a sickle, representing the proletariat. Its a dirty communist symbol, through and through.
