Anyone play Perpentach?

There's no way to play Balseraphs with Druids without a trip to RoK, right?

You can briefly go either Runes of Kilmorph or The Order - feel free to switch back ten turns later to Octopus Overlords, this will leave you as neutral.

Edit II: Where are Djinni coming from with OO?

Edit III: There's no way to play Balseraphs with Druids without a trip to RoK, right?

Sorry, I thought the OO priests had summoning. I just finished a game with Ashen Veil, and Ritualists had summoning, so I guess I was narrow minded for a while.

And druids you'd need the leaves for I guess. (Oh and I guess you can't be evil either)

Hum, are you sure ? I don't think so, beucase the Paladins are special for good civs, and Eidolons are for evil civs, and they don't require any religion. The Druids were the special to neutral civs, I think.

Yeah, you have to be good to train Paladins, Neutral to build Druids and Evil to build Eidolons. There aren't any civic or religious requirements to them.

Just finished my first game as Perpentach. The traits started great, but switched before I got a chance to exploit them (on turn 13). What it got changed to wasn't very useful at first (creative/industrious/arcane). But the creative is always nice, and helped my culture advance in time before Cardith squezed a settler passed me. The arcane trait actually got a use, and I built some adepts during this era. Eventually the traits changed again, but arcane stayed. I got Organized and built courthouses everywhere. And for the end I got an almost perfect switch, Industrious, Creative and Expansive. Would have been better with Philosophical, but the Industrious helped me finish a LOT of wonders. I switched to the Veil a little late, but it still worked ok.
Spoiler :
Monarch, Small Pangea, Quick speed.

My first cultural victory in FfH. :D

One suggestion to increase the effectiveness of Perpentach:

why not add an effect to insane that allows Perpentach to build/use units that are usually limited to certain civs?

Outcast Asylum: every civ has its insanes. Some of them to whacked out, to allow to run around. Those that manage to leave their home nations, might end up here.

This building has a 0.x% chance per turn to create a unit each turn. Those units will usually be special units of other civilizations (vampires, elven worker ...). Only limits on the required civilization are lifted, religious or alignment as well as technological requirements have still to be met.

Is it just me or does the AI play very well with Perpentach? In all my games if he's in it he's be among the best civs in that game. Quite often the best. Think I'll have to play him to see if I can figure out why...

Just learned that Shadow will allow playing any leader with any race. Varn is going to make an absolutely devastating Balseraph leader - Creative + Adaptive, and he's good which means that you can switch to OO straight away to end up neutral for super Druids. Puts both their default leaders to shame.

It's just a feature of BTS. A custom option, it says it's for multiplayer, but I presume it's for the custom game as well.

You can already play that way if you make minor changes in the .xls, but you can't have more than 4 leaders available per civ at a time (you may even be able to get around this if you edit the xml directly, but I haven't tried)

I have a quick question. Loki has channeling I and II. According to a post I read here or at the wiki, that should give him a chance to gain xp every turn, but I've never seen him gain even a single xp. Admittedly, he can be quite powerful as is but I definitely wouldn't be sad to see him leveling up.

Oops, forgot to actually post the question. Is the fact that he is not gaining xp intended?

he doesnt need experience for anything because he can only defend and when he defends he always runs away :)
