Anyone else not wanting to play Civ VI until R&F is released?

I'm kind of the opposite, actually. I'm looking forward to R&F but I've just come back from a lengthy break from the game and would like to tick off as many achievements as I can before the expansion comes out.

Next up is to try for a win with China. They are my bête noire: they sound so good on paper but I just haven't been able to make them work yet...

After seeing all of the new features that Rise and Fall will bring, how it'll improve the game, I suddenly find vanilla Civ VI unappealing. I don't think i'll pick it up until Feb 8th.

Anyone else feeling the same way?

Actually, although I see your point, I do still find the vanilla game very appealing.....but I have gotten caught up with writing my story about The Rise of Poland, which prevents me playing the game.

I've actually been motivated to go achievement-hunting on map sizes/types I haven't tried before in advance of the expansion, and there are always scenarios as those aren't affected at all by the R&F changes.

One more game I do want to play before the expansion is a nuke the world type of game. Disable all victories but domination, and put off domination (since I always get that before manhattan project is even done), and just nuke as many cities as I can. Does the AI clean up fallout? I want to find out, as I'm not sure. I'd love to just raze a lot of cities and just leave the fallout (as Quill18 did in his latest game- though he ended up *spoilers* losing the game). And just have massive zones of fallout. It is my dream. I'd love to get the map looking like Wasteland 2 with many no-go zones. :)

I'm playing vanilla as much as I can. It is an excellent way to pass (free) time until the expansion comes out. Start a game and warp a few hours closer to the next quick look or leak :)

I also trying to play Vanilla and hoping for some more deity wins before it is gone as I anticipate going down in difficulty for the expansion to fully learn about the features.

I'm enjoying the legacy bonuses while they last...

I want to finish a game on Deity. After that, i'll be done for now. I'm now playing as Alexander.

I purchased the Deluxe Edition on Black Friday after playing on my brother's standard edition. I am now playing with the DLC civs prior to R&F. Sadly, Grenada, Muscat and Armagh haven't been in any of my games so far, so no fun CS UI or Bonuses yet. :(

I am trying to hit 5000 hours before it comes out, so no

wowsers. I'm in the 900's, doubtful I'll break 1000 before the XP, but who knows.

So after finishing my nuke the world game, I want to give Civ6 a break so I'm not too bored of the gameplay. Started a game of Civ4 yesterday.

And boy have I forgotten nearly everything about this game. I can't remember what to do with forests. I don't seem to have a lumbermill improvement. Do lumbermills exist in Civ4? Should I chop them all? It seems like I may want the extra production. Figuring out what worker improvements to make has been the toughest part of the game. I'm such a noob.

And I forget some of the mechanics of Civ4 aren't as great as I remember them. Like being forced to choose city production or choose research before I can look around my empire and evaluate things. And the AI isn't as good as I remember it, though I'm only playing Warlord LOL. I'm crushing though, so I should have played higher diff. And stack combat really isn't as bad as people say, the worst part is terrain modifiers don't make a huge difference in the game, so combat isn't as "in depth".

Not here. I am close to nuking seven beautifully positioned wonders so I can get that achievement and also finally win as China. (It was the first civ I tried in this game). Well, It has been a fun game. Uncharacteristically of me, but I am enjoying it a lot, I even went a bit on the domination trail as I have now conquered five capitals. Three more to go? Maybe, but I will probably do more of conquering in future games. As a Mac user and still waiting for the release of the Fall Patch and latest DLC, I decided to get my achievement percentage up and also try leader mods from @sukritact, @JFD and others. Fun, fun, I must say.

Once we get the latest Patch/DLC, I will of course try those civs out and get used to the changes there until I see how the expansion is through reviews here and on YouTube and, if 1) it really meets my expectations, 2) we have gotten cross-platform, 3) I've made peace with Aspyr and we have actually gotten the expansion out for Mac (mid year at this rate:rolleyes:, :sarcasm:), well, I'll delve into that. Conclusion, it is fun to see the game with other eyes by trying different things (even if the AI just does, to say the least, silly things :hammer2:and we Mac/Linux users are "dependent" on companies who decide to port a game to iOS before fulfilling previous obligations :wallbash: [pissed]:dunno:). C'est la vie, mes amis!

I'm on the "too anticipatory of the changes to play" boat, and so l will try one of my backup games (most likely the game produced by Soren, Offworld Trading Company, which is a blast).

Sounds like there are 2 primary camps here:
  1. It's pushing me to try <fill in the blank> before R&F comes out.
  2. I'm taking some time off so that I will be fresh for R&F.
I'm in the first camp, I was surprised to realize I hadn't won the game with 7 of the vanilla Civ's! So I am trying to churn through them while I have some vacation time.

I'm actually the opposite: the announcement of R&F has made me want to play the vanilla with the DLCs so far even more.

I broke down and started another Civ6 game. This time with a mod I haven't tried yet. Since I haven't played the game with any mods other than a map mod, now is the time I figure. I'm playing with moar units mod. Later I may try that mod mentioned in the combat thread. Although... My game just crashed. Now I remember why I almost never play with mods. They cause my games to crash too much. Hopefully I can find a way around this crashing, otherwise this game is lost. 2 crashes in a row on the same turn. grrrr. I'll back up one more on the auto saves and see what happens.

edit: Yup, it crashed again. I'll never play with that mod again. It was a promising game too, I thought I might actually be able to build Huey. I always fail trying to build that wonder. I was chopping lots of rainforest in order to get it.
