Anybody interested in helping me with my (hopefully) upcoming science fiction mod?

I had an idea a while back based off an AoE mod. It would work with a Mapped version of this.
Divide the map into Quarters with a pure black, impassable cross.
Divide your terrain up so that you have basic terrains for all 4 planets. For example, Grassland, Forsts, Mountains and Marsh for Funesti. Plains, Hills and Desert for Orbital Platforms, Landmark Grassland, Landmark Mountains And Thundra for Naumachia, and Jungle, LM Hills, LM Plains for Nona.

Or something like that at any rate. Then have one gap in the unblockable barrier from Funestis to the platforms, which only at a certain tech can be crossed (by having all future units able to go from one to the other) And have this from each planet to the next.

If it's done correctly it should produce a fun map to try to play in. :)

I actually did think about that. That's what I plan to do for my Extended Original mod. I just didn't know if I could make enough Landmark Terrain for four worlds, plus I'd have to make a HUGE map, which might cause problems. Also, come to think of it, the impassable cross wouldn't block flying units, at least I don't think it would. But maybe there is a way I could make that work. I certainly hope so, because it just wouldn't be the same without all four worlds. Yeah, I think maybe I'll try that. Thanks.

Flying units don't work properly ingame anyways
They will automatically loose against an enemy.

I could run up a more detailed plan for the four worls if you like :)

Wait, flying units don't work???

That could be a problem, as they are a big part of the TOT Scifi game. :aargh:

Boy, I hope I can actually do this... :twitch:

Well, they can only function correctly the traditional C3 way, not like the old ToT way :(

I've got the Pedia Icons for some of the resources done.

the one that looks like holes, and the bears (both large) could use work(why do the bears look like pigs? or are they _not_ bears?), but these look great in general (And I know you were working with limited graphics)

Oh, I just used the graphics from the original ToT mod. And I know some of them could use some work; pretty much all I did to make them different sizes was stretch and shrink them. I didn't really have an effective way to make them look less crummy. It's true, I'm working with very basic programs. I do most of my editing with Paint, which, while sometimes effective, is not the best way to do some of the harder stuff.
BTW, those aren't bears or pigs, they're "Thalarctos," a bearlike alien creature found on Funestis. They've always looked a bit like pigs.

I think I've done some modding with resources based on the Sci-fi resources in ToT.... I'll have to peruse my graphics folder on my home PC.....

BTW, I'll see about making a forest set to represent the Burning Forests of Funestis (Since, IIRC, Burning forests could be harvested and re-planted like regular forests, but generated 1 food, 1 shield and 1 commerce instead of 1 food and 2 shields)...... I'll have to dig through my ToT folder and do some C&P (probably use Snoopy's or the original Firaxis Jungle as the base and paste individual or clumps of ToT burning trees over it, much like how I created the Willies by taking the swamp graphics, changing the color of the base swamp to match that of the willies and pasting individual and clumps of willies over it).

I've made the irrigation file for the scifi mod.

Though, as you can plainly see, there's still many a bug that needs to be fixed. :(

Yeah, I aggree with Stormrage: When my friends Bert and John introduced me to Civ II ToT (Civ III hadn't yet come out), Our favorite All-night MP sessions usually involved the Sci-Fi mod, so I'm quite familliar with it. (now that I think about it, I'm half-tempted to use the spark-bags and quench-fruit in teh FF mod as replacements for the Exotic Fruit bonus resource).

Also, Pounder would be the guy to talk to about how to get the Irrigation looking right (he's the resident irrigation expert)
