You know what, Quin, when you get back into Civ3, maybe you could ge back to that one story of yours, you know, the one you wrote based on that Mod you made?

I'm considering it. My current thinking is I'll start it up again shortly after I build a new PC, because even with a decent 2007 processor, Civ3 games with that big of maps slow down a good deal. Impressive for a 2001 game. It'll also let me write in Notepad at the same time as the game's running without risking missing anything. The timescale for that is undetermined. I've made some progress towards it already, but haven't been in a hurry as 4 year old computers don't seem nearly as slow today as they did 4 years ago. And because I'm still used to a college student's budget even though I actually have income now.

I feel another couple months off probably would be best for when I do get back into Civ, though, so the lack of a hurry isn't really delaying anything.

Wow. 87% of people in the civ III section play civ III. Who'd expect that?

It actually is higher than that. I didn't vote because I play both III and IV. Therefore, no vote applies to me. I've moved on (actually more of a sideways move) to CivIV but still enjoy III as well. IV isn't an improved version of III, but a completely different game. CivV, from what I can tell, is a step backward from III (not qualified to comment because I'm saving my money). I know of a few other people who play both games as well.

It's odd that you need a sarcasm smiley for that post, but it seems you do. I'm actually wondering where the 13% came from.

Last option is a joke option there.

Civ5 should have been 2009's Civ3.

Yes, I'm serious.

I have played III, IV, and V. However, III is my favorite. It was my first CiV game and I have many fond memories of total domination via cossacks and immortals. In fact, I still remember to this day debating with some kid about the CiV series when I was in middle school. Also, that reminds me I have a very old PC downstairs with a game I started roughly 6 years ago, and I never finished it. Nostalgia here I come.

I got CivIII PTW and Conquest. I use to play PTW but now i'm hooked on Conquest.

Windows XP is the best system ever!

Everyone needs DOSBox if they're true gamers.

Agree on both statements.

And I still like Civ3. Lately I played civ2 (after pause of 10 years) but now I'm planning to start some Civ3 games (again after pause of several years) but in multi-player mode this time. When I first played Civ3 it was not so playable as Civ2 but has more elegant graphic and some new solutions. Also not so dynamic as Civ2 (rivers makes units move faster and I created many small Civ2 maps with lots of rivers) but the concepts of Golden Age and having Armies was something new and well implemented in Civ3. Also lacked those nice guys in High Council, too. Well all that didn't stop me to create some Civ3 maps after I mastered the game. It means I found Civ3 more than enough enjoyable. If only I can find time to play it now. And maybe soon I would. And finally to test my old Civ3 maps in a real multi-player games.

What a silly question you asked...you silly

Civ 3 complete.
I like old games better than the new ones.
- Football Manager 2008 (or 2006)
- Red Alert 2
- Madden 08
Stuff like that.
